Soda I - Jumping to Monarch

Interested in one more? I'd really like to try out a succession game. I beat prince easily and have a couple wins on monarch. I beat Monarch easily with the Incans using early rush tactics (assuming I have at least one close neighbor) and basically warmongering the whole game. I have closer games going peaceful and haven't finished one yet (I played prince alot when the game first came out, just started playing again on monarch last couple weeks) so I think this SG would a be perfect fit.

Before we start this game, is it vital that I have the v1.61 Patch installed on my civ IV game? I'm looking forward to starting the fun. :)

Thank you, retro V, for the response. I've got it downloaded!

how do I delete this post?

I didn't want to delete this test page anyways since I need my 30 posts to be able to activate my cool looking icon next to my name. Yeah, 27 more to go!

Come on, SpriteSODA, let's get this thing rolling; my newbie anticipation is killing me.

I've played my turns but I must go now so I'll post them later on. Lets just say that if the folks of MillerTime had so many scouts popped they would've scotued the entire map

Well, in the first roster everyone will play 20turns, so here are mine:

0: Here is our start-

I've settled in place and set up the research to Mining.
A goodie hut gave us another scout -

2: A goodie hut gave us another scout

3: We've met Bismark of Germany -

And Hattypsut of Egypt -

6: A goodie hut gave us 89 gold, and another one gave us another scout

10: We've met Montyzuma and Mansa Musa-

11: Met Julius Ceaser -

12: Done researching Mining, start on Animal Husbandry

18: Capital finished Warior, start another until growth then we'll change to Worker.

19: One scout Defeats a Lion and another got eaten by a panther :crazyeye:
20: nada.

So, here is a pic of our location so we can dotmap. We've almost scouted the whole landmass (Pangea).

Next player will be the first to post a got it.

The Save:

That's a heavy pictorial. Basically you built a warrior and done a lot of exploring, yea? :D

I'll get up next if you want.

Here's where I reckon we put the first 2 cities. Not sure how soon we can build settlers. What setting are barbs on? How big is the map? What direction did the other AIs come from? Maybe we got the coast to our west, in which case we don't have to settle in that direction too soon.

Red city should be first. It overlaps quite a lot, but neither city will need all their plots anytime soon. Positioned in this way, Red City can borrow the irrigated corn while mining the gold, then, when it grows, it will be a good boost to research. After border expansion, it can work the cows and give the corn back.

If we build Yellow City early enough, we could still build the Oracle in time for a MW or CoL slingshot. Can't really tell which one would be the best spot at the moment. The top one would make an awesome hammer city later on, lot's of hills and 2 floodplains, stick the HE there and we could probably churn out elephants every 1 or 2 turns. The alternative site might be better, depending if it's coastal with good surroundings; if it's just a lake, then perhaps not. Also, it's got 3 deserts in outskirts, so I doubt whatever's under the fog will make up for that.

nah I think that red dot should be more to the north.

Anyway sry about the pics, I forgot to resize them  , and I posted so much cus I have a solo game going which I blog it, so to help the viewers understand I post tons of screens.

The red city doesnt seem like the best spot, I would move it 2 spots east next to the water. You lose out on cows but you still get the gold and you get the river tiles. I'm torn, the gold would be really nice but it would be nice to expand towards the AI, I would almost be tempted to put it over by the banana on the river.

What research path are we taking? I'm assuming that since we took mining we should go ahead and get bronze working to chop out a couple settlers.

For the yellow city, I would put it directly on the silk on the river (1NE of the northern yellow dot). You get fresh water, still get the stone and another silk, and still plenty of hills. You also only end up with one desert tile instead of 3.

Just thought about the fact we are Persia.:crazyeye: We should get AH asap (after bronze working) to reveal horses, our third (if not second) city should be next to horses so we can get Immortals. I would follow that up with pottery for 1/2 price granaries. From that point we can whip out some immortals and rush whoever has expanded closest to us.

About the red city, it looks like it's mostly plains and desert and jungle, not a great area for any kind of city imo. I only suggest making use of the corn and gold to help keep up with AI in terms of research, else we'll be too far behind by the time we get alpha.

If you think it won't matter, then we could go straight for the marble, and start developing a hammer-intensive city. If we get the Oracle, which we don't have to depend on, then we can either go for the expensive MW, or the less expensive IW in order to get a military supremacy.

EDIT: Oops, yea, immortals. Forgot about them. AH is not as essential as BW at this point in the game. Assuming we can find some horses close by, we still want to whip a settler first to grab them. Obviously swords don't compare to our HA UU, so use the Oracle for MW.

I don't agree with your city spots, lol. Those aren't 3 desert tiles, for one thing, they are 2 floodplains and 1 desert tile. Also, settling amongst jungle and bananas will be useless until we get IW and Calender. (Oh right, I think I misunderstood about the desert tiles, you meant the ones west of the dot). I would rather settle with the marble in the immediate ring, instead of waiting even longer for a border expansion. But that's probably just me and my aversion to building obelisks.

@Adam~ We are currently researching AH =P
@All ~ wait with the city locations until we see if and where is the copper and the hourses.

ya the creative is partly why I'm thinking we should expand towards the AI, even though its more jungle. If we get a spot NE of the capital and SE of the capital we should be able to back fill the other direction easily. The site next to the marble could be rather slow growth due to the poor health from jungle and floodplain, I would still get a city there after we get a city next to horses.
