Imperial Japanese Games, MacArthur Stadium, Kyoto, Honshu, Japan

The Imperial Games were held in Kyoto every four years, one year before the Olympic Games.
Originally the games were Japans own mini Olympics, back when the islands were still divided into rival tribal states such as the Ainu, and Tokugawa tribes. But in recent years it had become the preparatory stage for Japans entrants into the world wide Olympics, men and women came to the games to compete for the honour of gaining a place in Japans summer Olympic team, and from the victors the Light Of Heaven would select 2 for each event to represent his honour on the Japanese team at the Olympics.
This year the games were held on the anniversary of General MacArthurs death, in the Stadium named for him. Since Emperor Heiro Shoza came to be the Light of Heaven he forbade the national day of moarning which occured every year on the day of the great Generals death, and instead decided that celebrations would be held in his honour on that day, and it happened that the Imperial Games occured on the same day this year.
At the games, the Light of Heaven would not in person attend, but his first adviser, or perhaps the Dowager Empress, would appear in his place. This tradition came from a time when the Emperor of Japan was far removed from his people and was seen to be too busy to attend such a frivolous event as the Games.
Needless to say that once again Emperor Hiero Shoze defied tradition and made his personal appearance at the games, flanked by his mother the Dowager Empress, and his First Adviser. Also at his side was none other than Commissar Mao leader of the Peoples Republic of China.

The stadium was abuzz with activity, staff running around like headless chickens trying to complete the final preparations for the Games, people wonder what was taking so long, and celebraties, and visiting dignataries gossiping amongst themselves about the recent crises abroad.
Suddenly without reason the activity ceased and silence reigned over the stadium, all eyes turned towards the centre of the stadium, out on the field stood a lone Imperial Soldier, even the Imperial Guard of old would never appear at the Games, so the appearance of one now astounded everyone into utter silence.
The Imperial White stands before a microphone, he points upwards towards the Imperial Box, and speaks.
"The Light of Heaven, 91 times Emperor, Warlord Hiero Shoza Takashi!"

All eyes avert to the Imperial box, a rapturous silence still pervading over the crowd, the Box coated in darkness, unable to see anything, the crowd simultaneously squints their eyes.
Sweeping out of the darkness, The Light Of Heaven, clad in his white and gold ceremonial over-robes, and a large and weighty ceremonial crowd upon his brow.
Holding his head high, the light seems to wash down upon him, making it seem as if the Light itself was emanating from him, he flinches slightly as the entire stadium erupts into loud cheering and enthusiastic applause.
The applause seems to get louder as the Dowager Empress steps into the light behind him, and louder still as the respected First Adviser, widely regarded as the wisest man in the Empire, next to the Emperor of course, stepped into the light.
Again abruptly everything stops and alomost syncronised the crowds collective mouth drops open as Commisar Mao steps out of the light to stand beside the Emperor of Japan, clad in red cerebmonial robs similar to the Light of Heavens, robes which were reserved for the old Emperor of China, the difference being that his crown was smaller and he wore the symbol of Communism, the hammer and sickle, and the red star of China.

Everyone knew that some state leader would be present during the games, everyone believed it to be the President of the USA, certainly no one predicted that it would be the Commisar Mao, clad in the Imperial robes of China.
Appearing as he had with the Light of Heaven, has not only endorsed him as a friend of Japan, but as the undisputed leader, and lifelong Emperor of China, in the eyes of the Japanese people.
Without uttering a word the Light of Heaven in one swift action overturned the declaration of his father and Grandfather that Communists were evil and that the Communist party was not the rightful leadership of China. Now no Japanese person would lay even a word against the Chinese without their Emperors permission, and no Japanese would stand by and allow Mao to be removed from power in Beijing. Mao had essentially been declared the Twin Emperor of the far East, by the Light of Heaven.

"Let the Games begin" Hiero calls out to the crowd, signalling the beginning of the Games.

To Japan:
We appreciate your recognition of the true China. However, we find it impossible to set up a Monarchy in Korea. We have promised the Americans free elections, that will choose either Communism or Democracy. We hope that our Japanese friends will accept the Communist government in Korea that we are certain the wise Korean people will elect.

Additional Diplomacy=
To: USSR
From: Japan

Perhaps you misunderstand our motives.
We ask for a constitutional monarchy for we require in Korea a friend who will not be caught up in all the nonsense of Communism v Capitalism.
A monarchy in Korea, led by their rightful ruler Zhuge Liang, is a reasonable third way, would you not agree?

To Japan:
We can meet on the half with an Constutial Monarchy, election shall be held every 4 year.

Additional Diplomacy=
To: USA and USSR
From: Japan

Excellent we are pleased that Emperor Zhuge Liang will assume his rightful place as ruler of the Kingdom of Korea.
We are glad that we could solve this problem amicably.

OOC: Sorry folks, I've got a ton of Earth Science homework that will keep me from updating (likely for the next few days.) I will try to get one done by Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. I apologize.

To Japan:
Then it is decided. This is well.

To Japan *secret*: Tell me, friend, as you know this new Korean King better than I. Towards what side does he lean in his policies; is he a friend of Russia or one of the West?

To: USSR *secret*
From: Empire of Japan

Zhuge Liang fled Korea when it was annexed by the Republic of China before the war.
He was but a boy at the time, but he remembers well the horrors the Chinese Democratic government inflicted upon his nation, as a result he has no love for the capitalists.
However we believe him to be a reasonable man, otherwise we wouldnt not have suggested him as a viable alternative to a democratic or communist system, so we think that he would try to enjoy a similar relationship enjoyed by the Empire of Japan with the USSR and the West.

Turn 5 Update

Cold War cools down in Russia! The American invasion of Russia, and Russia's swift counterattack, brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. However, America quickly pulled out and agreed to pre-war borders, accept concerning Korea. Had war continued, a nuclear exchange would have certainly occurred.

Israelis force Egyptians back to Suez! In Israel, the Egyptian army was thrown from Jewish soil and sent packing back to the Suez Canal. However, new waves of soldiers from throughout Africa have begun to arrive in Suez and Port Said, ready to continue the fight. The Egyptians are now getting more desperate, as Israeli tanks come within sight of the Egyptian homeland.

Nuclear war in the Middle East! In response to Iraq's invasion, Iran unleashed the full fury of two nuclear weapons upon Iraq. The first was dropped on Iraqi troops in Iran, killing thousands and destroying the best equipment the Iraqis had. The majority of the Russian- and American-made tanks in the Iraqi army were hit by the blast. The invasion force has been all but destroyed. The second bomb was dropped on Baghdad, Iraq's capital and a highly-populated metropolitan and industrial center. The blast incinerated the heart of the city; anything within 10 miles of ground zero disappeared from the face of the earth. The blast had nearly 100% fatality for about 30 miles, almost 80% fatality at 40 miles, and 60% fatality at 50 miles. Deaths from flying shrapnel, residual fires, and residual building collapses numbered in the thousands. The radioactive fallout that spread throughout Baghdad and the surrounding areas (as well as that which spread throughout Iran after the tactical bombing) killed and injured many more. The total casualty toll is estimated at about 500,000 dead, 1.5 million wounded, and many more who will feel the effects of cancer and radiation poisoning. Iraq's economy has been crippled by the destruction of Baghdad and the damage to surroudning areas. The people are rioting, as they have no respect left in their leader. Neighboring Saudi Arabia has complained of deaths in border cities from the radiation and fallout; it is unclear if Arabia will retaliate against Iran.

Turks, Brits fight for Iran! In a repeat performance of the Russo-Iranian War, British troops fought alongside Iranians against Iraqi forces. Several British soldiers were killed in battle, and 2 prisoners being held by the Iraqi's were killed in the nuclear blast. Meanwhile, in northern Iraq, Turkish counterinvasion forces stormed across the border. Taking advantage of the fact that nearly Iraqi troops were on the offensive, Turkey easilly took much of the Iraqi north. A number of Kurdish tribes, tired of the Iraqi regime, alligned themselves with the Turks and willingly turned over their land.

Peru collapses; Brazil gains. The recently-defeated Peru finally collapsed under the strain of economic and social and instability. The anarchic territory was quickly annexed by Brazil, which brought law to the land. Peru has ceased to exist.

Freedom rings in Eastern Asia! Korea, Taiwan, and Okinawa gained independence from their mother countries. Korea, which had belonged to the United States prior to the Chinese invasion in retaliation for America's war with Russia, was granted its freedom and set up a Constitutional Monarchy. Japanese officials have set up embassies in Taegu, the capital, and are helping the fledgling government establish itself. The ex-Japanese islands have been set up as vassal states of Japan, with partial autonomy over themselves. (OOC: Plexus, if you still want to rule Taiwan, you can lead this new gov't.)

Unrest over in India! Due to Britain's timely intervention in India, the various factions have ceased hostilities and are now quite happy in their respective borders.

New nuclear power in the world! France has built 2 atomic weapons.

Palestinians re-initiate terror war in Israel! The Palestinian minority in Israel, in support of the Arabic Egyptians, have restarted their terror war. Two bombs exploded in Tel-Aviv, injuring 6 people. In Jerusalem, 3 gunmen ambushed and shot Jewish religious scholars as they walked to their theology class. Israeli police later shot the 3 gunmen dead.
