Spring Patch Info

It's noisy and heats up my room, and runs up my electric bill.

You see this, Firaxis? By not releasing the patch, you are contributing to global warming.

I currently have the game open, so it shouldn't update I hope. [...] Not likely I'll finish the game in the next few days, however, and I will have to turn my computer off at some point. It's noisy and heats up my room, and runs up my electric bill.

There must be a better way to prevent an update and google suggests there is: Either select update on launch in Steam settings and then launch the game only in offline mode or let the update start, immediately pause it and then launch the game.

What's your view on that evening update?

I think it rules out today. Being so late, they will want time to thoroughly test the latest build. So releasing the patch at mid-day today is unlikely. I still think Thursday at the earliest and a good chance of sometime next week.

You can play Civ while you are recuperating.

The patch may drop today. I currently have the game open, so it shouldn't update I hope. I do want to finish my game. Not sure what effect these changes will have on my game. I still have a good 60 or so cities I want to conquer. It might actually be close to 100 cities, I haven't counted them. Not likely I'll finish the game in the next few days, however, and I will have to turn my computer off at some point. It's noisy and heats up my room, and runs up my electric bill.

You could always play on steam offline for a couple of days if you dont care for achievements. I would not bother to much if you can finish the game before 19:00 CET this tuesday.

Greetings again. I am just dropping in. Is the 'Spring Patch' different then the 'march patch' posted or is it the same thing?

The March Patch was the first major update to the game post Rise & Fall. The Spring Patch will be the next.

Apparently they updated again on steamdb not but a few minutes ago

Same build as last night too. I think that means they are testing two variations of a bug fix.

Maybe Firaxis should switch to a public beta test mode for patches. Those players interested in the patch can then switch to the beta branch and play a couple of games with the patch version and contribute their feedback regarding performance, game play, bug fix, new bugs, etc. to the devs. The other players would wait for the patch release "when it's done" ...

That patch came out on March 8th which was technically still winter. :p

According to astronomers, yes. According to meteorologists it was spring already.

I had snow and ice storms last week. So it sure wasn’t spring for me
