stJNES5.1: From the Beginning

Saban Trade State

The people of Saba, even when shocked and extremely angry at Egypt for accepting the peace deal, eventually let it go, maybe the mukkaribs would stop their military rampage and eventually go for peace and prosperity. The mukkaribs, however, had no intention of stopping and continued with their warmongering, many even doubted they cared what happened to Egypt, that they only wanted more land. In contrast, most of the Sabanese had only wanted to develop a prosperous economy and buy all the land that they required. Peace was usually considered essential for this to happen, but with the mukkarib-backed Ku****e rebellion and upcoming all-out war with Antigot, the people thought this impossible with their current rulers still in power. With the help of 3/4 of the army and 2/3 of the navy (most military personnel also shared this view and defended it fiercely), all the mukkaribs' forces were expelled out of the country, the remaining naval ships being reassimiliated or the destroyed and the remaining quarter of the army going to Kush with the mukkaribs in hope of installing a new government their under the army and the religious leaders. Meanwhile, the rest of the Saba underwent a radical change in government. In the anarchy following the wake of the fall of the mukkaribs, the rich had become the top dogs in the government, the largest businesses forming a ruling council which governed everything. All was not happy as the Ethiopian colonies still longed for the mukkaribs. The traitors, as viewed by the Arabian Sabanese, were kicked out of the country and into the vast desert west of the Nile. The new plutocracy had almost no use for the military, but they decided against it; even though they would focus on the economy, and, to a lesser extent education, a military would be needed to defend the precious consumers.

OOC: STS= Saban Trade State

To Arabia: We no longer wish for this petty war, send troops if you must, but we believe the power of capital is stronger than that of the military. An NAP is still welcomed by us, however. We need to discuss something of greater importance privately. A messenger will be sent to Arabia. Also, come to the festival of independence in Saba, friends. Come in 3 months

To Kush: Our former leaders have wronged you. We will use our military to help you kill the self-righteous sons of pigs. The people of the STS ask for peace, trade, and NAP, if that is not too much. We wish for you to be able to attend the festival of independence in Saba 3 months from now.

To Antigot: The mukkaribs, it seems have not only offended us, but have also wronged Antigot. We do not wish our relations to be left as the mukkaribs have left it, we want our people to be in harmony with one another. That is why the STS asks for a NAP and trade. We invite you along, along with Kush to attend a great festival in the city of Saba itself, to celebrate the creation of the STS 3 months from now.

to STS:
It is indeed very far away. Have any idea how could we get to your festival?
Other than that NAP and Trade accepted.

To Antigot: We will provide the shuttle to Saba from Egypt through the Red Sea, you may choose who come to the festival. Maybe some Antigotian citizens in the Egyptian territories?

To STS
From Kush

You have already wronged us enough. Leave us be, and we shall go onto our own course.

EDIT: guys, it would be nice if some of you would send orders early, so I can start with the update and not have to write it all at once.

Jason can you come onto AIM, if you do then I can start my orders.

To Muscovy
From Teutonic Order

To Muscovy
From Silesia

Okay.

To Muscovy
From Sarmatia, Bulgars

We see what you do to neighbors! No way.

Muscovy

Rejoicing was going on throughout the cities of Muscovy. The largest celebration was obviously in the capital itself - Moscow. In the Rurik Palace, the Tsar invited all the boyars - the members of the aristocracy given administration over specific cities and regions - of Muscovy for a grand party.
Also invited were other prominent members of the Muscovite aristocracy, all invitees obviously attending this great honor of being in the Tsar's presence. And in any case, anyone who was invited but didn't show up would not live to see the light of another day, so it was an honor and obligation.
In the middle of dinner, Tsar Boris I Rurik began to explain why he invited the non-boyars. "I invited you all here today to not only celebrate the end of the barbaric Scythians, but also to celebrate the establishment of the Scythian Province as part of the Muscovite Empire. The new administrators of the new regions are the people I have invited that don't already have their own region." The guests had amazed glares as they kept their eyes on the Tsar. "Also, I have successfully signed Non-Aggression Pacts with both the Silesians and the Teutonic Order, to our west. Unfortunately, on the southern and eastern diplomatic front, I have not yet been successful in convincing the Bulgars and Sarmatia to sign an alliance with us. They do not trust us because of the debacle with the Scythian barbarians. But maybe hopefully, in time, we will be able to all bask in common friendship.
However, now is the time to continue the celebration, and then when the night comes to an end, the new boyars will receive their assignments and relocations.
Remember that the Scythian Province is full of people that were not ours and can't just be taken with no hardships. Not only is our mission to Muscovize them but also to ensure that under the reign of the Tsars of Muscovy, their lives will be infinitely better than under their former warlords."
And so the party continued. Dinner... then the wives of the Tsar and guests came out and the dance began... The next morning, the new boyars began to depart to their homes - well, their former homes, anyway - to gather their belongings and servants and children and head south.

Orders will be done once I get the Bulgars' and Sarmatia's answer.

From Muscovy
To Sarmatia and the Volga Bulgars:
The Scythians, when our war began, were not even a civilization. It's a surprise they didn't try to attack you as well. By the time they got together and organized into a nation, the Muscovite troops and the Scythian [ex]barbarians had been at war for years, and a lasting peace would not have been possible - a vendetta between our people would threaten that a war would break out at any time possible.
Meanwhile, your two nations are our neighbors and we recognize you as such and respect you as fellow nations. We would not dream of attacking you. If we wanted to war with you we would not have wanted to sign NAPs with you - but we did want non-aggression with you. All we want is your friendship and peace. We have no designs on either the Volga River valley of the Bulgars nor the Trans-Caucasus of Sarmatia.
So do you want to ally with us? If not, then maybe eventually we can all come to a common understanding and in the meanwhile sign trade agreements?

Two more questions:
Since I'm now Iron Age (last turn I was Bronze Age still),
1. Do I have to spend any economy to upgrade my Army to Iron Age?
2. Do I lose my Rurik Riders now since they were Bronze Age Unique Units?
Hoping the answer is "no" for both questions.

The Teutonic Order is to the south of me right?

Orders:
Spend those 4 SP that were meant for the trade route to Recruit Swordsmen
Spend 3 SP building galleys
Continue Working on Wonder (0/6->3/6)

Expand further into denmark with 1500 Highlanders
Use 60 Galleys to partrol the coasts of great britain and ward off Viking Rains
Use 5000 Highlanders to Protect great britain
Keep protecting n.ireland with the Spearmen, Archers and Horsemen.

STS

Use 100 men to build a road from Saba to Hadramawt, slaves may be used to replace some of the men if they get tired.

Encourage merchants to trade with Antigot, Egypt, Kush, and Arabia. This should allow more a more modern selection of iron-age goods to our people.

Spend 1 SP on a wonder: the Great Pathway of Saba (Free traderoute to Arabia and Assyria, +1 eco level) 0/? -> 1/?

Spend 1 SP on research of the Iron Age.

Spend 1 SP on building temples to try to compensate for the loss of knowledge brought on by going into another age.

Withdraw all men from Kush and start expanding south, north, and east of the Arabian coastline, making sure not to agitate any natives.

From: Arabia
To: Saban Trade State

Would it be possible to arrange an official trade route? (next turn though, I just sent orders for this one)
