Star Trek mod - The Next Generation!

Maybe we can use the Zombie Island as a template. Borg and zombies are not that different from eachother...:d

You can find the zombie scenario here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=84912
My idea is to replace the zombies with Borg and replace the map with one of post WW III North America. There would be three factions: Cochranes faction in Montana, Col. Greens faction and another one (no name yet). The Borg sphere crashes somewhere in the middle and serves as Borg capital, from where assimilation begins. No buildable units for the Borg, just assimilation...

I'm collecting the necessary graphics at the moment so I hope to give you some idea what Imean soon...

How about Australia? At that time in the ST timeline Australia was still independent, refusing to join in coalitions or federations. In fact, I think Australia didn't even join till much closer to the Enterprise series time period...

Of course, if you are only doing North America then how about some Mexican Panco Villa type character only to fit that time frame. I'm not sure what all the political structures are but it might be neat none the less...

First Contact happend in North America, so I think it is better to concentrate on that part of the world. But the Pancho Villa guy would fit in nicely. He should control Mexico and the Southern US, while Cochrane has the Montana area and Green has the the East coast. The Borg will crash in the very fertile central areas, making it harder on the other civs.
No one should have settlers, only workers.

I'm planning on one with the Dominion war, which has the same borders in the beginning? So yes, that would be possible...

It is great mod, but there are some problems:

-Starship sinking all the time. I discovered that astromony does not allow ships to cross space. I checked the editor and "allow sea trade" was not ticked. I ticked it and now astromony allows units to cross space. But the Borg do not have access to this tech.

-Pollution is over the top. Maybe adding a low tech pollution reducing building would help. Also have no buildings that cause pollution.

-Polluted stars. There is no way to clean them.

-NX class. It says they can carry a shuttle, but it has no transport capacity.

Maybe you could have this type of ship early in the game:

In my Star Trek encyclopieda it says:

S.S. Enterprise. Early spacecraft, one of the first space vehicles to bear the name Enterprise. An image of this historical vehicle was displayed on the rec deck of the refited original starship enterprise. (Star Trek: the motion picture). This ship was designed by Matt Jefferies for a television series project developed by Gene Roddenberry after the run of the original Star Trek. Unfortunately, the series was never produced, and this remains the only appearance of the design

Maybe this is what the Enterprise of Enterprise was supposed to look like.

The starship thing is on purpose so you stay in the space lanes during the early game. It speed things up and the AI is faster in finding possible sites for colonies.
I never have any pollution problems, you should tell me what you did...
Stars cannot be cleaned because I though it would be a bit too much to walk on stars... :) Besides, with the low number of shields it produces, you don't really miss anything...
And the NX class will be fixed...
Edit: Actually I already did that. Are you sure you have the latest version? Besides, if you are playing with one of the other civs and you take over another major civs' homeworld you cannot put shuttles in the new units you gained. That was on purpose...

I never saw the ship design before. I'm afraid I don't have any means of making units, but if you give it a try I'll be happy to put it in...

I was playing on the small map (The 9 player one) that does not have any space lanes.

Also after playing a game with the Borg something odd is going on. The Vulcans have 6 colonies, Andorians have 8, Tellaties have 5, The Federation have 1, the Cardassians have 1 and I have 7. The minor races are not so minor.

I suppose.

I found some more information about it here:

In the orignal version, the Borg were not designed to have "trade" ability. Thus they did not get the tech. You see the Borg assimilate they don't trade. Unless of course it's with Captain Janeway. Anywho, in the original version the tech that allowed transwarp capabilites (i.e. the teleport feature from the hacked editor) gave the borg the allow sea trade option.

I do not yet know if any of this has carried over to this version....

In that case I know what happend. You are right, I forgot to put the 'trade over sea' back on for the two small maps. Should be fixed now.

And as far as Borg trade is concerned: no changes from the original mod.

I wasn't talking about the Borg trading. The trade over sea ability seems to give units the ability to move over sea (in this case space). I was pointing out that the Borg do not have astronomy and thus cannot expand until later on, when they get transwarp gates.

You see the Borg assimilate they don't trade.

I know. I have watched a lot Star Trek.

Maybe in the mod you could have the Borg start out as the original species, before they became the Borg. The only problem is nobody knows anything about them.

Nice idea, but in Voyager they give several references that the Borg were like that already for a long time. Besides, the non-cyborg Borg wouldn't stand a chance against Species 8472 with whom they have a locked war in the large map...
