stMjMNES3:Another Go

Welcome. :D

I'm going to reccomend something closer, as the Canary Islands in this age is a tad too far for your ships to navigate, so you will be stuck on them for a while.. And even then you will be at a disadvantage.

Edit: I just reedited it on pg. 12

Where are you now then?

MjM said no to that, and Fooz has now edited it so it doesnt give a location at all...

IT 1 Update 3

580 - 570 BC

Domestic Events

The Valencians finally begin to invest into some much needed infrastructre. Their trade routes grow more numerous everyday, and improved roads and port conditons help trade increase even more. The religion of Ibanismo is also not practiced by a majority of Valencians. Very few people practice the oold teachings anymore.

(+Economic Growrth)

The Sicilians further invest into thier own market economy, but with the recent counqest of Sardinia-Corsica by Valencia [see millitary events], the economic growth is not as large as planned. Poor infrastructre and not as intelligent populace makes other ports more enticing. Still, the Sicilian's economy is jumpstarted once more, and will grow, although for how long is the question.

(+Economic Growth, +Infrastructre due to increased traffic)

The Calabrians begin to develop the newly acquired island of Malta. It's position is incredibly advantegous, for it serves as a stop to refuel ships, and can offer Calabrian trade goods to other nations at a closer location. This and the redevlopment of counqered Pescaran lands [see millitary events] the Calabrian Economy grows.

The Spartans begin to enforce Agoge training outside of the Pelopenessus. This is met with stiff resistance at first, as the towns it is starting ot be enforced at are close to Athens. It is very unlikely the Athenians would keep the Union strong if the Agoge training is enforced anymore, as it is seen as a barbaric tradition, and not needed by many Greeks. The Athenians begin to imrpove the roads and ports, which further strengthens thier trade relations. Even thogh the Valencians, and the Sicilians to an extent, are becoming much stronger in trading, the Athenians still remain supreme.

(-1 Confidence)

In the East, the Georgians have recently banded together to form a tribal confederation, trying to vye for power in the often overlooked East.

Millitary Events

The Mesoamerican War becomes very confusing. The Singodians keep fighting on in Copan. The Kintryians and the Singodians make good ground, the Singodians having launched raids from the coast with some scrounged up ships. The Copanecs were loosing ground fast, especially when rebellion tribes joined forces with the invaders. But this all changed rather quickly.

On the other side of Mesoamerica, Tikal begins to counqer rapidly towards Kintyre. Nothing is noted of it until the Tikalians begin to attack into Kintyre itself. The army was too far away to do anything, the Tikalians rampaged through Kintyre. Finally, the Kintryian army shows up, and begins a series of skirmishes to push the Tikalians back, but the damage is done. Most of Kintyre is in Tikal hands. A few captured warchiefs of Tikal also reveal that the Singodians have masterminded the whole thing. The Kintryians immediatly sign an alliance with the remainder of Copan, and they begin to fight thier newfound enemies.

The Valencians begin to launch a counterattack in Gaul proper against the Sardinian invaders. The Sardinians are outnumbered, and the few survivors flee the colony back to Sardinia proper, for the inevitable invasion. And it came. The Valencians assembled thier large fleet and new found army and set off for Corsica. The smaller island with no large settlements proved more difficult than planned, as the Corsicans put up a fight in the hills and forests wherever they could. They aslo sabotaged some Valencian ships. But eventually the island was taken, with minimal casaulties. The Valencians then set out for Sardinia itself. This was a much harder fight, but the Valencians severely outnumbered the Sardinian army, and was destroyed at the battle of Sardinia. The rest of the island quickly capitulated when they learned the king had been captured. The Royal family has been taken back to Valencia to mate with Valencians, as to dilute the Sardinian bloodline.

The counqest of Sardinia-Corsica represents another market solely owned by the Valencians. They have a near monopoly on all Western Mediterranean trade.

(-13 Valencian Hundreds, -4 Valencian Ships, -Sardinia-Corsica)

The Roman seige of Pescara was a fierce one. The Romans set rains of fire arrows over the city and had an iron hold on it. The Pescarans tried many times to break the seige, from the outside and the inside, but both sides were protected. Many Romans did die, as the Pescarans fought fiercely, but eventually, they were crushed, and the city was stormed. The King is missing, and is rumored to have fled north, where the land is orderless, and bandits and millitary overlords have taken control of the countryside. It was a part of Pescara, so is entitled to Rome, but Tuscany has launched attacks into it..

In the South, most of the Pescaran regular army was trapped between the Roman seige and the Calabrian forward assault. Choosing to fight the less trained of the two, the Calabrians and Pescarans clashed at the battle of Trasimae, near the small village of Trasimae. The Calabrians outnumbered the Pescarans, but the Pescarans had seen much more war than the Calabrians. The battle was fierce, but the cumbersome hoplite formation of the Pescarans eventually gave way to the far more flexible Calabrian Samnite formations. The Calabrians have taken all land up to Pescara itself. It is unclear whether they will go North to help fight the Pescarans.

The Trojans take a defensive stance in thier war. But the Illinois do not attack, instead they wait for the attack by the Trojans. When it became apparent the Trojans wern't going to attack the Illinois expanded thier realm, furtherign Troy from victory..

The Eurian War takes a durastic turn... [see Spotlight]

Not too long ago, Aksum began to change thier policiy of peaceful integration, for a more offensive approach. It worked extremely well for them. The Aksumites had doubled thier territory in a mere 10 years. But this newfound aggression was not without consequence. Once freindly tribes turned to enemies, and rallied together. The tribes of Ethiopia gathered thier fiercest warriors. They had an ultimatium for Aksum ; release all captured tribesmen from bondage and return thier lands. After a heated exchange, the answer was this: war.

The Ethiopians had much more war experience than the Aksumites, and had assembled a large number of troops. Although outnumbered by the Aksumites, the Ethiopians would fight a grand war. First, the Aksumites invaded the Eastern fringe lands. Theese lands are paticularly useless, as the Ethiopians aren't seafarers. The Aksumites had hoped this naval landing would divert the defensive forces of Ethiopia, but the Ethiopians had suspected as much, and kept thier forces in one group. The Ethiopians invaded from thier new northern river valley. This force was small, so an equal number was sent to dispatch it. The Ethiopians slaughtered the invading Aksumites here, as this terrain is especially harsh, and theese Aksumites were fresh troops, and the Ethiopians were seasoned.

A large Aksumite force begin a push for Axum. They may've made it, but they made the mistake of attacking Addis-Ababa first, occupying it for a short time. The Ethiopians then closed the town off. After a few days, the supplu deprived Aksumites tried a breakout against the larger Ethiopian force. Theese Aksumites also didn't fare well, they were killed. In the East, the naval landing was the only good news so far for Aksum, it had captured many lands.

The Ethiopians, still numbering 1 thousand men strong, launched an invasion of former tribe lands, in the river valley to the West of them. Many Levies rose up to help the Ethiopians, as the Aksumites were despised. The lack of levies in the area have made the Ethiopian invasion easy, and it is poised to grow larger. A small force of Aksumites have land near Addis-Ababa, but no Aksum army neared Axum as planned. The war will not be over soon.

"This isn't as easy as hoped..."
General Nyr Nyr of Zylia, 573 BC

The Nubians had launched an invasion of Eur years earlier. It had made slow progress, depsite overpwoering the Eurians in almost every field. The Nubians were cautious war-makers, they made sure thier homeland was adequately defended at all times. Many Generals think of this tactic to be cowardly, or afraid of war-commitment, but it saved the Nubians from completed destruction in the 570s BC.

The Nubians begin to attack toawrd the coast of Eur. The Eurians did not care about thier fringe lands; they had no use to them. The army was protecting the Pharoah and capitol, that was it's mission. The Nubians had almost completed thier ambitions, when something at home happened. The Zylians had invaded in full force! The Zylian navy had patrolled the coast, hoping to destroy the weak Nubian navy with it's newfound Tyrian sailors, but alas; the Nubian navy was up the Nile river, to protect it's gains. A few Tyrian marines disembarked near the capital Enateum of Nubia, but where promptly overwhelemed. Plan B.

The Zylian army amassed, and quickly went across the border. They met little resistance at first, but then the extremely large garrison left behind began to engage the Zylians. The new chariots, Scythed Chariots to be exact, inflicted heavy damage to the Nubians. They retreated far back, beyond the first major city open to the Zylians. They occupied it with glee. They went on to fight more, but where met with an army equal to the size of thier own, except the Nubian army was well trained. The two forces clashed, and the only thing saving the Zylians where thier Scythed Chariot corps. The Zylians sustained heavy casaulties, and it's invasion halted. The Nubian army had sustained many casaulties, but was reinforced with the organised levies. The Nubian navy has sailed down river, and engaged the Zylian one. It surpised it completely, and managed to destroy a couple ships before being routed. The Zylian forces will have to think of something new, as it doesn't seem the Eurians will help them fight the Nubians, and the Nubians will win a long term war.

Maybe being cautious pays off?

We have declared the northern remains of Pescara free game, and will be occupying them soon.

Notes

I have probably made a mistake somewhere. :p
The Ethiopian part of the update is longer than the spotlight! I just had alot to write, I suppose. :p
1 EP will now get you 10 Hundreds, and 10 Ships. This was started last turn, so thats why the numbers will seem a little higher.

Stories people; write them! :p
I will not give a penalty to the person who sends orders last, but I will start giving 1 postive bonus out a turn, and 1 negative one (this is subject to be more and less) and the pattern will be the same. Let's see if you can figure it out?

From: Kingdom of Rome
To: Tuscany

Our army is three times yours in size, better trained, and very eager to annex the land that is ROME'S by conquest right! Either you will give way to Roman annexation, or you will be part of it.

i sent my orders :P
Mjm, could you place my stats on the first page :P

To Kintyre
From Singodia

What madness is this! We are allies against Copan yet now you attack us? We were not involved with the Tikal attack. You know they formed to protect themselves against our expansion.. they seed the world with lies in an attempt to gain the upper hand. I beseech you to rethink your attack. Copan is on its knees and will not fight any longer, do not mistake the new enemy as a friend.

To: Zyle
From: Nubia

Your army is but a small one, we over power you by 9 Hundreds as we can choose the battlefield we fight on rendering your chariots useless. We will withdraw only if you are to give our city back. Do not make a hasty descision as we are willing to haggle and impulses are the downfall to many an empire. Consider carefully, this could mean your country.

OOC: Iggy you bastard (meant playfully) I knew you do that haha.
