Some Hungarian and a few Polynesia Units

Bakuel, I don't won't to stretch my luck with you, so I'm writing this in small letters;)

Could the Hungarian Knight's horse be swapped for a more decorated one? I saw your conversation about whether they used armor or not, and I agree that not much armor was used, but they were anyway made like the western knights, so at least something like the Charemagne horse spearman has, some light padded armor and some colored/themed cover-texture could be a good choice, because right now it feels wrong and sticks out from the set/other knights.

This is a supposed knight from Hungary from that period, or you could just have a quick glance at the current pics from my Hungary mod and see what padding/armor I'm thinking about:

I've got an idea for a Great Artist unit for the Polynesians.

I can't make any promises on the knight avain, I'll look into but it won't be done in two weeks that's for sure. I want to focus on medieval Polynesians, Hungarian workers and hussars/muskets and Persian horsearchers for the next release. This is enough for me (and I probably won't finish all of it either). Why couldn't you have requested the armored horse before I made the knight when it was up for discussion? :hammer2:

@MadmanOfALeader, I'm more worried about finishing the requests on my plate then making great people for Polynesia at the moment, also when I start making great people down the road they'll probably be for the vanilla civs first. tiny bubbles... hehehehe....

I just thought that while you were making Polynesian units, you wouldn't ignore Great People, of course.

I'm afraid I will be ignoring great people, just like I ignored great people for Mali, Mongolia, Persia, Ethiopia, the Incas, the Aztecs, Khmer, Korea, Rome, Sumeria, and Egypt. I just don't feel like making modern great artists at this time. Maybe later. At this time I have other things to make.

However, some up and coming unit maker could take a stab at creating Don Ho, at civ scale, this model would be no other then the executive model with a new texture. It shouldn't be that hard. And, in my opinion at least, there is nothing greater then making something oneself. Also, never to ask from an other what one wouldn't take the time to do oneself. :mischief:

Honestly Madman, and you know I love you brother because you push me to greatness everyday, this may be your opportunity to make a Great Person yourself. Its an easy reskin as he's said, and if you want to know the intricacies of making units/LHs, or at least reskinning them, I can help you with that. Just PM me.

Let an artirst do what he does. Bakuel is an invaluable asset, and when an artist is left to his own devices that is when true greatness ensues.

Keep it up Bakuel, you will indirectly result in a golden-age of mods. Believe me.

PS; sorry that was melodramatic, I am currently VERY intoxicated.

Ok, fair enough! :D ( actually I misunderstood you when you talked about no armor;) )

I can do the texture ok for the horse, no prob, and I'll try my hand at swapping the horse - I just didn't want to mess up a great unit if there was a possibility a pro would do it:p ( and that stupid Sceneviewer is crashing on me more often it's not... )

And yet again, thanks for all the great units, I can't wait for your vikings, carthaginians, etc., VD could use a refreshment at those civs! :goodjob:

The Hungarian units look awsome, too bad I'm not making a medieval mod. Small request, for the HRE pack, could you include a few Dark Ages Germanics, they would be most appreciated.

I was planning to make some dark age Frankish (Carolingian and probably a bit earlier) style units which could probably be used for another germanic tribe, if that is what you mean.

That will work perfectly, thanks. (Dark Ages are always skipped over. Most units here go from High Classical to High Middle Ages)

Thanks cybrxkhan!

But for some odd reason I was not able to see the pictures of the drums, I get a

Is there something wrong with the link or is there something wrong with my computer?

Maybe there's something funny with the site, I don't know. Anyhow, sorry for the long wait, but I guess I put the pictures up imageshack or something like that.

Here they are:

I don't think you need much to realize that these pictures are, of course, as Vietnamese prehistoric art, quite... abstract. But regardless, I think it gives you a bit of an idea what ancient pre-Chinese-influenced Vietnam may have seemed like. The people, from what I can tell, were partly naked and liked wearing feathers. From what I've also heard, they were also heavily tatooed, similar to how many Austro-Asiatic or Austronesian groups also are big into the tatoo thing.

I think there could be some Vietnamese books lying around the house that could have some appropriate pictures that you could use. If I get them and scan some of the pictures, I'll send them over to you.

Hope that was of some kind of use.

PS That Tiki-Tank idea sounds pretty good... :scan: :p

Thanks cybrxkhan!

Wow... You're right, these are pretty abstract, still very useful though and thanks for the info. :)

If you aren't too busy and have the time, I would love to see any pictures you have. Vietnamese pre-modern military pictures are very rare and any help at all would be appreciated.

Hey avain, is there any way you could post the file those Rifleman units you posted?

I think they look cool and could be transformed into other units if you aren't going to use them.
