Ibn Abi Ishaq sat in his palace, wondering. The people of Arabia were happy, and the city was in a period of growth. He was satisfied with how he had brought his people together. He was not, however, shocked or surprised that a few ambitious souls wanted land in return for visiting the Mongols as an embassy.
Ah, the Mongols, he thought to himself. Beautiful yet savage at the same time, at once loyal and individualistic, at once cruel and cooperative. He had liked what he had heard about the Khan of the Mongols- although not appointed by God, he too had brought his people together in a time of need- and wanted to meet the man himself. Of course, this was an impossibility, as he could hardly leave his duties for an hour, let alone the months or even years that would be needed to find the way to Mongolia.
He had heard that many people wanted to go of course. There was a sort of fame and glory to be had. He would be more than willing to give these people land but he was afraid of them growing selfish and using the land to their own ends, without thinking of the people as a whole first. He would need to see proof that they were willing to sacrifice everything for the people as a whole.
So it turned out that they had chosen an appropriate quest after all. He would choose a few men to lead the expedition to Mongolia in the name of the Arabian people.
He went out to his balcony, where people were already gathered. He still wasn't used to the large crowds all staring directly at him, expecting him to be the perfect leader. "O divine God, help me to speak to them, and I pray that I'm not making a huge mistake" he prayed under his breath. And then he took a deep breath and began his speech.
"People of Makkah! You have known me to be a capable leader for ten years! On this tenth anniversary of me appointment to the difficult, yet honorable post I hold today, I wish for volunteers to go on a mission to bring embassy to the Mongolian people to learn what we can from them. Beware, those of you who go, for while you will receive glory, you also will spend long months or even years away from you wives, families, everybody you know. We need people of wit, we need people of strength, we need people who are gifted in all sorts of things to come. Those of you who wish to volunteer themselves, meet at the city center in two hours, so that I may address you with gratitude. Thank you, my people. Thank you, my God."
OOC: Two things, one, Tambien, I think the chance of me having a child should be upped since not siring either a daughter or a son in 10 years is kinda embarrassing in the era. Most eras, actually. Two, I wanted to be sure that my land is still being used for the good of the people or do I have to donate the ulma from the tile to the treasury?
OOC: Religious advisory has been established, I thought, with Civ'ed heading that.
