stMjMNES2: Sands of Time

Bah. I have to check up on the forum more often. I get out of synch when I only browse through the subscribed ones...

I AM crippled, for the next several months. Here's the story of what happened...

Skaters to the start!

I edged up to the starting line. So did the other skaters.

Ready!

I tensed.

Go!

I burst off the start. Ryan and Ian have a jump on me, and I slip into 3rd place, ahead of Gavin and an Nathan.

We blast into the first corner. Ryan and Ian begin to pull away. I push harder onwards, unwilling to fall behind. The second corner approaches, and I glide through it, not giving an inch of space to those behind me.

One lap is complete. Only 12 and a half to go.

Nathan, the Alaskan, tries to pass on the inside. I don't give him an inch.

As we enter the corner, he doesn't back off. What the heck is he thinking?

We race through the corner, side by side.

Suddenly, everything goes wrong.

Nathan couldn't hold the tight corner. He falls to the ice, and crashes into me. I trip over him and slide towards the boards at dizzying speed.

Nathan hits first. His legs sprawl into the air. His skates held out straight at me.

Oh shi-

When we collided, his skate cut through my knee pad, through my skin, and snapped of the bottom of my femur. It created a gash 8 inches long and nearly an inch deep through my knee, although I couldn't see it at the time.

After that, I deflected off him and bashed into the boards.

The medical staff carried me off, and I was brought to the hospital. The doctors had to remove skate and fabric fragments from the cut, put a pin to reattatch the broken part of my femur, and sealed up the cut with 126 stitches.

I won't be walking for over 6 weeks. That's pretty much everything. Let me tell you, the flight home was hell. I couldn't bend my knee at all, and had to get into a plane! By stair! Then sit in it for 70 minutes.

Oh well. At least I didn't break my neck, or something like that.

Domestic Events

The Fennian Religious center in Perkele begins to take effect. Besides strengthing the Culture (+1 Culture) a fair amount of people who live on the Fabled Empire's side of the border convert to the Church of Fennia. Theese converts are not aggresive to the Fabled Kingdoms at all, and only hope their lands can become part of Fennia, or they be allowed to leave to go worship their new religion in peace.

Also, on religion, a new religious center has been formed in Shobo (+Shobo religious center), a former Suri'Ati city. With the conclusion of the war (see millitary events) a large pocket of soilders, and more importantly the nomads who followed the Shaitia and found themselves without a home, went to this city to live. Their common religion helped them reshape the broken city. It hadnt been much before the war, but immeditaly after it was largely destroyed. There was also a significant amount of former Suri'Ati soilders who made life diffucult and roamed as bandits. Soon though, the city was rebuilt in great splendor. It has developed not a certain distinction by nation, but by religion. Their isnt even a road to it, but it is one of the largest cities known to the world right now.

New Kurth was counqered rather easily (see millitary events). The large area left open to the Thuleans allowed them to exploit resources not avaible in their Northern Homelands. This has caused the city that used to be the New Kurth capitol to become a center of trade. (+New Kurth trade center)

The Indicans finally wake up it seems, and begin to do things. Firstly, their invasion of Erita (see millitary events) In the old Eritean lands, their was a relatively large city. The massive amount of poor and hungry that used to be in Erita needed to have a place to buy goods from. Lake Shmo becomes a center of trade to feed the masses. (+Lake Shmo Trade Center)

Centralization problems in Kalar are worsening quickly. With the close of the Armadi-Kalari war, there are vast land areas now under Kalari control in the south. The problem is there is no cities there to keep order, and the land is relatively lawless.

Millitary Events

Thule and Fennia invade New Kurth. They put up a strong resitance at first, keeping the Vifenn force and Thulean crack troops hugged to the coast. A large force from the Thulean colony in the West comes shortly after though. The Kurthites are broken, and their capitol falls. Almost most of the country surrendered, though a sizable army still fought in the East, hoping for Kalari help. Fruitless in his endaveours, he was crushed in a few key battles. The Kurth people as a nation were no more, and were not likely to ever be one again.

In the East, the Suri'Ati and Shaita have been fighting. The war wasn't looking good for the Suri'Ati. They wern't outnumbered, but outflanked. They attempted to take their city back, but feirce Shaita resitance prevented this. When the Suri'Ati had to go on the defensive, the Shaitia wasted no time. The Shatia attacked in a few key possesions. Now, the large part to their success wasn't tactics, but it was their numbers. They had raised their army to a huge size. They needed it. For even for their advanced plans, the relentless defense held on. The Suri'Ati slowly loss the land. Their ground was shrinking. Sooner than they had hoped, they had to take up arms in the capitol. The Shaitia hordes decided not to seige the city, and take it then. It worked well, because some estimates say the Suri Ati were outnumbered 10 to 1. Their galliant defence was no more.

(-Suri'Ati as a nation -4 Shaitia Divisions -3 Screamer Divisions -1 Shaitia Confidence (for eco level sacrifice))

The Shaitia recieved alot of help from the Jeh barbarians. Not nearly as aggresive as the other newcomers, they helped the Shaitia in their war against the Suri'Ati significantly in return for a huge tract of land. The Jeh convert to the Shaitia religion as well.

(+Jeh)

The Kalari wasted no time. They sent their new men out, and in an intricate blitz-like attack, their numbers flanked, outmaneuvered, and annhilated entire Armodi Battalions. The Armodi took to the hills. This is the time when the Kalari took calauties. Their homeland had next to nothing in the way of hills or peaks. The Armodi, though few in number, still had an edge in training, though the Kalari troops had become veterans through war. The gureilla war didnt last long, because the capitol was taken. There are still small resitiance groups in the hill. Nothing major.

Erita was cracking under pressure. The Nyritians didnt advanced, but destroyed counter attack after counter attack. The Eritans decided to try and build fortifications and wait for them to attack. They amassed their troops there. Bad idea. The Indicans attacked, and with incredible success. Though no horses or such animals, the soilders swept across the countryside. It was literally empty. The Eritans scrambled to bring troops from the other front, but they thought the seemingly larger Nyrus army could attack. The Indicans soon took the capitol. The Eritans surrendered, the populous happy after so many years of war. The Indicans took over almost the entirity of Erita since no attacks were launched by the Nyritans.

And maybe the most important happening of all. Hordes of barbarians seem to infest the cradle. They ride horses, and are completely unkown as their origin. All hostile. All with names too. ^_^

The Honutu and Nandi are in the South. They are the 2 largest barbarian groups, and by far the strongest. They didn't waste any time. Theese groups (though not acting together it seems) both invaded the massive Heeti. It was horse versus horse. The Heeti hadn't fought troops so trained and with horses, so casaulties were high. The barbarians made large gains. But not all is bad for the Heeti. Iron, has been perfected.....

(-4 Heeti Divisions)

The Athling are the most passive. Not sharing a border with any nations, little is known.

The Shirazi are very strong and aggresive. The Fabled Empire attacked them first. Though lacking horses and iron, the Imperial Fabled Empire troops could match themselves with the barbarians. The Fabled Empire faced large casualties, but has greatly damaged the Shirazi.

(-5 Fabled Empire Divisions)

Theese barbarians can only get stronger. If they arent stopped, the nations of the cradle are in great jeporday.
