The legionary requires copper, the imperial one iron. Did you have a source of copper?

Currently, the mirmillon upgrades in fact to pikes: spearman and flavour spearman -> phalanx -> hoplite -> pikes.

I have corrected it to pikeman.

Egypt can get both Camel Warriors and War Chariots. Thats realistic, but Camel Warriors are much better than War Chariots and cost the same. The War Chariots only use is to get an GA, but usually you dont even want a GA so early in game. Its true that War Chariots come earlier than Camel Warriors, but I had´nt even completet my first War Chariot when I could build Camel Warriors.

My point-give War Chariots 5 attack:)

I have four ideas that I could include in the mod, and I'd like your feedback before doing it :
- I think I will increase the cost of techs, so you have enough time to build your units ;o). What should be the increase? x1.5 ? x2? More?
- I may add some "applied tech", ie tech which are not prerequesite, are not mandatory for this age, but give specific units, that will be used only by a civilization that needs them. For instance, their could be : Hussar, Dragoon, Cuirrassier. These techs would need "Cavalry tactics", or "Camerly" and "Elephant training", "Horse archer"... Only India, Persia or Carthage should try to discover elephant training, as it is useless to other civ.
- I may increase the firing range of all firing units : all infantry will have 1, early artillery and ships will also have 1. Late artillery and ships will get 2, and even 3 for some (missile launching unit). Why? First, I want to differentiate better between shock units and firing units. I also want to give more punch to archer. You may consider that the range of 1 for infantry is to big, because a square can be quite large. Oh. What about catapult? Did they really fire several kilometers away? With this change, you may use your archer to fire at ennemy units, then finish them with you assault troops. If you are afraid that with this you can fire at ennemy units without fear of retaliation, don't forget that among the defenders, there could also very well be some archers!
- I'm also thinking of increasing the cost of all terrains, so the minimum cost is 1. This way, I could give to some units the ignore grassland cost flag. This could be great for camel, that could move fast in desert, but not in grassland, or the opposite for cavalry.

another question.

It starts to be hard to know which units are available.

So I'd like to make civilization unit lines, showing in a page the name of the different units, in upgrade path.

Semthing like

Hunter - archer - crossbowman -> Hunter - archer - longbowman
(generic -> English)

Harquebusier - Musket - Musketeer - Fusillier - Rifleman (generic)
Arquebuse - Garde Francaise - Mousquetaire - Fusillier - Infanterie de ligne (French).

The question is : where can I put these lines?

1- In the civilization description of the civilopedia : then I wil have to remove the description text.

2- As new game concept : "French lines", "Arab lines", etc.

The techs I would say 2.0 and I do not like the idea of giving infantry range attack, now I do not care about the boats and artillery but not infantry. the "applied tech" sounds cool, and increasing the cost of all terrains is cool.

I think the best is you create new game concept entries like "light infantery", "heavy infantry", "light tanks" and so on. Then it is easy to compare the diferrents between i.e. french and english infantry units.

Example:
GENERIC: Harquebusier - Musket - Musketeer - Fusillier - Rifleman
FRENCH: Arquebuse - Garde Francaise - Mousquetaire - Fusillier - Infanterie de ligne
ENGLISH: xx - yy - zz - aa - bb
(sorry I don't remember the english unit names ;))

Could you put this in the Civ description thats so when I am looking for a civ to be I no what units I will have.:)

Hi Steph I played your mod the last few days. My congratulation: it's great.

I had only one problem: The file Pictish warrior.ini includes the line
FORTIFYHOLD=.\Swordsman\SwordmanFortify .wav
Prob: one point is missing beside the first backslash. Right string:
FORTIFYHOLD=..\Swordsman\SwordmanFortify .wav

Second, the search-directory-entry for the mod is
..\Scenarios\Steph;..\Scenarios\TETurkhan;..\Extras\Medieval Japan;..\Extras\World War II
I believe not all of us have these directories. So it is possible the mod crashes (:crazyeye: ).

Third I made minor changes for the bonusvalues of the terrains:
Mountains - 3 shields
Desert - 0 food, no cities allowed
Forest - 1 shield
Jungle - no cities allowed

error.gif

I played a pretty cool game, however I got these to errors. I got the leader.ini first, so I just corrected the PediaIcon.txt(Aminame) and played again. I stopped when the other error came, so I cant tell you whats wrong there.

If I do it here, then the current description will be lost, that's why I thought I coudl use game concepts.

All of you should have it, it's installed with PTW.

Interesting changes. I think I will also make no city allowed in mountains.

I don't know why you get the error on the leader, I didn't change aything here. Can someone else confirm?
Are your sure it doesn't come from your own moding?

Second, about the Knight Death, there is a space that should not be there. But I don't feel like checking the ini one by one.... Do you have an idea of what unit could cause the bug?

I havent changed the anciant leader ever, as far as I remember. The leader folder was called Leader Anciant Times, in the pediaIcons, however the folder was just called Leader Anciant, take look yourself:)

It was the Cavalier, not the (Norman)Knight.

On my computer it is called Leader Ancient Times :confused:

The Armies of the World series is just a kind of preview, where I put in one screenshots the units a given civilization get in my mod, with its standard civilization colors.

For now, only the two first eras and land units, excluding artillery and special units, will be covered.
