StKNES5: A New Lease on NES

Kamilian in the Rules said:
It will take an entire economy level (ie. Stable to Failing) to upgrade your entire Army, same for Navy, to the next Age when you reach it.
That's how you do it. :)

OOC: Can you imagine my suprise when after spending 3 very relaxing days camping I came home and noticed i had lost half my nation?! I wish their was an autosave

It is done. You already got the effect of it. When it says "(5/5)" (in your wonder's case, for example), that means it's done, meaning that you get whatever effect of it already.
In this upcoming update, the number will disappear, and the wonder will just be listed there so that it is known that it exists (may make the city one of those centers of culture or trade or what-not ;) )

As for losing your nation, it's not a punishment for anything you did. It's just one of those random events gone bad.
But there is still hope. After all, there are a few small loyalist pockets in the Beiraland remaining, which can make it easier. ;)

Well then, I guess I will only slaughter every 25th person if it its just a random event :D
lol I made some awesome typos, see if you can spot em kids!

PS: Im definetly writing a story as punishment

The Beginning of the Invasion

Masnia could barely contain his excitement! Not only had he been accepted as a Malagasy soldier but was promoted to theofficer of his division, the Iubararis, nobody knew what it meant, it had been assigned to them by a crazed mystic, who spoke dialects not known to any other Malagasy. Masnia also received the honour of meeting Giio the great leader of Madagascar, truly he lived a good life.

Masnia marched alongside his fellow soldiers into the looming trade boats, built of massive Baobab trees. Giio had informed Masnia of his objective, the colony had been taken over by rebels. Beira and surrounding territories were to be taken at all costs. Masnia let his iron demeanor fade away for a moment a grin grew across his face, he would prove himself to be the greatest warrior to live and become Giio’s right hand man, snapping back to reality Masnia clamoured onto the boat, and moments later realized why he had never like riding boats.

byzantine orders:

-expand to all directions that are either free to conquer or occupyed by barbarians. leave 100 men behind to ensure the safety of areas that are already conquered.

Ishikawa Toshi crosses his arms across his chest and lifted one sandal-clad foot upon the stone tide-breaker before him, narrowing his eyes in consideration of the vast ocean that lay before him. It was early morning, and the sun had not yet risen, its approach coloring the sky in a plethora of violet through yellow. He glanced up from where the sky met the sea at the kousekiun which blazed red-orange. The knowledge that his predecessors had first noted and named those clouds loomed large in the forefront of his thoughts. Soon, he would bring their work, their many decades of effort to fruition for the glory of the Emperor.

His thoughts were driven from his mind as he was forced to squint and at last avert his eyes from the horizon as the sun slowly ascended from the sea like a dragon from slumber. He would be the one to finally lead men into the lands over which the great bringing of life traveled before coming to the land of Nihon. If such lands existed at all, he supposed. But how could the Emperor be wrong in this? It was known that the world must be round, although its dimensions were beyond all but the Gods. One could see this very easily in the simple fact that the mast of an approaching ship was always seen before the body, and that one could not see forever upon the sea. The world was curved. Must it not follow then, that if one was to go far enough, they might arrive at the opposite end of the mainland?

This was what the ancestor of the Emperor had tasked his predecessors with so many years ago: to find the secret of navigating the seas so that they might do such a thing. He would not, nay could not fail them, for both their honor and his rested upon his forthcoming success. He would fufill the dream laid down so long ago and continued by every Emperor since. He would find the other side of the mainland. He turned his head at the sound of one of the shiphands calling, then shouted back a response before turning and walking back towards the assembled expedition in Osaka's harbor. Today was at last the departure date and it was necessary to see that all was ready for such an effort. The Emperor himself was said to be visiting the assembled fleet, and as Admiral, he had to make the best impression possible. He could not fail now.

From: Nihon

We are interested in a NAP with the nation of Malaysia, however, before initiating such an agreement, we believe a settlement on the issue of Izanagi Island is in order. We are willing to split authority over the island in a roughly equal fashion and believe this to be fair to both parties. Such a boundary would roughly follow this line:

DivLine.png

Is this acceptable to Malaysia? We are also curious whether the Malaysian people know of other peoples inhabiting the mainland or lands unknown to us and whether they are willing to divulge such information.

OOC: Orders sent.

Update 8 - 1700 BCE

An Australian goodwill expedition to the island of Papua has yielded a new civilization on the island. The local Polynesian tribes have been taught some administrative tips, and thus the new government is democratic, similar to that of the Australian Commonwealth. The Papua government has agreed that the place where the Australians landed would become exclusively an Australian territory. The Commonwealth has already made the settlement a trade port, which they call Morsbey.
Another expedition westward culminates in contact with the Perth Empire. Offer to join the Commonwealth is politely refused, but the Perthians wish to keep an open dialogue.

Despite the end of the war, the Babylonian Plague continues to ravage Babylononia and Israel. In Babylononia, 15% of the people died, while in Israel, this was the case with 10% of the population. The Plague continues spreading into the Kingdom of the Mamelukes, wiping out 3% of the population. It has not yet reached the capital, and the Mameluke Army has taken some preventative measures, stopping migration to and from the Suez Province. Both Nubia and Benghazi have stationed troops on their borders to prevent Mameluke immigration.
Babylononia: -930 people
Israel: -700 people
Kingdom of the Mamelukes: -300 people

The Malagasy Empire, as expected, has reacted immediately, and violently, to the Beira rebels’ refusal to return peacefully. Much of the Malagasy Army has crossed the watery divide and taken the rebel capital by storm. Resistance was very stiff but bribery of some tribes and tribal lords enabled a capture of the city. The Beira High Council escaped, but with loyalist success on much of the coast as well, the Union of Beiraland may soon forcefully rejoin Malagasy.
MALAGASY: -1,400 troops
BEIRALAND: -1,700 troops

Harvests continue to bring more food to the table in Portugalia, helping with revenue as well as expansion throughout the peninsula.

Zoroastrianism gains adherents in Azerbaijan, as well as eastern Babylononia.

Some of the South Slavic tribes under Byzantine control have begun to get restless. Though they admire the Byzantine culture, they want to have more administrative and cultural independence. A raid on a trade convoy bound for Rome via Dubrovnik ended with the death of the Byzantine merchants and looting of the money and commodities the Byzantine convoy was carrying.
BYZANTIUM-ROME TRADE ROUTE: No economy bonus for either Byzantium, Rome, or Dalmatia.

Tatar War continues as a war of attrition, the border essentially remaining the same. Some villages have been massacred by either side.
TATARIA: -300 troops, -200 people
IRKUTSK: -200 troops, -400 people

Knowledge and awareness of the Iron Age technology spreads to Fuzhou, Nihon, and Vietnam.

Crappy update. I wasn’t really into it this time. Sorry.

Babylononia is NPC.

Toteone, I didn’t do your orders this time cuz you kinda joined in too late for the update, so I didn’t want to get confused. You can do the same stuff this turn.

Stats are not done yet. By the end of today, they will be. I will post when the next update will be when I finish stats.

Again, sorry for the crappy update. We all have our bad days, no?
