SoI Domination Challenge

As soon as one became available, I hired a merc and went on Chittor with all units. I got it with my last swordman. Then I regrouped and went against Ajmer and razed Bundi. I didn't have the forces to take the capital, but they collapsed and I was able to sweep in. Next was Gwalior, but after that I had bring my forces back to Chittor to kill the Gujarati before they connect the copper, I took their capital and Dwarka, after which they were willing to capitulate, which I accepted, because rest of their cities were up for razing. They survived really long and I had assasinate their heir three times before they kicked the bucket.

Meanwhile, I had taken Northern Hindustan and Sindh right after their spawn. Naturally the Ghorids declared war on me and I took Peshawar and Dharmasala from them hoping to collapse them, but they survived until my next attack. Then I founded Gwadar and sent an army to conquer Iraq after the Mongols had wiped it clean. Then I slowly took Iran to fill the land treshold while staying stable to avoid a nasty respawn in India. Gujarat did respawn once, but I was able to take them down in two turns.

Abbasids had failed to build the HoW before I spawned, because of the Buyids I assume. So Ghazna went straight for it and then Spiral Minaret; Ghazna became a monster wonder spammer. Meanwhile my troops went to India, where I managed to pick up Multan and Dilli. All other cities built workers to connect the lands asap. I also took Zaranj and Lahore, before rolling against the Sindh right after their spawn. I continued to Gujarat and capitulated them after inflicting reasonable damage to their army and taking Dwarka. My army then continued straight to Malwa and I liberated Chittor and Dhar to Gujarat before Malwa collapsed. Next was Ajmer, whose culture really pressed the former Malwan lands. I liberated Bundi to Gujarat, but kept Ajmer's capital and Gwalior for a while, since at that point the liberations hurt my stability. Later I continued to the indie Malwan lands and helped Gujarat to take them too.

Meanwhile I expanded slowly in Iran to Kerman and Western Khorasan just few steps behind the Mongols. After 1250 I claimed the Shahanshah lands, Iraq and Tocharistan. Then I just waited for the borders to pop for the land.

I have been playing the same KoJ domination game for about 3 months. I just don't get as much time as I used to at the computer.

The starting troops headed north to take Mosul and raze Edessa and Antioch, I suffered losses by hired mercs to fill in the gaps. I kept Sur and took Jerusalem and Makkah, and finally Medinah. Few veterans were sent to take Dvin right after Armenian spawn. With this setup I paused to tech and countering the Buyids. Damascus, Mosul and Gundeshapur were my army training cities, while Baghdad focused on wonder spamming, Kufah for money and Samarra commerce. Makuria peace vassalised and later I took Soda and Aksum for them.

Naturally I got the 2/3 uhv GA and I also used one spare GS to bulb a GA. Fatimids spawned and cpitulated after losing Cairo, Damietta and Al-Minya. I had a ton of workers and I built a road from Aksum to Levant to speed up my troop movement and to help my allies to found cities and defend against the barbs. I took Yazd and Shiraz from Buiyds, but they survived until the Seljuks spawned. Because Estafan was the Buyid capital the Seljuks didn't flip and I took from the Buyids right after the flip, I also razed Siraf. Meanwhile I had conquered Georgia and rest of Armenia together with Trabzon. My intention was to capitulate Seljuks, but they weren't willing so ended up conquering them, I proceeded immeatidely against the Ghaznavids and then to India and Khwarezmian lands. Baghdad had built the Mevlanas tomb early and I managed to spawn three GAs, which I used to culture bomb Kerman, Zaranj and Turbat. This was enough for the win. My stability dropped like crazy in the end, but I managed to hold it together.

Ghorid domination game depends quite much on the starting situation, i.e. are the Ghaznavids or Sindh too strong or have the Ajmer conquered the indies in northern Hindustan. I played couple games for about 20 turns until I realised that things aren't going too well, so I rolled a new start. The last was decent, although Ghaznavids had founded Firakuz 1W, so that it caught Herat's sorghum and there was no Herat. Anyways I went with it and sent the starting troops to take Ghazna and then Qandahar, which collapsed the Ghaznavids. Meanwhile Peshawar pumped out trebutchets for Lahore. After taking Lahore and Quetta, I continued straight against the Sindh, who can become really annoying, if not killed quickly.

The mongols come really quickly after the start, but can be taken out with swords and catapults, since the Kabul stack can be killed with the free barb wins. Their second spawn is actually even more annoying, because getting Muhajids before 1240 can be difficult. Anyways, after taking out Sindh and the Indies in north I paused for quite a while to tech. Gujarat and vassal Ajmer declared war on me a little after I had gotten HHA's and my cities were pumping them out like crazy. They managed to take Thatta with their impressive stack of dumbos, UU-swordmen and trebutchees, but I quickly recovered it and routed all my HHA's to Gujarat. I took Dwarka, Anhilwara and Surat without siege (I ignored razeable Vegh Kot and Somnath), after which the Ajmer broke free and I made peace with Gujarat for Gwalior. Meanwhile my army in Delhi had taken Ajmer and my troops from Gujarat razed Chittor and I made peace with them too. Sure enough they both collapsed pretty quickly.

Simultaniously I had sent two stacks of Muhajids and trebutches to conquer Western Khorasan and Kerman. From which they continued to rest of Iran and Iraq with reinforcement HHA's and Heavy Lancers. Then I just focused on culture and capitulated the stubborn Bahmanids for the win.

After getting a camel merc, I went straight for Makkah and took it. Then I sent all mercs I could get my hands on to Iraq and my smallish army arrived conviniently in the middle of the Abbasids-Buyids battle. Abbasids collapsed quickly and I took Kufah, Wasit and Basra; Buyids had Baghdad. The Yemeni stability is really crap and from the start it drops to -15 without any particular reason, so I had to focuse on getting stable/solid in order to prevent an Abbasid respawn. I managed to pull it off and the Abbasids were never seen again. Meanwhile Sana'a built the Spiral Minaret and Al-Azhar. Btw, I got the stable quest took the +1 food from stables, which suits Yemen extremely well. Madinah was size 8 and a production monster.

When the Buyids collapsed, I took Baghdad quickly to close the respawning window; I also took indie Gundeshapur earlier. Then I just teched and prepared for Mongols, I had to declare war on Seljuks around 1230 to get iron from Damascus for Heavy Lancers, but they never really threatened the isolated Iraq and Mongolse eventually wiped them out. Then I expanded to Iran and collapsed the Fatimids, killed the (re)spawned Mamluks and rolled over Africa from Levant (which I had pretty much taken in the 1220s) and Aksum. This together with Iran and crushing Ak Kouynly was enough for the win; Oman was a vassal.

completed my first domination win, malwa and am working on my second using a similar strategy and i had a question/note.

didn't take a screenshot as it didn't beat the existing malwa score or time.

but my goal was to use the hindu ability to get both titles to greater stability, but when i get shananshah, my stability does not seem to go up ten. i thought so the first time but the second and third, (i had one failed ajmer attempt) i was paying careful attention.

also, my stability as malwa was much greater than it was as ajmer at the same point. 50 points greater as malwa before moving into iran. do civs have built in stability buffs?

YESS ! i got it. I don't really micro city work tile improvements... but I guess I need to to do that to be efficient. Use a GP golden age just in case. A 10 promotions Lak horseman devastated the entire Gujarat country side.

Urrggh economy is tanking (expensive horseman.. 7 gpt). I want to finish all the UHVs before I get into Religion and Domination victory.

I didn't make settler till later.. I was making granaries, blacksmiths, then spears & pults, and trying to reinforced Gujarat territory. I gamble with Anhilwara (attacked Gujarat right away with initial units with a few mercs). I was able to build that Rav Wonder that gives 1 pop. in each city.

Finally got the UHV in 1261. Edit: It wasn't my initial plan, that Lak horseman nearly took out all of Gujarat defenses. So in hindsight, I kinda worked for the 2nd UHV first.
