StKNES5: A New Lease on NES

Update 11 - 1400 BCE

Byzantine merchants got lost on the way back to Byzantium with the revenue from the Rome-Byzantium trade route. The merchants were last seen somewhere between Leopolis and Byzantium. Their whereabouts, and those of the money gained from the trade, are unknown.
Instances of banditry increase throughout the Byzantine provinces. Members of the Slav, Greek, and Macedonian parliaments, in particular, are demanding that the Emperor approve funding for building new roads or “all the taxes we pay generously will be forever lost in the forests and mountains”.
BYZANTIUM: No benefit from the Rome-Byzantium trade route; -1 Economy Level

Dacia has lost Serbia! The Serbian soldiers have beaten back the Dacians, fortified the province, and effectively broken away from the Dacian Empire. The soldiers are now looking westward to Dalmatia as the new leaders of their province. Travel has indeed increased exponentially between Dalmatia and the Serbian Province, and Dalmatian troops no longer watch the border with Serbia as if an attack could happen at any moment. The ball is in the Dalmatian court now – either annex Serbia or turn its back on the Serbs.
The Slovak Army has crossed into East Slovakia on a mission of liberation. Battles between the Slovaks and East Slovak rebels and the Dacians have almost always been in favor of the Slavs. Looks like East Slovakia will also be lost by Dacia.
The separatist factions in Galicia have taken over the rebellion. In the small town of Lwow, a council of Galician rebel leaders, with guests from East Slovakia and Serbia, convened and resolved to fight for independence, not autonomy. The Galician populace supports them fully, and massacres have occurred of the Dacian troops as revenge for the repression when the Army first entered the province.
In Sarmizetegusa, the Dacian capital, riots are occurring demanding that something be done to stop the food shortages and economic collapse that are stemming from the disorder. Many of the farms in the Dacian countryside, having been worked on primarily by Slavic slaves, are destroying or hoarding the harvests.
DACIA: -200 Loyalist troops; -150 Rebel troops; -2 Economy Levels; -1 Confidence level

The Baalist Plague finally ends its death toll on all 3 countries which it had consumed. In the Mameluke Kingdom, the end was brought on by successful quarantines of the sick, as well as the fact that some people miraculously got sick but survived and were no longer affected by it again. Though there were still deaths, the plague is over.
MAMELUKE KINGDOM: -500 people

The Arabs continue their occupations over the Babylonian and Israelite lands. In Babylonia, they invade further with disregard for any law and order. They will soon be upon the capital.
In Israel, some tribes are seduced by Israelite concubines and promises of riches if they stop their marauding. The tribes that are convinced by these promises end their rampages and settle down, primarily east of the Israelite capital, Jerusalem. They have sworn to end their violent ways if the Israelites let them stay.
Other Arabs are not so easily swayed. An attack on Jerusalem from the south was repelled by the Israelite army, but with a sizeable death toll on the Israelites.
However, the aggressive Arabs that occupy southern Israel are pretty spread-out in the occupied area. Most have left Israel and launched their invasion of the Mameluke Kingdom, which though no longer suffers the Baalist Plague, has been terribly weakened. The Arabs have a field day invading the Mameluke lands, and the capital, Cairo, was easily occupied, the King killed. At the moment, the Mameluke Kingdom is without any central authority and under Arab occupation. Could it be that the Arabs will be its next rulers?
BABYLONONIA: -700 troops
ISRAEL: -300 troops
MAMELUKE KINGDOM: -720 troops

The Perthian Emperor approves of the establishment of a Senate of the Perthian upper class. Celebrations are held in the capital city in honor of the Emperor.
PERTH: Confidence +1; Government change into Imperial Democracy

Bandits managed to break into the Australian Commonwealth’s tax collector buildings in Brisbane and Sydney, making off with quite a bit of the money that came from the annual tax revenues.
AUSTRALIA: -1 Economy Level

Portuguese battles with the Fez Sultanate have been unsuccessful due to the Fez soldiers’ more extensive knowledge of the areas and the anti-Portugalian sabotage initiated by Berber tribes. The Fez Sultanate thus is able to expand more. Some Berber soldiers have also defected to the Fez army.
PORTUGALIA: -450 troops; -250 (to Fez)
FEZ: +250 troops (from Portugalia)

The Illini have managed to liberate their land from the Sioux.
ILLINOIS: -600 troops

Bulgars continue migrating across Muscovy and Kiev. Their direction seems to be southwestward. It is still unclear if any of the Bulgars plan on staying permanently, but the flow continues from their eastern homeland.
MUSCOVY: +1,000 population
KIEV: +2,200 population

Magyar invasion of Crimea continues. All of Crimea’s land but the peninsula is under occupation. The Crimean army is more organized and better equipped, yes, but the Magyars are far more numerous.
CRIMEA: -1,500 troops

Afghanistan and Pakistan separate. The border between the two is somewhat-tentative, as there are pockets of Afghanists on the Pakistani side as well as Yuhahist pockets on the Afghani side.

Negotiations begin between Fuzhou and Shanghai to unite their countries. The reason for this is unknown but there is speculation that the two have grown weary of the Nihonese Empire.

Malaysia begins expanding its own empire, establishing the trade port of Chittagong. Roads are also begun to be built through the Malaysian jungles.

NPC Diplomacy

OOC
Orders have not been received from Jason, Sheep, and Finmaster.
Finmaster, you did get acknowledged from your story, but a story and diplo with no orders doesn’t do much update-wise.
Sheep, your orders were way too late and thus not accepted.

Toteone, I honestly don’t think you put “continue wonder”, and that’s why it wasn’t increased last time. I am making it mandatory, not “just to be safe” anymore, that you have to say to continue the wonder. If it was my mistake, I do apologize.
But in any case, you were telling me about it the day before deadline/update. By then I had already deleted the PM that had your orders! Do not wait until the last day to notify me of an error or something. Please. I delete PM orders a day after the update. So if you PM orders, your time to complain or make note of errors is then, not the day before update. Unless you still have your PM from the previous turn, there is no proof that the project should have been made 2/3 last update.

This goes to everyone: Tell me about any errors or complaints within a day after the update. Then I will be glad to – and when it comes to PMs, I will actually be able to - look into it and I will fix the errors of there are any. Do not wait until a day before the next deadline. By then, I will only change it if you have solid proof (you still have the PM or the orders were done on the thread in the first place) and even then with a very heavy heart. It is among the most irritating things, honestly, to be approached by someone just before (figuratively) the update saying “you didn’t do this”. Please make any error-notifications and complaints within a day of the update. It saves me a lot of nerves, doesn’t make you look like a whiner to me, and makes it harder for me to hurt your country but easier to give your country good random events.

Update will be on Wednesday. Orders are due Wednesday morning by 10:00 AM Central Time Zone – US. After that time, I will no longer accept orders and/or order-changes, since I will be doing the update offline throughout the day.

Kamilian- My UU (Macabees) are supposed to, besides being good guerilla fighters, increase loyalty of all my subjects to Judaism upon wining a battle. Also, my government should be Theocratic Parliamentary Monarchy, as Israel now has a monarch. EDIT: Did my population grow in the stats or not because of the Arabs settling down?
******
The news that some of the Arab tribes had joined Israel was music to the king's ears. Of course they could settle east of Jerusalem! They could settle any where they wanted as far as the king was concerned, as long as they joined Israel. But now that they were his subjects, he needed one more thing from the Arabic Israelites, he needed help in his war. These tribes new better than anyone else how the other Arabs fought, what they believed, how to survive in the desert of Southern Israel, and what the lay of the land is. He would need these Arabic Israelites to train the Macabees in desert warfare and how to fight the Arab tribes. He decided to send his sodiers and those of the new Arabic Israelites into Southern Israel to drive the invaders off. But the wise king had more up his sleeve thatn that. He would approach the Knesset with a plan. His idea was to build a great port to the Red Sea. This would allow him to trade with unknown peoples he was sure held great riches. Once the lands of Judea (southern Israel) were once again in his hands, the great city of Aqaba would become the envy of the world.
********
Have Arabic Israelites train Macabees, this will slowly increase their ability to fight in the desert and against Arabs. Send these troops, as well as other troops to retake Southern Israel. If successful, establish the port of Aqaba on the Red Sea. Invest 2 in Macabees (440/10=44 44X2=88) invest 2 in building trade route to Byzantium connecting Tel-Aviv and Constantinople if these ports are agreeable to the Byzantines, have 3/4 of navy guard trade route. Found city of Jabesh-Gilead in Arabic Israelite territory (it is on the Jordan somewhat north of the Dead Sea). Build roads connecting all of my cities. Continue work on the Temple of King Solomon in Jerusalem.
********
To Byzantium
From Israel

His lord and majesty, the wise King Solomon, in accordance with the Knesset, is pleased to hear that problems in the Byzantine Parliament have been settled. We are happy to establish a trade route between our two nations. We believe that the trade route should connect my City of Tel-Aviv and yours of Constantinople. Our navy will be guarding the trade route to try and prevent such things as has happened to your trade route with Romanium from happening to ours. We hope that you might spare some of your navy to help guard the route as ours is not nearly as powerful as yours, and we are scared possibly not as strong as the vandals and pirates. We give you good tidings and hope that your relations with your Slavic provinces go well. L'Chaim! L'Shalom! L'Yisroel! L' Byzantium!

Israelite9191:
1. I undestand it as basicaly the same thing, I will remember, don't worry about the Macabees' increasing loyalism to Judaism.
2. I will edit the government stat now.
3. Yes, the Arabs that joined did increase your population as well.

I'll use those orders this time.
But as I keep saying, I am not asking anyone to devote their life completely to this NES. But, again, it does not take long to check what's goin on with your country in the update and the stats. In fact you don't even need to scroll through the update - just use the search function to get your country name highlighted and that way you can go directly to your country event. After that, it only takes maybe 15 minutes tops to write up orders. You don't need to dedicate your life 24/7 to do 15 minute orders.

A deadline is a deadline. No exceptions unless you tell me "I won't be able to do orders because I will be away" or "I will be very busy this week" or something like that. Then there will be no punishments because you will have notified me. But don't expect to say "I have a busy life" and be exempt from repercussions if the deadline is not met. I realize some people have busier lives than others, and I myself will have less free time in a few weeks because summer is over, but if you can't spend the little time required, then are you able to stay in this NES in the first place?
There were no strict deadlines before, and too many people procrastinated. So now I'm having strict deadlines, because it's ridiculous to give people 4 or 5 days to do orders and have to delay the damn update by another day or two because more than half didn't send their orders.

I will be busy for the next few months, I thought I made that clear.

OK.
And it doesn't take long to do orders when given a time span of 3-4 days. I thought I made that clear.

It does when you are not online for six days and you send the orders in the minute you see there was an update ;)

Lets see, 3 days is equal to 4,320 minutes. You need mabey 15 miutes to do an update, that leaves you with 4,305 miutes for the rest of your life. Unless your computer crashed, you rinternet is down, or you forced to go to a third world country without internet, I think you can find time to post orders.

From Byzantium
To Israel:
We are glad. Altough we aren't quite sure what is this "Constantinopole" you talk of is.. perhaps you mean our great capital city of Byzantium? ;) But when the city name is corrected, the trade route is acceptable to us.

To the Iroquios and the Ottawans from the honorable Illinis

We desire peace. Do you accept?

From Iroquois and ONTARIO
To Illinois:
Return Michigan and there will be peace. 1 economy level is also expected to compensate for the loss of life and property the Illini High Saints caused when they invaded and slaughtered innocents.

From Ontario
To Illinois:
We certainly would settle for just the return of our land, but your ruthless massacres of innocent people and burning of villages warrants compensation for us. Never mind that the families of the people that survived the massacres will never be able to forget the horror they endured when your High "Saints" crossed the border. The only spiritual consolation is that those that perished under your reign of terror will forever rest in peace with the gods and earth and that those that perpetrated the crimes will be judged by the gods of nature.

To Byzantium
From Israel

It is known that even the wise King Solomon can make mistakes. In the understanding of the Israelite people it has been known that your great empire is known as Byzantium and the glorious capital as Constantinople. After your benevolent majesty infromed us of this grave misunderstanding, it was decided in a session of the Knesset to ammend the mistake in all of the records. L'Chaim! L'Shalom! L'Yisroel! L'Byzantium!
