Update 5 - 2000 BCE
The Rise of Nations continues...
North America - Ontario
Europe - Austria, Belgium, Crimea, Dalmatia, Norway, and Silesia
Asia - Astrakhan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mumbai, Nepal, and Siam
Africa - Ghana and Zaire
But the Rise of Nations, despite this plentiful spring of 16, has not yet ended. Who else shall rise before the world is ready to move on...?
In the former Mongol Confederacy, Ulan Ude has been seized by Tataria, most powerful of the East Tatars, aggravating further the collapsing coalition between the westerners and the easterners. But the East has a head start in organization, as Tataria has been around for 100 years now... the West remains itself a shaky coalition of warlords. Will the Eastern khans overrun the Westerners?
The war between the Babylonians and Armenians has not resumed. The Georgians have not launched an assault into Babylonian Armenia to liberate Yerevan, still hoping that the Babylonian kings will agree to the peace.
East of Georgia, in Baku, another group of Armenians - the Azeris - has formed their own nation. Their land lies in the area that the Georgians have proposed that the Babylonians annex for themselves... Will this hamper the Georgian Emperor's overtures for peace?
Fudge Pakistan has been overrun by the Afghanis. Never really having any loyalty to the Fudge Package, the Pakistanis for the most part are accepting their new masters and some have even participated in the burning of Fudge Pakia. Their ardent devotion to the Yuhahmuhsexuhl faith - which has been shortened to simply "Yuhah" because of pronounciation woes - however remains. Gradually, more Afghanis themselves - along the river valley - are converting to the Yuhah, which is attractive to many because it promotes individuality and even, according to some of its more extreme followers, rule by consensus rather than fiat.
AFGHANISTAN: -150 troops, Annexation of Fudge Pakistan, Destruction of Fudge Pakia
The Muscovites have not pressed further into Karjalian territory, despite the lack of an answer from the Sinimustvalge Karjal leaders. Instead, they have decided to fortify what they had managed to occupy and have settled pwopl from Muscovy-proper in the Karjalgrad area. Only minor skirmishes have occurred between hotheaded Karjalians and the Muscovites, but none to really damage either army significantly.
SINIMUSTVALGE KARJAL: -20 troops
MUSCOVY: -20 troops
The response of the Muscovite population has been of great excitement. Moscow's commoners as well as boyars have visited the Tsar to bow to him and bring him gifts - from gold coins to animals - as offering.
In Sinimustvalge Karjal, however, the atmosphere is of despair, and anger. The nobles in the Great Ruling Council squabble with each other. At least one noble family has been found in their estates murdered, either by assassins hired by the other councillors or by random acts of violence committed by the furious peasants. If this goes on, the Great Ruling Council will no longer be Ruling, or Great, and instead anarchy will reign in the land of Sinimustvalge Karjal.
MUSCOVY: Confidence +1
SINIMUSTVALGE KARJAL: Confidence -1
Dacians have, instead of attacking the Slovaks who are a vanguard of West Slavic civilization, have signed treaties with them. Given their desperate lunge westward to separate the Slavs from each other just a century ago, this seems an unbelievable move. Is it true comradeship, or are the Dacians plotting a capture of Bratislava?
Just north of Slovakia, at the Oder River, Germans and West Slavs have met and mingled, founding the city of Breslau as the capital of Silesia, the hybrid of two different ethnic, linguistic, and religious components. If Slovakia
is indeed, for the Dacians, another new territory to add to their empire, then it will be Silesia that will be the protector of West Slavs while, at the same time, manage to influence nearby Germans as well. With such a great geopolitical positioning, how can Silesia lose out?
Back Down Under, the Sydney-Brisbane war continues. Though Sydney was founded first and had a head-start on army organization, that fact does not reflect in the battles of this war. The Brisbane League is gaining momentum and has crossed the border, inflicting heavy losses on Sydney.
On the seas it is not going well for Sydney, either. A mistake my mappers has led several Sydney Navy ships into dangerous coral reef waters and the ships sank. In battle, the remains of the Navy have been defeated by the Brisbane League fleets.
BRISBANE LEAGUE: -3 ships, -140 troops
SYDNEY: -20 ships, -300 troops
A skirmish at the west bank of the Nile between Nubian-Mameluke and Benghazi forces ends in Benghazi victory.
NUBIA: -50 troops
MAMELUKES: -130 troops
BENGHAZI: -80 troops
The Lisbon Palace, a new palace for the monarch of Portugalia, has begun being built. This feat of architecture has been commanded just as Tangiers was founded as capital of Morocco, the name of Portugalia's colony in Northern Africa.
And as the strangers from the other land settle in and expand their area, the Berber tribesmen still do not react.
Nihon stretches its settlement and exploration fleet far south, passing Taipei - which has just recently
not been given to the Nihonese by the Fuzhou leaders - and reaches the Philippines. The northernmost island has begun to be settled.
War has broken out between Cantivelliaunii and Eire. The Eire have been much better equipped and prepared, however - the Cantivelliauniians still arrogantly believing that the Irish will "come to their senses" and give up Scotland. The Cantivelliauniian troops were given the order to attack if a foreign army appeared: the Irish were that foreign army. This ill-advised attack has forced Irish retaliation and London's army has been all but slaughtered. With the bulk of Cantivelliauniian troops dead and dying, the Irish now have a clear path toward London. The peasants farming the land south of the huge battle were cursing the names of the tribal council's leaders for giving such a stupid order. They have not fought back the Irish advance as a resistance force, and don't seem to plan to.
EIRE: -100 troops, -10 ships
CANTIVEILLIAUNII: -20 ships, -400 troops
In Persia, a mystic named Zoroaster has attracted the following of many Persians, with his preaching that only Ahura Mazda is a worshipable, legitimate deity, rejecting the local polytheistic sects. His motto, salvation based on "good thought, good word, and good deed" is a wonderful concept among the Persian people. The religion of Zoroastrianism is now challenging the power of the High Priests ruling the country, who are adamantly rejecting this as heresy to the Gods and Goddesses, even as some of the lower-level priests and mystics are converting secretly and openly.
Within months of the beginning of his preaching, Zoroaster is slain. Instead of dying out, however, Zoroastrianism is only strengthened by the martyrdom, his house becoming a shrine.
With more than half the population converted, how long will the "archaic" theocracy of paganism last in Persia?
In the Byzantine Empire, birth rates soar after the Emperor openly condemns any and all forms of celibacy.
As the Byzantine Empire encounters the South Slavic tribes, the warlords refuse to acknowledge Byzantine dominance over their land and people. So what happens now? War.
Macedonian Archers - a new elite unit of archers straight out of Leopolis - dispatch some of the border tribes easily.
But now that they have a nation to look to, Dalmatia, will the rest of the South Slavs fall just as easily?

Symphony, you've still got an unfinished wonder. You can't push another one in.
And speaking of wonders/projects, when you're building a wonder, be sure to include in your orders to continue building it, so that I remember to change the number in that parentheses. Otherwise, it will be Modern Ages and you still will have the first wonder you ever started at (1/4)
Planning update for Thursday evening. I expect orders to be in by then. I will have no qualms about punishing those who do not send them (see Sinimustvalge Karjal's disorder and Fudge Pakistan's destruction for further reference).
