SteamNES

But leaving a game for TWO YEARS? That's making a lot of assumptions that this world won't have been annihilated by sparks by then. ;)

Hell, I'll be in university in two years.

July, Year Three

The Anglian Civil War has reached its climax. Peter Williams, who masterminded the entire conflict, has returned, and seized the last small bit of power from the ‘New’ Government of Horatio Edwards. With the collapse of democracy now complete, many people loyal to the ‘New Government’ defected, including a large amount of the military, refusing to be led by an honourless, title-less businessman. However, those that remained steeled themselves, and prepared to end the war.

Many of the defectors were drawn to the communist banner of Simon MacTavish, who found his power expanding dramatically. The remainder joined Lord Blacktyde’s southern force, or simply disbanded.

Knowing that the New Government was hopeless without a victory immediately, what with the tides of revolution spreading throughout the common people, Peter Williams ordered a full-out assault against the city of Oxford. With a force of a dozen steamhulks crafted by the Spark himself, multiple Steam Destroyers, countless Megaguns, and a respectable infantry/cavalry contingent, the London-based forces under the command of Field Marshall Gaig approached the city walls. Oxford was defended by a significant airforce, numerous stationary mechanical defences, and a huge militia force. Their early assaults quickly cracked the walls, though the latest-generation Ryanbots dealt terrible damage to the attackers. Elite Steamhulks, nigh-near impervious to damage, smashed into the city, destroyed only by a few lucky shots from the defenders and explosives. Meanwhile, Kate Aylors airships rained death from above. Only two airships were taken down, one from a pilot error and another from a perfectly-aimed Megagun shot.

Despite these advantages, sturdy Steamhulks and rickety, massive Steam Destroyers made an unstoppable advance. Huge swathes of Oxford were reduced to rubble, either by the invaders or the deadly traps laid by Ryan Amedeus.

Just before the forces of Oxford began to order an evacuation of the city, however, the attackers began to pull back. For at that time, the mob/mechanical army of Lord Gabriel Blacktyde arrived, supported by the first great Military Airship, Cid Hibiki’s Kraken. The New Government army held for a brief while, then the side collapsed. Men were killed, blood flowed, machines toppled and smashed... and within the hour, the New Government’s army was shattered. A week later, the parliament was dissolved. Peter Williams, his armies shattered and power lost, tried to escape by airship. He was intercepted near the Gallique coast by more of Hibiki’s airships, and shot down, crashing into the ocean far below. The airships, lacking a safe means of landing in water, were unable to search for bodies.

Since the fall of Peter Williams, Anglia has regained a semblance of peace. However, the island is torn between Blacktyde’s aristocratic government and MacTavish’ communists, who are about as ideologically incompatible is groups can get. Unless a formal agreement is made soon, Anglia will fall back into warfare.

William Weir, avoiding the communists, has traveled from Scota to Southern Anglia.

Eirian warlords, fearing reconquest by a united Anglia, have begun to organize, to set up an organized, united republic.

Cid Hibiki has been working overtime, building exotic new combat airships. His actions, in light of recent militarism shown by the gifted in other parts of the world, has the government of Medland somewhat on-edge. The demonstration of the Kraken’s power in Anglia hasn’t done much to help this feeling.

King Octavian Germaneski (who changed his last name back to its non Magnetized- form) of Pjolaka has secured his reign by crushing all of the rebel nobility, and signing peace with Allemany (giving away some land) and Rossovy (giving them 100 mechanical soldiers). His advisors suggest that he takes a wife from the Pjolak nobility, to ensure that his lineage survives.

In an almost inevitable development, the last pocket east of the Gangha was crushed, and Khuri forces assaulted Khalkata. The city was crushed, and the succeeding months were occupied with crushing the rebellions and hunting down the escaped king, both missions successful. Now Shah Abbas, more popular than ever before, begins to prepare his forces. There is little doubt that Duria is the next target.

Meanwhile, Rowan Becket, the Anglian expatriate, has been captured by the Sparks, al-Shamdli and Jeremy Sieko. Al-Shamdli wishes for another spark to work under Khur’s command, while Sieko, whose crippled nature only became worse due to an incident involving a student pilot attacking him and flying off with a Cirrus rotary flier. However, all of these points are without importance for the time being, as Rowan Becket had his arms and several other limbs broken earlier, either during the invasion or his capture by Al-Shamdli’s agents.

Akira Light has designed a deadly new ‘Steam Walker’ for use in the Nihojones military. Imperial Nihojon is now definitely on the rise. It has made several demands of Singuo for land (none of which have yet been acted on) and is beginning to rapidly industrialize.

Julius Magnus and the passengers of the Unicorn have been captured by Turquish agents. Turqui, alarmed by the spark-driven militarism of the rising power of Khur, is using Magnus as a means to develop their technology. While he is co-operating to an extent, the majority of his resources are spent in plotting an escape.

Malik al-Safwani, returning to Rabiyya, set out to end Father Leonardo’s reign of terror once and for all. Spending several months hunting the man down, he finally found him as the fallen Espanic clergyman’s caravan was moving between bases. Malik attacked at night, and succeeded in mortally wounding Leonardo. However, his assault was cut short by the arrival of the half-human, half-mechanical Inquisitors. Malik destroyed several before being shot multiple times in the head and chest. Leonardo, badly wounded was unable to convert the body, but that was these things were the least of his problems. Rabiyyan forces, alerted to Leonardo’s position, discovered and assaulted his forces. In a desperate battle, Leonardo’s forces were destroyed. Only the Inquisitor Raul and the Crusader managed to escape to the north, bringing Leonardo’s body with them.

Great update! And Leonardo finally gets what he deserves... ;)

I'm rather sorry I didn't get to write another story, I just haven't had oodles of time. I suppose I will have to have Jeremy flash-back to a few things to make the time fit properly; anyways, sorry again for not getting another story out...

Oh yes. Finally the war is over... for now, at least. Hm hm hm... this is going to get very interesting.

Splendid update.

Oh bugger.

Well, I shall make a story soon.

Great update!

signing peace with Allemany (giving away some land)

Inasmuch as Allemany is a very loose confederacy at the most, that will probably cause lots of issues over integration and ownership, possibly spilling over into a general political crisis of this probably very unstable system. Let's not miss a crisis opportunity here! ;)

while Sieko, whose crippled nature only became worse due to an incident involving a student pilot attacking him and flying off with a Cirrus rotary flier.

While Sieko what? ;)

Don't worry, I forget to finish sentences all the time too.

The red in Anglia is under Blacktyde's control, right? Also, that blob near Khalkata is Rowan, correct?

And Leonardo finally gets what he deserves...

They can rebuild him. They have the technology. ;)

By the way, is it a fair assumption that I may control the actions of certain other nations to some extent if it's realistic and relevant to the story? Don't worry, I mostly plan on making my life more difficult. :p

While Sieko's crippled nature only became worse... It should have said that. I must have changed my mind halfway through the sentence.

Red Anglia is under Blacktyde's control.

The Alleman government gave the turned-over areas to the nobles who had lost the lands during the last territorial conflict.

Red Anglia is under Blacktyde's control.

Interesting. Incidentally, what has the Anglican king been up to for the last three years? I don't believe he has been mentioned, but it is a monarchy, right?

The Alleman government gave the turned-over areas to the nobles who had lost the lands during the last territorial conflict.

Shame. ;) Still, those nobles can squabble amongst each other, no?

The Anglian King and Royal Family has remained largely unmolested in their Palace near London. However, Simon MacTavish' forces are advancing in that direction rapidly. Their stance towards the monarchy remains to be seen.

@das- If they weren't squabbling, they wouldn't be so divided. :p

@ Lord Iggy: Since this is fire/steam related, can i have an inferno turd?

Language. We're mature here, remember?
In every sense of the word but the word itself.

Story as soon as able, probably tomorrow night.

I take away what I said earlier. Instead, I pull p\back my return date to: After the SS-Company has reached full strength.

That is: 10 Walkers, 4 War Armors, and ~400 troopers.

Hopefully, production speed is exponential. Otherwise, I'll wait another game year or more.

Well, now that I've offically buggered up a country, I'm afraid I may back out. I may join as a new character later, but for now, I'm out. Peter Williams is dead.

So, will the Hall of the Gifted be updated? Or is it too early to bury Leonardo?

Also, in my stats, it might make sense to add the paraboloid artillery (2-3 pieces) to the Forces.
