I think it's a memory problem, but it's pretty strange because when you press ''next turn'' nothing happens, but it just ''crash'' ( the program doesn't close, but stop working), I tried it in two computers and the result is the same, maybe it's something related to something that is built in that turn? Or it reached the maximum Memory? How can I avoid that in future games?

I just want you to try to go to the next turn with this save... and tell me if you can, and maybe then save the in the next turn and post here to then I try to go ahead...

This is the first time it happens because I use to finish or stop playing my games around 1700

Thanks a lot in advance...

Same with me. No apparent reason. Reloaded from a few rounds before and played it again, but the result remains unchanged. Same turn, same lockup. 1050 AD on Epic speed.

Yes here I tried several times going back and trying again, changing things etc... I think it's reallt a memory problem beacause I'm on the marathon speed and it happened 1773 and you on Epic happened in 1050, so my memory allows more than yours, what I'll try to do is to delete some cities in the World Creator... I'll report that back.

It's not a memory issue. It's generally an AI issue. A unit (likely a worker) has gotten stuck in an endless loop. RoM 2.92 has this issue. I recommend playing an older version, or trying out my expansion, A New Dawn, which fixes these.

I'm having the same issue with AND 1.75 Beta 1.

I got the AND expansion on this RoM... so this game has gone to hell?

If I start another there's chance that it returns to happen?

Thanks for the help

I'm also experiencing a "Waiting on civilization..." lockup, where I can look at the civopedia, even at my cities, but actually the AI is taking it's turn and simply stops doing so.
These kinds of errors happened in Fall from Heaven due to units with Hidden Nationality sometimes. It helped to delete some units that might be involved, so you could try deleting some workers (and add new ones to compensate for it, maybe ;) ).

It's really frustrating to have this happen on a great going game! Anybody got more hints? I really don't feel like going through all units on the map... *sigh*

An easy way to solve this is to look which unit was last moved in the logs, then delete it.
The times I had this loop it was because an AI declared war on another AI or human and the AI wanted to promote his units or board them on ships.

So try go into worldbuilder and delete that lastly reported moved unit and those "around" it.
Works for me.

Thanks for your answer. I cannot find the appropriate log, though! When I enable logging in the civilization.ini I get a bunch of technical logs in the \My Games\Civ... dir, autologging creates a kind of game report in the mod dir.
What file exactly do I need? I haven't seen anything about unit movement and trying to delete what units I see didn't help, sadly.

Hm, I've found the log file, but it only shows (a loooot of them) lines starting with rand=:
Rand = 231560351 on 497710 (AI Bombard)
Rand = 1110419948 on 497710 (First Strike)
Rand = 211382709 on 497710 (First Strike)
Rand = 83411018 on 497710 (Combat)
Rand = 1807522747 on 497710 (Combat)
Rand = 1147369688 on 497710 (Combat)
Rand = -1136888783 on 497710 (Combat)
Rand = -536176874 on 497710 (AI Unit Birthmark)
Rand = 261044375 on 497722 (Random Battle Effect)

The whole 20000 lines don't yield a single search result for "moving".
Do I need to turn this on seperately? Where? Sorry, I tried to search the forum for a newbie logging guide but I couldn't find any.

LoL... that may work... Can you tell me how can I delete a single unit? The std delete deletes everything on the tile, improvments, resources and all units, and even cites...

@ Jdexter
Mmmm looks like the right file. Try to look at it during the actual turn when the AI loops.

@ Soundwave
I think u have to select the unit as if you want to place one more and then use right mouse button instead of left.

That's what I did, sadly it stops adding new entries. Damn, I was really enjoying this game - and it doesn't happen very often that I'm motivated to play to the industrial, even more so in an epic game... :/
Well, maybe I'll try it some more before Civ5 arrives - then it's over with it anyways! :D

@Soundwave: That's exactly how it works. Nothing else is deleted except for 1 unit of the selected type (as long as one of that type exists - which you can pick in "player mode").

I was so excited when I saw this thread because its the second time the game stop when I hit the next turn button and always around steel tech. Also after I hit the next turn button it freezes immediately after I hit it even the text "Press Enter for next turn" can't disappear. Maybe the problem is in any of my units or a unit in the civ after me. The problem is that every log is on but I am unable to find the one that you are talking about. Also I am completely unable to minimize the game when It's "not responding" during the crash.

Here is the list of my logs in documents/mygames/bts/logs folder

Any ideas ?

What I always do is simply isolating the city / stack of units through systematic deleting/trying to advance and then replace the WoC-causing stack / city. Works always. WoC is no gamebreaker, it just will require some simple isolating-work to make it go on.

Thanks! That worked. I've found that one of my most important cites must go (my military city) ... so I've rebuilt it in the WB. First I removed all the units, then I tried 3 by 3 every city until I found the black sheep ... Hopefully this bug happens only in my cities cuz on this uber gigantic map it will be impossible to find it :)))

Thanks again to SiLL and to all that bother answering here :goodjob:
