The battle was over. It was a victory, a total victory. But a thousand horrible defeats would have been much better.

The casualties weren't too big if one were to judge by quantity. But by quality... Most of those dead were great men, noble men. Brave, wise... and even the deaths of all those nobles were nothing compared to the most important casualty.

Just some statistical unit, just one man. But this man was above ordinary human beings. He was King Harimitra the Pacific. The builder of the modern Magadhan paradise, of the flourishing economy and of the Enlightenment. There was something of an irony in the fact that Harimitra, one of the most peaceful rulers in the world's history, died in battle.

The troops didn't care about the irony. They were panicking. They were crying. A few even commited suicide when they heard that there was no way to save Harimitra. It was a mass hysteria.

And amidst it, nobody noticed the absence of Prince Gautama's body.

---

Darkness and light alternated, and gods in their chariots fought on the divine battlefield. There was discord in the heavens. Gautama was troubled by this.

He was dead. His mind accepted it, but his heart did not, it simply ignored his mind's constant whinings about this fact. He was dead, and his spirit was wandering.

Light and darkness, darkness and light... Pain, and delight, and emptiness, and fullness...

Voices and noises, queer feelings and a reemergence...

"Gone, gone, gone beyond gone altogether beyond, O what an awakening, all hail!"

---

Gautama awoke near a small village, refreshed and feeling very odd, with the chaos of the battlefield seeming like it happened... in another life. Yet here he was, at a small village. The people there spoke an odd dialect, but they gave him some food and allowed him to rest in one of their small houses. A nice, quiet... good village. Sadly, many of the early virtues were lost in the cities...

Gautama rested, yet awoke on the other day (or in the other week? month? year?) somewhere else entirely. Underneath a pipal tree. Odd were the things that happened to Gautama, and so he lay down to rest there, but his dreams troubled him once more. He remembered... The Battlefield. It was not the same one as before; but it was a similarily chaotic battle. Gods, demons and mortals charged at each other, killing and dying, and rising from the dead to fight again. War went on throughout the world, with strange, strange tribes fighting along a great river, in a fertile plain with unfamiliar herbs, in a desert, at a sandstoine city, between two rivers... Battles filled the world, and the epicenter of it all was a country which was entirely foreign yet strangely familiar.

Somehow, Gautama knew - this was Hel-vasha. Light and darkness struggled for this land, and for the world. Armies looted and pillaged, and to maintain them the rulers had to overtax their people - and there was poverty, disease and suffering. All that is evil came from this, came from war.

But how to stop all wars?

---

Gautama meditated for many, many long hours. And it is said that it was then that he reached Enlightenment.

Meanwhile, in Magadha, things begun to spiral out of control...

I'm really irritated that Jason took it upon himself to make me speak out against you....

Northen Dalmatia
From Thrace

You are no longer a power, lay down your weapons and you will be granted amnesty. I will uphold your local traditions and so on.

To Thrace and Dalmatia from Helvetia

We will be willing to accept any and all refugees who are not of Teutonic or Sionist heritage. That way all of those who do not wish to become vassals of Thrace can instead become vassals of Helvetia where you will be granted freedom. This way Thrace will not suffer from guerrilas or insurgencies, Helvetia will gain from the skilled labor and increased population and Dalmatian citizens who hate Thrace can find a new home away from bitter memories.

The Freedom Prospectors of Helvetia
The iron spade he had been allowed sank deeply into the Earth, he shoveled, shoveled rinsed sand in the river and every day, every day he looked for gold, silver, iron; any valuable mineral. He had been allowed a useful tool under watchful eyes and the guards followed him around every day. He was one of two-three hundred men, skilled in the knowledge of finding valuable minerals whom had been taken as a slave by the Helvetian Mountain. The work would never end, not for him. He was given food and water, forced to sleep not far from his work. But that was alright with him, that way he might find something if he could dig and dig, and rinse and rinse until the flesh became redly and he started to bleed. He would continue, patch his arms with cloth he was afforded by his captors, oh they would let his arms heal if they thought he was going to die or be crippled for life. If he could work no more he would be transferred to one of the farms...

The young man had been the apprentice of a goldsmith, he was only twentysix years old and in the late of his prime. He wished to see his family, his son, wife and daughter again. But Helvetia hated him, hated his kind. His kind would work to death. He was never given any news of his family, they were in the farms; maybe dead now.

But he couldn't give up, if he found gold, gold, silver, bronze anything useful like the Fins and they would give him and his family their freedom. These accursed mountains! In his heart he knew there was ore of some sort, waiting to be found. Perhaps he needed to dig deeper, he could organize a team. Or maybe what he needed to do was search on the hillsided where the particular fungi resided. He had oft observed it around the old iron mines.

Carl, Carl had become a freeman. He had even been given his own house, he had become a tailor. He had known Carl from the old days, he had worked together with him on these steep slopes rich with the hardy topsoil that promised iron, bronze, tin or something, something.
Carl was a free man now, he would send him warm clothes and tidbits of food carefully sifted through by the guards. Oh no, he wasn't foolish why would he rebel? He would only be killed.
Only one thing mattered to him now, he wanted to be free. He had to save his family from the labor camp. Then he would leave Helvetia for the New German nation or maybe a southern port. The Helvetians had promised they would give him a small sum of money to get his sorry family out of their nation, they knew he hated them. They were men of honor, he could sense that. They would honor their promise like they had with Carl.

So he kept on digging, until the day when he would make the Helvetians rich and buy the freedom of his family and his clan. Then he would make a sacrifice to the dead in a temple in the Capital of Helvetia before travelling south in a boat on the high seas.

He would give his right arm for that dream to come true.

INTRO AND STORY
Praise be to Alilat, the Merciful, the Compassionate, Goddess of the Sabaeans and all of their kin. Our greatest trials, O Great Mother, obliterate from us, that we may praise your name forevermore in prosperity. Merciful are you, O Lady, to grant us your word to spread to the farthest corners of the world. -- Calibah, great prophet of Aslama Lat.

The Internal War of the Ages had lasted many years. Though our country, Saba, lay in ruin, the Goddess has provided. Calibah, a Ku****ic-Sabaean proselyte who had gained prominence in the order of the mukkaribs, was once a devout prophet of the pretender, the demon-god Alilah. He was given divine revelation one day, from Goddess herself. He was told to by Her to," spread my truths unto the farthest corner of the world." These truths were numbered as such: 1. All of your people shall worship Alilat, the Goddess who is one but three. These aspects are named as Q're, the maiden of the triad. Al'Uzza, the mother, and as Al'Manat, the crone and the force which has dominion over fate, prophecy, and divination.
2. Eternal sin is yours, it cannot be remitted without Goddess.
3. Those under the great nation of Saba are to be saved and redeemed by our Goddess; forgiven by Q're, cleansed by Al'Uzza, judged by Al'manat.
4. Our duty is to spread those under our dominion, to save those who doomed by not following Goddess.
In these respects, Calibah spread Aslama Lat extensively in the mukkaribite rebellious region, many being converted to the Faith. One day, when Calibah and his followers were preaching at the temple, the priests of the pretender challenged the prophet to a test of Goddess. They did not believe in Goddess just in the aspect that she was feminine. Calibah's followers and even himself had doubts of this, but Goddess set them on the right path when led astray. In the battle for the region, our Lady's sacred flames battled against the demonic hell-fires of Alilah. The Venerated One came through, and the people were converted by the thousands to Aslama Lat. The mukkaribs, the cowards that they were, were forced to exile out of their own region. From there, the word of the Goddess has spread to most of Kush and some of Ethiopia, but few believers are in the Holy Land (Sabaean mainland). This is disappointing, for the joy of the conversion of all the pagan lands is nothing compared to the joy Goddess has when an inch of Her holy ground has been turned back to her. With the grace of the Divine Mother, all this has been done in about 1 year. However the believers in the rebellious former lands of the mukkaribs, the legitimate government of Saba in Kush, and in rebel Ethiopia are not united under a single government. Fortunately, the armed forces in Africa have been virtually all converted to Aslama Lat. Calibah sends his epistle to all the believers in Africa as such:

NPC DIPLO AND DIPLO TO ARABIA

To All believers in Aslama Lat:

Brethren and Sistren in Goddess, I ask that all be united, that you tear down the walls of the nations to unite our faith. May Alilat be with all of you and may She help you to prosper.

Signed,
Calibah

To Non-rebelling Saba: We ask you to join our faith, and reject the old ways, that Saba might once again be united.

To Non-Aslama Lati rebelling Ethiopia and rebelling Saba: We ask you to unite with us to reform our nation, and also allow Aslama Lati missionaries to go into your region.

To Barbarians who occupy North Ethiopia: We ask you to either to convert to the Faith or begone from our lands.

To the Arabs: Relinquish our lands at once! That does not belong to you says Goddess.

OCC: I will wait for a response from every1 except Arabia, I.E. reply for them, Jason. Arabia, i'm not sure if it's npc or not.

Thousands of innocents die.
They're not innocent Jason, they're Teutons who stole our land in the war against our eastern neighbor. They refused amnesty. They answer sword by sword, arrow by arrow. They are guilty.

Helvetia is friendly to all immigrants and every denomination, but the Teutons stole our land in a war centuries ago and a certain other group shouldn't really be here.

I promise right here and right now as King of Helvetia that every minority in Helvetia (except for Teutons and Sionists) will be treated as if it was their very own homeland.

On the Teutonic Front...

"Mighty General Hans Frederich!"
"Yah Marshal Kirittien?"
"Tomorrow morning my Helvetian soliders will march forward and slaughter the profanities to the northwest. We shall do so with great determination, care and bloodlust. Any resistance from the army or poachers who refuse to give in will be slaughtered! Our army as you know is large, our tactics refined - should the Godess of Luck and Rajaba bless us we will surely be victorious."
"Yah, what you want with this? I know about all of such things. I haff killed many Russians to the East before we mixed kindred with Silesia and such things stopped."
"As you know Mighty General Frederich, the King has signed the alliance with Germany. This is an alliance you have wanted for a long time since the war started with Muscowy."
"Yah."
"The King wants to see if you will be good allies he can trust. It is one thing to sign a NAP a-"
"What iz a nap yah? The King do not sleep much."
"It is one thing to sign peace and another to be friends, blood, comrades. YOU KNOW?!?!"
"Yah, this is clear as blood."
"So...ooo?!?"
"Do not worry. Friedrich will charge their lines like insane man, swordsmen wedge their flanks, cavalry thump their breaking lines, they die, we slaughter them you can have useless slaves, we share loot and you get west."
"So we fight together, fiercely?"
"Yah, the Kings make us share blood you know? Important thing in Germany."
"Very well then, we have shared blood-"
"We are blood brother, you and me."
"All right Friedrich, as your blood... brother I trust you. I will order arrow fussilades, feint, flank and charge and at some point you go nutbonkers on them and I follow your lead."
"Yah, you use tak-tiks, I mass men for bloody party. Your King be happy."
"Good... just so we're clear."

"We fight tomorrow Marshal Kirittien, blood brother. You be real man then."
"What - what you say?"
"Haha, joke, see you morning, I sleep one twelfth now."
..
"Right."

Rujarat is the true God! He is the supreme entity of the universe. He is God! God, I tell you! We must build the shrines and temples and schools so the young can read the holy texts! The King has ordered it! Ma'am, send your son to a school for acolytes and mayhaps he will become a grand high priest with training in Antigotica some day! Go now! We must be worthy of Rujarat and our Mountain Gods!"

[notice how I spelled the name of the Antigotic religion right Jason! I should get a boost to religion ;) lol ... I'm done, I'm not going to change the mistakes in my order on the name of Dalmatia/Dacien and Rajaba/Rujarat so I'm fiiinished. When's the update coming?]

Life to Helvetia! Happines to her friends! May prosperity flourish in all that is Helvetia and may she be blessed by the Gods! Death to her enemies!

(there's something about the name Helvetia and the Alps that makes me want it to be successful... it's kind of like Norway, just warmer ... and prettier... not to mention much more central)

The peasants did not steal your land.

In how many hours?

Yes, Helvetia will gladly receive any refugees from Northern Dalmatia. *see following post

Jason, I believe that back in the ages the peaseants were considered subjects of their lords and communal responsibilities were very strong. So if the Lords of the Teutonic Order and the Teutonic Society commits a wrongdoing against Helvetia then their peasantry are guilty as well.

PS. Does writing still affect confidence? :) bwahahaha

Am I going to have to update with three orders?

Oh wait, maybe the 20 versions toteone sent me will make up for all of you who did not send in. :p

WAIT, WAIT, I will send them now.

OOC: An uber-rushed story. Will now work on orders...

IC:

Barusara, Gautama, Zavimitra. The three sons of Harimitra.

Only one will succeed to the throne of the dead king. And, as far as most people knew, only one of them survived.

Gautama was gone. He was definitely gone, killed. His body wasn't found. But such things happen.

This left Barusara and Zavimitra, and Barusara was wounded. He nearly recovered after four days, but then death attacked with more strenght then before, and the courageous warrior died. He was mourned, for he was adored by the populace. And already then, rumors spread that Zavimitra poisoned him. Few people who dared suggest this outloud survived, oddly enough. What a stunning coincidence!

One person did say the part about the coincidence. He survived, in spite of the fact that he said it in Zavimitra's face, being his teacher. Zavimitra calmly replied that this was no coincidence - this was divine providence. The gods were on his side.

That man was called Shivaja; on the other day, his body was found in a river.

Regardless, Zavimitra inherited the rule over Magadha. But... an enlightened rule is good for the stability. An oppressive, ruthless rule is also good the stability. An incompetent oppressive rule... isn't good for the stability. One has either to not oppress at all, either to oppress bloodily, relentlessly, killing all those who dare speak out against any element of the government.

Zavimitra could kill to get power. But he knew not how to kill to keep it. He thought himself secure, and loosened his reign. Soon enough, crime rates begun to grew catastrophically. Rumors begun to spread of rebellions and defections. Finally, peasant armies begun to appear, and many of the troops sided with them, defecting. But Zavimitra, although taken aback, managed to rally his forces. As he prepared to face the rebels head on, he hardly had the time to notice the appearence of a new sect, a spreading religion...

---

From village to village, from town to town, from city to city, Gautama wandered, spreading his word and finding converts... and allies. Zavimitra's tyrannical rule was not just evil, it was far worse because it was... an impendiment. An impendiment to his great plan.

Generals, governors, priests... all accepted Gautama, because they all really, really needed him. They needed a figurehead. But he persuaded them not to reveal his existance to the world too early. They took it as fear for his life; and as they only really needed him AFTER the coup, they couldn't care less.

And came the battle. Zavimitra's forces fought like demons, somewhat invigorated by the presence of their king... or by something else. Most of the anti-government forces were broken, fleeing for their lives. It was then that Gautama realized who led the armies.

Gautama was starved from fasting, was weakened. But his spirits were stronger then ever, as he walked out to face the advancing forces of Zavimitra. Zavimitra himself sighted him and charged towards his brother. Gautama looked him in the eyes... and noticed the Evil One.

"You are emaciated, pale, you are near death. Live, Sir, life is better. Do meritorious deeds. What is the use of striving?" - declared the Evil One, Mara. And Zavimitra added - "My loyal ten armies will crush all of your ilk!"

"Lust is your first army; the second is dislike for higher life; the third is hunger and thirst; the fourth is craving; the fifth is torpor and sloth; the sixth is fear (cowardice); the seventh is doubt; the eighth is hypocrisy and obduracy; the ninth is gains, praise, honour, false glory; the tenth is exalting self and despising others. Mara, these are your armies. No feeble man can conquer them, yet only by conquering them one wins bliss. I challenge you! Shame on my life if defeated! Better for me to die in battle than to live defeated." - shouted Gautama, rallying some of the fleeing forces around him. Mara attacked him, psychically, spiritually... and was crushed against the rock that was Gautama's spirit. He was broken. Fleeing.

Just like Zavimitra's forces. Zavimitra himself looked as if he was a statue, immobile, indifferent. He was dead.

---

"And on that day, the First Buddha, Gautama I, rose to the throne of Magadha.

And he called his generals, and his admirals, and his priests, and his governors, and his advisors, and his treasurer, and his scribes, to meet with him in the palace.

And he shared with them his vision of an enlightened world, a world without war. And he explained to them how it could be achieved. And none objected, for so obvious was the rightfullness of His words!

And on the next day, the First Buddha, Gautama I, declared the state religion of Magadha to be "Buddhism", worship of enlightenment, compatible with worship of the gods.

And on the day after that, the First Buddha, Gautama I, once more called to himself his council. And together, they planned the first stage of the campaign to enlighten the world..."

Sent orders. Did I ever mention that writing orders for world conquest isn't easy?
