Star Wars: The Mod Strikes Back

Happy birthday chris for the other day!

What can i do then folks?
Im trying to learn OpenFX, i know a bit of Gmax (although id still have to learn the ins and outs of importing and exporting with that, and obviously i have things like PSP and the GIMP). Your suggestions?

Well, right now, the most useful thing you can do is fourth our request in Kinboat's lottery, :D
BTW, a "Death Star" Wonder was just made. This inspired me to make a wonder/building list. Unfortunately, I counted only 7 things, so I'll put that off til' later :(.
 
Yet again I'm one step ahead, here's a preliminary list of Improvements & Wonders.

@Chris85: I put in a question on the OpenFX Tutorial page. Hopefully someone will be able to answer how to make good lasers.

Another question: I was placing resources on my galactic map, when I came upon an interesting dilemna. Since my planets are only one tile, which Bonus resource should I put on Naboo: Gungans or Nubians?

I reccommend downloading the Clone Wars Beta Mod and The Galactic Civil War Beta Mod, because we can build off of those mods by using the graphics and stuff from them.

Does anyone else here own Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds? Because we can extract stuff from that.

I'll update this list as we make progress or if I find more stuff that needs to be done.
 
Odin, why not put the unit request thread on your site as a list instead of a thread. It can be updated as and when needed then. It would also be a suitable place for the other lists (resources, etc) that we need.

Otherwise it seems such a shame to waste it.

Im gunna c if i can rustle up tech tree- what sorta techs do we want in it?

Sure, I'll put it on the site as well, but we also need a thread for people to add suggestions, volunteer to build them, etc. ;). As for the tech tree, just make something you think feels right. We'll fix it later. 4 or 5 eras, maybe?
 
Maybe we could have more generic techs like 'energy tech 1-8' or something and this leads to new laser technologies, leading to new forms of laser cannons, and it also leads to like different vehicle engines, starting at repulsorlifts and going up to high power fusion engines or something... have one tech as 'frigates', another as 'heavy frigates', another as 'crusiers', another as 'heavy cruisers' and another as 'command ships' or something...that kind of thing. Make suer there are also techs for the different resources that have been mentioned - like construction gives durasteel, and 'mining' for tibanna gas collection. Each civ will also have one special tech, that gives them their government, like 'New Order' for the Empire, 'Martial Law' for the Rebels, ''Emergency Powers' for the Republic and... something else...for the confederates. Seeing as there will be little change in the governments from here, it will not be important to create and that are attributed to technologies, as this could lead to rebels taking Emperor's New Order as their government.... which would be wrong... and stuff like that.
For different scenarios, like The Battle of Endor, which i have half done with my beta mod, there will be other new governments, like tribal council for the ewoks, but these don't need to be included in the current mod.

About the mod - i know you all want it, but its like 28MB, and theres only 16MB on the site, so it doesn't fit. I have found a site with 1GB of space, so might i suggest moving the site there? It would give us much more space to play with...
 
Well, I don't have the patience to upload everything again on a new server, ;). If you e-mail it to me, I can put it in rar or ace format, and dramatically reduce the size. Alternatively, I can set up a new site solely for downloads, :mischief:
 
Well i cant physically put all the tech tree together yet until ints finalised (obviously) but over the weekend il put together a maybe version of it (in writing).

Any good sites for resources etc that need to be included, because i dont know of much about tibanna gas, crystals, etc
 
Well, we can put in the resources later. Just come up with it un text, and we'll figure it out later. All we need right now is a skeleton.

No i mean literally the information about it. I dont know when tibanna gas was discovered ,by whom, how you extract it, etc. And the same for the other techs.

Perhaps if you showed me a link to the site with the background in it, i would sift through the reams of information and pick out what a good tech tree would include.

Oh and a question on the mod itself:
Is it going to have more emphasis on war, or building up an empire aswell (i.e. do i need to include similar types of things as granaries, cultural buildings, etc)?
