oh, I didnt notice I had that many. Ok, update is tomorrow.

The harsh desert sun beat upon the chief as he led his men out to battle. This battle would decide much of the future of the nation. He and his brave warriors needed to defeat the desert nomads to continue their expansion and dominance that they had enjoyed while living on the coast. It was time to put the skills of the warrior to the test. Years of practice and infighting would lead them to victory over the Saudis. To help the warriors, a new encampment was started specifically for young Qatari men to test their skills in combat.

ORDERS:
Grow army x1
Start Dubai Military Encampment (++army, +education)
Send 300 men to combat the Saudis
200 men expand along the coastlines

6 out of 8 now, just Albania and Denmark remain.

The mainland, now renamed to Jutland was secure. The homeland of the Danish people was about to be set, but a few more tribes resisted the expansion of the Copenhagen people. All this would change.

ORDERS
Continue to expand into the peninsula, and then head south.
Increase economy by using hte farms i conquer.

Plexus, send in the orders you've promised, why hold off the update?

Denmark continues to grow, expanding along at a brisk pace compared to other civilizations. Due to the growing need for more food for thier gorwing population, they have invented new ways of irrigating and cultivating thier land (+1 economy). Through Baltic sea trade, contact has been made with a tribe called the Rigans.

Brittany's army clashes with barbarians of western europe!! The fight is bloodier than what is expected, as the southern and middle tribes manage to hold Brittany to marginal gains. The Northern tribe, though, falls easily due to low manpower and a small army compared to the other tribes. Regular expansion is minimal, but with the conquests thats easily overlooked. Shortly after conquering the Northern Tribe, the Brittanians come into contact with the Dutch, a peaceful and advanced group of people with a medium sized area they call home.

Brittany Losses: 150 men, 10 UU

In Albania, disaster strikes. The Macedonians have launched a pre-emptive invasion of Albania, and have cut off a small part of eastern Albania from western Albania. Too escape the choas in the south, many Albanians have begun an expansion northwards. Although the situation looks bleak, a little bit of leadership may be all they need.

Albania Losses: 70 men

Carthiginian build the first known navy! And with this new tool, they have discovered a large island to the north of them that they call "Sicilia" or Sicily. Landing smoothly, they soon establish the small port of Hannibalae (subject to change by you, Nexus). But from further explorations, it seems the island is already occupied.....by groups of natives called Sicilians.
In Mainland Carthage, the attack on Libya begins. Searching for miles, the Carthaginians find very little to battle with. They become tired and soon return to Carthage to restock. Still, much land has been claimed and its been found that the Libyans have moved slightly more the east since thier last encounter.

In Antafan, expansion has been slowed due to the discovery of another civilization. Scouting west, they discover the Lower Egyptians, who seem to be at war with the Upper Egyptians. Not wanting to get involved, the expansion has almost completely ceased in the east (heh, rhyme). The discovery of the two civs has fueled the more rapid search for the secret of the wheel, and the completion of a grand pyramid that promises to deliver greatness to Antafan.

With the expansion westward, the Antafanians have come into contact with the Libyans, who are not happy about the incursions into thier land.

Huge battle in Arabia. Threatened by the size and strength of the Saudi barbs, Quatarese soldiers enter the desert fray ready to battle. The Sauds have grown exponentially the last hundred years, and thier army is scattered across the landscape. Due to that, land is easily taken. But it will likely change once the Saudis arrive in full force. Also, as they expand east a new village is founded to trade goods more easily from the more desolate areas of Quatar.

Two new civs spring up. In the Caucasius, east of the Caspian Sea, the Seljuk Turks, lead by the Chief Osman, have established thier own civilization and have miles and miles of open land to expand into. In the Mediterranean, the Minoan culture on the island of Crete has finally culuminated into the creation of the country of Minoa. Minoa is much advanced, having a superior knowledge in boat making, science, and even equality of men and women.

In Japan, the fuedal war continues. Due to the overwhelming power of the Kyoto faction, the Niigata faction has catipulated. But soon after that the Toyama faction, along with thier allies the Matsue, declared war on the Kyotans and have invaded the old Niigata faction. Luckily, the Osakans were planning an invasion at about that time and declared war on Toyama & Matsue, pushing all the way nearly to the sea. The Akitans might be a deciding factor in the war over Japan.

Yay, now to advance my dreams of a warrior empire... Good update, will all order-less players suffer penalties?

BTW, Copper Age will come around 3000 BC?

IC:

"Silence!" - yelled Teodrik - "Silence! We have returned victorious, the fools have been crushed, and most submitted. Those who didn't were enough to carry the loot here!"

"Silence!" - he yelled even louder as warriors cheered and all took large bites of the food taken from the northern tribe's supplies - "We were given this victory by Tarun and our ancestors! Yet an ewven greater one will come! The people to the east, the "Dutch" I've heard of, build great walls and call them forts. Tarun's Fort on Earth is pathetic when compared to that! So we shall have the slaves build and build greater fortifications, great wooden and mud walls, and training grounds for warriors! Tarun Wills It!"

"TARUN WILLS IT! TARUN WILLS IT! TARUN WILLS IT! TARUN WILLS IT!" - the hundreds of warriors roared out.

"What of the Dutch?" - asked a young warrior, Bezhar, as the yells ended - "Are they Tarun's people?"

"We know not, our scouts only saw their capital from afar and heard more of them from the slaves. We shall ask them" - Tedrik stood up in all his height - "And if they are not, then the same shall come to them! Tarun Shall Break Their Walls!"

"TARUN WILLS IT!"

Orders:
- Raise 50 Warriors and 50 Champions
- Attack the Gascogne tribe (SW France) with 250 Men and 40 Tarun's Champions
- Attack the south-eastern tribe with 200 Men and 50 Tarun's Champion
- Post conquest orders the same as previous (convert to Tarunism, those who disagree - Slaves)
- Start wonder Tarun's Fort (+Confidence, ++UU, ++Army). Have 90 in 100 slaves speed it up.

Diplomacy:

From: Brittany
To: Lowlands

We greet you! We have heard much of your people, but not enough. Do you follow the True Faith, Tarunism? If not, your people still could be saved, convert to the true faith and ally with our people, if not join into Brittany! All the Tarunist Warriors are equal before Tarun, and yours will be in the Warrior Council.

However, if you persist in the Pagan ways, then we shall do Tarun's Will, and take by force for Him what did not come by peace!!!

The island is surrounded by water, belted by calm sea is Crete,
beautiful, fertile land; quite lots of people there are,
towns it has ten of nine when all are put together.
Colourfully sings with babble it's languages: it has the Akhaia,
also the brave race of the Cretes, Cydons it has,
three tribes of the Dorians, and even quite Pelasgs.
But the biggest of the cities is Knossos: There, you can find Minos.

-Homer, first translated into Finnish by Otto Manninen and then into English by Finmaster.

The poem demonstrates the diveristy of Minoan culture and also the high developement of it: and indeed, already in around 3600 B.C. the Minoans were quite skilled in boat-making, science, and even equality of men and women. King Knossos, the son of Minos and the founder of the capital city, was convinced that this was the time to start Minoa's first seatrips abroad.

Shinju examined a crudely made diagram that showed basic battle plan. His greatest generals were there with him to plan an assault.

General Yoshi was the first to report, "Sir, our allies have pushed north and have nearly captured the Toyama capital."

"Yes, however we have problems in the north, the bastards have pushed into the niigata lands! We promised these people peace and they are constantly battered by war!" General Akari commented.

General Tsuyamo had a brilliant plan though. He led his troops in the Niigata battles and knew the area well. The people were friendly and wanted war no more.

"I have a plan... it will eradicate the toyama forces, reduce casualties and we will help our western allies capture the heart of our enemies' land."

Shinju was intrigued, "Speak Tsu, I am interested in your plan."

"We will first evacuate our Niigata civillians to the north, if Akita would like to save these innocent people they will allow them as refugees, I hope. With all lands evacuated the army can start with the plan. We will leave the former Niigata capital empty and draw our enemies there with false battle plans. With them at the center of the city we shall surround them and kill them like the graceful cat and the foolish rat. In the south we will send a detatchment of men to act as a diversion to the Toyama forces there and thus our allies may take the capital with less resistance."

Shinju was astonished! This man was incredibly intelligent.

"You are brilliant Tsu! Any objections to this plan?"

"No sir, we will help coordinate Tsu's strategy." Yoshi replied.

Later that night Shinju spoke with the people he has lived with all his life. He picked a peasant out of the street and asked what he thought of the war.

"As long as it's quick I think it will help Japan."

He continued this process until he had at least 50 opinions.

"Let us crush the heathens!"

"If the elders accept it, it must be needed."

"I believe in the wisdom of your decisions leader!"

"I will search my soul when I meditate to find the answer."

"I love you!"

"I hope our own people don't perish due to this conflict..."

All of the above just some examples of the response. His people were rallied behind his cause, Shinju would not dissapoint them. He hoped Tsuyamo was right...

To Akita
From Japan

Our innocent civillians are in the middle of the war. Without a safe place for them they will die needless deaths. We ask you to take them in until this conflict is over, we don't want blood spilt by defenseless civillians.

Orders :
Continue with the plan included in the story, it is KEY to the survival of Kyoto!
Complete the Grand Temple of Kyoto

Specifics of the Battle Plan :

Men stationed in Niigata will set up the trap outlined above in the former capital of Niigata. They will make it seem deserted but than surround the Toyama forces and eradicate them. 50 Spearmen will be sent south to act as a diversion, pillaging and causing unrest as to draw Toyama defenses away from the capital so our allies can capture their leaders. In the north all civillians of Niigata are to be evacuated further north as to not have them harmed.

Woah big post :O

Then war it is, hope its worth it.

I have a question : What are the effects of Confidence? Does it effect my overall position, does it improve certain aspects of my nation? Just curious because nothing is specified in the rules.

OOC: Hannibalae is a better city name than I could've come up with. ^__^

-Sicilian Port Town, Hannibalae-
-3600 BC-

A dull day it was, indeed. Hanno took a bite of the overcooked bird meat he held in his hand -- despite its blackened color and slightly crunchy texture, it tasted good. Then again, he hadn't eaten anything but fish, fish, fish and the occassional berry for the past three months, so it was likely just the difference in flavor.

Fishing was the staple of Sicilia's food supply; the Sicilian tribes held the best hunting lands on the island, forcing Hannibalae survive almost entirely on fish and gathered berries. As Hanno chewed on that meat, an idea struck him.

It was a bold idea, but it was something. The Sicilians, they hunted alongside animals which obeyed their commands. What were they called? Hanno asked himself. Bogs...hogs...no, dogs! Dogs hunted alongside the Sicilians! Perhaps that is why they were so successful at hunting and hadn't seen the need to fish?

Hanno would attempt to find a Sicilian to teach the Carthaginians to use these dogs to hunt -- and use in combat. He had been attacked by wild dogs, once, and while they were anything but a match for humans, they were NOT to be underestimated. While one man wielding a club could defeat and defend against another man armed with a club, one man armed with a club would have a lot more trouble dealing with another man with a club and a dog.

What could these warriors, who trained and fought alongside the animals, be called?

"Dog Warriors," Hanno mumbled to himself.

He would need to trade something to learn how to...to..."domesticate" dogs from the Sicilians, but it would be most worth it in the long run both in the military and in hunting...

-Mediterranean Peoples, the Carthaginians-

With the foundation of Hannibalae, Carthage's governmental structure begins to erode. Tribal councils work well with a single city, or even a few villages, but with the size and area that Carthage is starting to control, a simple council is no longer sufficient. It will not be long before the growing empire will be forced to change its government -- the real question is...will it be a peaceful or violent change?

- - - - -

1) Attempt to trade something [anything, so long as it's not something insane like the port of Hannibalae] with the Sicilian tribes for them to turn over knowledge of their dog domestication. If they refuse, then begin the shipping of 50 troops to Hannibalae and the raising of military troops on Sicilia. If they agree, then create the UU "Dog Warrior".

OOC: May I create a UU through an event? It seems more natural to me than to just have it be created from the start. If not, oh well. If so, then the stats are as follows:

Dog Warrior [slightly enhanced attack power, however, they require more food to sustain themselves due to the dogs and cannot venture as far from a city.]

2) Continue expansion to the west along the coast using 100 warriors.

3) Establish camps on the eastern edge of Carthaginian territory, nearest to suspected Libyan territory. Send 100 soldiers to guard the borders from these camps.

4) Increase Carthage's navy by at most five canoes [again].
