Solver's Unofficial BtS Patch

No code affecting that was changed. So, hmm - and at any rate, the conditions for colonies releasing themselves shouldn't be met too often. Interesting.

I'd be really interested to know what the conditions are for newly formed colonies deciding to rebuff their founder's control? Maybe that could help understand why this happened in this particular game and yet never before.

They all had tip-top relations with their founder and my own Byzantine colony has never even come close to releasing himself from me throughout the game....

as it happens, just after i put the updated patch on stalin declared himself independent. havent seen that previously

Bingo! Thanks for verifying. Certainly a rather critical one to fix. It's already had a major impact in my current game, taking 3 of the 7 civs out of the running as they lose their colonies.

There's a vassalage tweak in the upcoming update. See if it affects the colony issue.

hmmm i can't seem to find any instructions to place the rest of the .cpp files that are packaged along with the main .dll file in the zip file.

Correct me if i'm wrong but these go into the assets folder right?

Unless you are planning on changing stuff yourself you don't need the .cpp files at all ;)

Updated

Changes courtesy of Blake.

  • Governor fills the food bar better.
  • Governor should work hamlets over cottages.
  • AI offers larger bribes to other AI's, and doesn't care how much it "overpays" to bring another party into war.
  • The vassalizing thing should work now.
  • Fixed bug where defensive units idle.
  • Hamlets WILL be preferred over cottages.

Great to see another update to improve the AI and fix bugs. :goodjob:

I was wondering, the hamlets preferred over cottages thing is mentioned twice. Is there a difference or was there meant to be some other balance/bug/AI fix in that place?

It's just how changelogs are often written (this list is also written by Blake). First, you make a change and write "Governor should work hamlets over cottages" in the log. Then you discover it doesn't quite work, change the code again, and write "Hamlets WILL be preferred over cottages" - as such, appears twice :)

Ok, I get it. The changelog is created while you work and improve the code and that can result in a rather weird looking piece of text which is actually completely correct in describing the code improving process.

Thanks again for the improvements. I guess I'll start a new game soon to check out the new stuff.

Oh yeah, sometimes you can get really weird changelogs if they document a week's or so worth of changes :)

I just finished a game, and now I want to get the patch. Do I need the official 3.0 patch, Solver's unofficial patch, or both? Thanks.

You can install the official 3.03 patch first and then install my patch over it.

They can also do it the other way around. However, that probably won't have the desired effect. :D

Sorry, couldn't resist. :crazyeye:

Hello Solver,

Why does your DLL version say "1.0.0.1" and not "1.0.0.3"?

Just imagine, you could apply version numbers to each uploaded DLL. 1.0.0.1.S4, 1.0.0.1.S5, 1.0.0.1.S6, ...

But I suppose the file date is best to keep track.
