Sonspiracy III: I Want To Believe

Oh boy, did things go wrong quickly. An armed faction attacked the Indiana State Prison, killing dozens of guards and detonating several bombs, crippling the prison. Hundreds of prisoners have escaped or died in the assault, and the prison is “unfit for purpose” at this time. The surviving prisoners have been moved to a new location, and state and federal investigators are now looking into the entire mess. I wonder how the SCP Foundation is going to take this, but given the Foundation’s continued regression, they’ll probably just going to take it.

Across the sea, the University of Cambridge burned down. A visiting choir perished in the flames, and the government has declared a national day of mourning and remembrance.

Oh, and the Third Chechen War is about over. Funny that then. Putin is winning, despite the rampant allegations that he’s committing war crimes. Most of these accusations come from Fox News and MSNBC, with AJAM and CNN saying they can’t find anything, and RT is just picking up whatever the Neo-Bolsheviks are telling them to pick up it seems. Which brings me to the greatest event of the season.

The Neo-Bolshevik Party tried to organize an occupation of Volvograd to get the city renamed back to Stalingrad. Unfortunately for the NBP, Putin had to only mutter one word to bring the occupation crashing down.

“Unpatriotic.”

The people who showed up for the NBB occupation were vastly outnumbered by the number of anti-NBB protesters, to the point where the only thing protecting the NBB party members was the police force of the government they were apparently protesting.

The FIFA World Cup came and went without a shooting or bombing, which I believe we can think the Rumsfield Corporation for. That company has been pretty busy lately, hasn’t it? An increasing number of its employee base are former officers of the United States Armed Forces. Don’t know what they’re up to really, but they’re pushing their puppets in Congress to support privatizing more parts of the military. Funny how the military-industrial complex works, especially when the industrial end consists of one major company in North America now.

Then again, it was nice to watch the FIFA World Cup without Chechens shooting the place up.

Fox News and MSNBC spent the entire summer on celebrity news, which would be awful if I and thousands of others didn’t just tune to CNN and AJAM, which actually ran news and acknowledged that this is an election year. At least they covered the attack on the Indiana State Prison.

Two new organizations really caught my attention: The Pan-Global Partnership Organization and World Economic Forum. The names just ooze “Order of Nosdracha”, and the Order executives of NBC Universal certainly are, at least indirectly, responsible. Is it blatant? Well, one group is just a nifty meet-up for the world’s captains of industry and commerce, and the other is so pro-free markets that it has to be the lovechild of Woodrow Wilson and Gordan Gecko.

So how does this all tie together? Rumsfield Corporation recently acquired large weapons manufacturers without anybody noticing. The same corporation tested out its new security apparatus during the World Cup, and thanks to mandates by the World Economic Forum, is now working for private contractors in Nigeria to protect the investments pouring in, mostly from the United States.

But I’m starting to think the Order is biting off more than it can chew. Exploitation is one thing, but laying the infrastructure to effectively exploit somebody is expensive. This isn’t the same Order from the end of the Cold War, and definitely not the same pre-World War 2 Order that seemingly had unlimited funds to throw around.

But enough with capitalism for a bit. I have to say, St. George’s Health Institute is a tad interesting. Quality healthcare, a non-profit organization, and prices so low even the uninsured…well, they still have problems paying, but still, it isn’t as bad as some other hospital networks. When something is too good to be true, I decide to look into it. Who are these doctors and administrators? Where did they come from? Who is paying for all of this? I’ll get to the bottom of this in time, but for now, babies aren’t vanishing into thin stomachs, so at least the Reptoids aren’t involved.

Speaking of which, the Washington Capital Bank reportedly approached the owner of ManCo. Museum of Oddities with a very generous offer, which the latter rejected.

The Native Front has formed, but since it is made up of a voting population completely non-essential to the process, nobody cares.

Stats and Proxy Map

It had been Months since Father Herbert had last stood in the council room. Ever since he had been assigned to the Protective Committee his work had been mostly in the field rather than here in Durham. However recent events had had him called back. He was a changed man now, sterner and harder, baptised again in hardship and combat. No one knew what he knew, had seen what he'd seen. Well other than Rector Steven who still sat in his almost giddy anticipation of the next mission.

Brother Mathias stood across from him and was reading out a list, a list of all Herbert's titles and achievements. It wasn't uncommon for this to happen before someone was offered a very important position. Herbert's list wasn't long, and it tactfully missed out all that he had done with the Protection Committee over the past few months, it did however detail his time at Durham Cathedral, St. John's college, the St. Cuthbert Society and his time in the Durham offices of the Fraternity.

After the list reading was over Mathias spoke softly to him "You have been picked for a great honour, the greatest of honours." He smiled which made Herbert uncomfortable, this sounded like the sort of thing that someone would say before issuing a suicide mission. "You have served the Fraternity for a long time and with incredible vigilance and faith. You excelled in your time in the Committee and we have recognised your commitment to the faith and the whole over the personal." Herbert was growing more and more convinced that this would be his last mission. Sister Roisin's grave face didn't help either. She had a sombre look about her.

"Thus," Mathias continued "We have decided to appoint to you the most important mission you have ever undertaken. We are appointing you Dean of Westminster." Herbert breathed a sigh of relief and then found himself becoming excited again, more excited than he had been in years. This was a true opportunity to do the most amazing things.

"Brother, I am most grateful for this honour. May the Saint in the Moon watch over us." He then saw Sister Roisin, the look of jealousy on her face made him understand why she had looked so Sombre, it was sad because he'd always liked her. Maybe he'd have a word with her afterwards.

"You may be seated Brother," Mathias gestured to his chair and then to another man sitting at the table, the man was think and intelligent looking, someone who looked like he was from the Economic department. "Brother Nicholas, arise please." The man stood up and suddenly Herbert recognised him, it was Nick Daniels, the clerical economist who had organised the takeover of Bradshaw and Lymn and then went on to formulate a plan to control the Kent-Sussex Trading Company and UBE. Rumour had it he was planning something really really big now. "Brother Nicholas has finally managed to implement his plan and we now have near total control of the London Stock Exchange..."


Nick Daniels stood in his office above the trading floor. He had such power, such ultimate power. He who controls the exchange controls the market, he who controls the market controls the world. He looked over the papers on his desk, insider trading was the norm for his operatives and with the help of the Committee he could make sure that stock prices were not random but a symphony conducted by him, a great work of art carefully manipulated into glorious harmonies. Following last weeks council meeting though, he had been given a new objective. It was time for the markets to become aggressive.


The service ended with an almighty fanfare from the Organ, it was glorious and Father Herbert was at the centre of it all. People started filling out and he began he first mission as Dean of Westminster. Somewhere out there in the congregation sat a man who cold be identified only by his purple pocket handkerchief, a man from the Order of Nosdracha.
 
The archdiocese of Buenos Aires has announced the most prestigious event of it's archbishop being made a cardinal. Luis Mendovico (A8) will be sure to represent that which the Archdiocese and Argentina hold dear.
 
I should throw up an update sometime Saturday, which clearly means Tuesday in SonTime.
 
“…and as surely all of you are aware, the first great leap of colonization began when the Kak’’k Institute discovered Universe-02 and methods of accessing this universe.” said the Reptoid History Professor in his apartment. He was lecturing to his students, all of them sitting at home wearing their Holo-Helmets, allowing them to virtually attend the lecture. “However, I doubt that many of you realise that…” The Professor was interrupted by a Priority Zero Call Alert.

“I’m sorry,” said the Professor, “But this lecture will have to be rescheduled, I will send you the information before the end of the week.” The Professor shut down the e-lecture and took the call, no one ever ignored a Priority Zero Call.

“Hello Professor,” said a shadowy Reptoid. The transmission was weak, it was obviously from another Universe and not one that they had been in for long either. “This is a Priority Zero Call, everything in this call is considered top secret, notifying anyone about the content of this call will have significant consequences.” The Reptoid paused for a few moments. “As you are the leading expert on the phenomenon known as reality failure, please give a description of the phenomenon in your own words for record keeping purposes.”

“Y-yes sir.” said the Professor. He took a second to calm his nerves, then he continued. “Reality failure was a phenomenon that occurred in Universe-06. Due to humanity’s low technological development, integration into our Empire went smoothly. However, objects would appear and events would take place that would defy the laws of physics, this would later be known as the reality failure of Universe-06. Despite the best efforts of Reptoid Scientists to understand and contain the phenomenon, anomalous events exponentially increased in frequency. This meant the entire universe had to be evacuated, save for a few small scientific outposts. This caused search algorithms in universe finders to be refined so that the chances of coming across such anomalous universes would be lower.” The professor exhaled nervously.

“Consider this hypothetical,” said Command “A universe outside of Universe-06 is experiencing reality failure. Humans have created a secretive oligarchic organization dedicated to containment of this phenomenon. What would be the most efficient way to cure or mitigate reality failure?”

“Oh-niner is experiencing reality failure!?” said the Professor, forgetting who he was talking to. Human and other primate infants had been in short supply due to the dangerous Outer Plague infecting most of the universes’ primates causing an increase in inedible botched births. This has cause famine and riots in some of the poorer universes, this latest expedition was a last ditch attempt to find an uninfected livestock, if reality failure had touched Universe-09 then that means-

“That is above your pay grade.” said Command “Answer the question.”’
“A-a-ppologies sir.” answered the Professor who took another moment to calm his anxiety. “Containment is one of the more effective methods of combating Reality Failure, however it would still eventually lead to the desecration of the universe in question. The most viable method would be to remove the anomalous objects from said universe and moving them to Universe-06 where the harm of reality failure no longer matters. This would probably require the destruction of the previously mentioned oligarchy.”

“Thank you for your time professor.” said Command, who hung up the Holo-Feed. The Professor immediately made inquiries of moving to a farm on Universe-04 to secure his food supply, careful not to mention the call. Meanwhile, Command made another call.

“It is decided.” said Command over the phone. “Destroy the SCP Foundation. Relocate the anomalies to Universe-06. Cut out the cancer.”
 
We turn our attention to Channel 7 in Argentina where it seems that the employees inside that building, and I don't know how else to say this, have gone mad. The incident started earlier today when a Channel 7 employee opened fire on pedestrians across the street from the media building. When police moved in to respond, they found the entrances barricaded shut. Three officers were killed by sustained gunfire.

I'm getting a report that the Channel 7 building is now on fire.

“I repeat, this is a red alert!” shouted the operative into the microphone “We are being attacked by Keter-Class SCP-ahhhgh!” The operative screamed as a Reptoid took a huge bite out of his neck. The Reptoid assumed the operative’s form and rushed along the corridor.

O-5 Command was a bloodbath, dozens of bodies, Human and Reptoid alike, lay on the floor of each blood-stained corridor. Operations, albeit less bloody ones, had happened over the last three months. Although the operatives that they had faced fought long and hard, the leadership and cohesiveness of the organization never recovered after that first surprise strike. But the most important battle was not won yet.

“Approaching O-5 Command room, sir.” said the Reptoid into his communicator. Although usually the central hub of this building would be protected by security systems, but they had taken out the power grid before the operation had started, allowing easy access for the task forces.

The Reptoid kicked down the door, expecting to see the O-5 Council and security guards. Instead, there was the dead bodies of eleven of the twelve councillors next to cups filled with white liquid. O5-1, the head of the Council, was sitting down at the other side of the room. The Reptoid and O5-1 pointed their guns at each other.

“It’s Protocol Omega-0,” said O5-1 “In the event of the total and irreversible defeat of the SCP Foundation, the members of the O5 Council are supposed to take a chemical compound mixed in water, it causes instant death. My fellow councillors have followed the Protocol, it’s not like there’s anyone left to berate me for it! You see, I wanted to look into the eyes of the ones who destroyed us. Please turn off your disguise, I know what you really are.” The Reptoid shifted to his natural form.

“You are quite foolish you know,” said O5-1 “We were a threat to your species, I’ll give you that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the things that we contain weren’t more of a threat. So why DID you attack us? Oh don’t look at me like that, it’s not a security breach you and me both know that I am not walking out of here alive.”

“You think you know how to contain Reality Failure,” said the Reptoid “But you do not. You must cut this cancer out of the Universe and take it somewhere else. We are saving this Universe, no thanks to you.” A grin appeared on O5-1’s face.

“You may have saved the Universe,” said O5-1 “But you have lost the world. You see, we keep some very dangerous non-anomalous item in this structure, they are four nuclear warheads, the ultimate deterrent.”

“No…” said the Reptoid as his eyes widened in terror.

“Yes,” said O5-1, “The warheads are armed, they will explode in roughly three minutes. Soon you and all your friends will be a pile of radioactive dust.”

“But that’s insane!” said the Reptoid “You’ll destroy the planet!”

“Indeed,” said O5-1 “America will no doubt react to the explosion as an attack on their soil, the nukes will fly and the world will burn. It is why these weapons are known as the ultimate deterrent after all. Humanity may suffer, but so will you. I am sure that your employers will not be happy that their prized new planet has been turned into an uninhabitable piece of radioactive rock.”

“Turn them off!” the Reptoid shouted “You must have the codes! Turn them off or I will shoot you!” O5-1 laughed.

“I’m going to die anyway,” said O5-1 “Why should I care how?”

“I am too!” the Reptoid shouted “I will rip out your heart and make you eat it unless you give me the damned codes now!”

“Well,” said O5-1 “Good luck with that.” O5-1 put his gun inside his mouth and splattered his brains against the wall. The Reptoid pulled out his communicator.

“Activate the transportation device!” the Reptoid screamed into his communicator “Do it now!”

“You and the rest of the teams aren’t clear from the area!” said the operator “There’s no way you’ll survive in the Universe-06 without protective gear!”

“We’re dead anyway, they’ve activated a nuke!” the Reptoid screamed “Do it now!”

“I’ve activated them.” said the operator “I’m so sorry.”

“You know what,” said the Reptoid “Those days in the canteen, eating those kids and laughing about your professor, they were the best days of my life.”

“Same here.” said the operator as he started tearing up.

“Have a good life mate.” said the Reptoid. He turned off his communicator and sighed, preparing himself for what was to come. He felt the familiar shudder of inter-dimensional transport. He saw a white light, then there was nothing.

OOC: Terran said he was dropping the game, so he gave me permission to say that my group destroyed his. Cheers mate. :)

Alright, I was talking to Sone about the future of Sonspiracy and he said he would be happy for us to continue without him. So I figure we have these options:

1. Abandon the game (nope.avi)

2. Get someone else to GM. I would GM, but I don't want to kill my faction off and having a GMPC faction could lead to problems.

3. Have everyone GM or something? No idea how that would work.

4. Have everyone collaborate to work on a conclusion. If we can't get a new GM, this would be a good option, as it would mean that the game would go out with a bang rather than a whimper.

5. Some other solution that someone thinks of.

So, what do you guys think? How should we go forward?
 
Co-operation could allow us to have grand meeting in the New Yorket Hotel agreeing to split the world between us all! :D

As for the other options: it will depend on the condition, although it would be sad to abadon the game.
 
But the question is, would people still be willing to keep playing and would Sone be willing to host in six months?

@Reus: I would support you being GM. :)
 
For the record, there were no secret numbers or anything operating in the background, so if a prospective GM does want to run the game, I think they can just copy and paste the Grand Conspiracy Map into his own Google Sheet document and work from there.
