IT 1 Update 5
560 - 550 BC
Domestic Events
The Aztec Economy is hit hard by recent socio-political events in the Empire... (see Millitary Events)
The Singodian economy is flourishing, as vast amounts of new lands began to be consolidated. The more the Singodians expand, the stronger thier economy becomes. And so far, they have done it with small losses.
(+1 Economic Point)
The Valencian Economy takes a short dive because of the recent wars, and thier costs. Although it is suspected to recover soon. They also control a larger area, with having to rule over the Tuscans and former Northern Rome now as well.
(-Economic Growth +2 Size)
The Calabrians cannot efficently rule over the new province of Pescara, at it has always been a hotbed of bandit activity since Pescara's fall. Althoguh it does bring in bountiful grain harvests by being flat, ruling over the province is becoming increasingly difficult on the Calabrian administration.
(+Size)
The Sicilians take advantage of the Valencian Economy in wartime, and comishines a new fleet of merchant ships. They do extremely well, and with the capture of Tarentum, the Italian markets are closer than ever. This is all siphoned back into the key port city of Messina on the Northern coast of Sicily. The city has become an Economic Center!
(+Messina Economic Center)
The Ioannou begin to expand along the Theban frontier. Most barbaric tribes are fine to join them, which is a pleasent change from the stiff resistnace encountered while expanding along the Danube, the Ioannou have more similarites with the peoples theese far South, and they all commonly feel inferior to the Greeks. Trade begins to go well with the Greeks. This brings in trade, and in turn, the economy begins to grow.
(+Econmoic Growth)
Peace and Economic prosperity has come to Zylia. The Tyrian Navy and the Zylian land forces make a good team. The land forces expand into the East, although there is little use for the land there; it is but a vast desert. But, many merchants begin to come to Tyre, from as far away as Sicily, and of course the Greeks must travel there to trade with the Mesopatamian nations. All this trade, and how the city has recovered, has turned it into an eco center!
(+Tyrian Eco Center)
The Mylassians begin to develop a city on the island of Cyprus, which is anounced as thier new capital. It disheartens many on the mainland, but is better served for Infrastructre, as the Navy is very efficent.
(-1 Confidence, +1 Infrastructre)
Millitary Events
The Aztec warriors were to set out on a grand campaign, to counqer much, and enslave many. But a grand plot of assassination, death, and secession was being planned within it's two vassalized states. The Tlaxcalans and Toltec tribes both went up in arms. The rebellions were small and isolated, and seemed to be easy to crush. But then the warriors of the two tribes begin to break away from the Aztec millitary, seriously reducing thier numbers, and bolstering the rebel's numbers. They easily managed to gain control of all thier old lands. Both tribes are campaigining hard towards Tenochitlan, in order to deal a finishing blow. The situation is dire.

The Singodians decide to flesh out thier nation, as the recent counqests of Copan and Kintyre didn't seem enough. The war-hardened troops set out into many places. Firstly, jungles in the West were counqered, although the land is plauged with jaguars, disease, and death. A small detachment of warriors sailed the farthest North they had ever sailed. They set out to make a city in name of Singoda. Many men died on the way, but they made it. Finally, a few boats were sent off in the East to try and find uninhabitated land, but the sailors never returned. No one knows what became of those brave warriors. [1]
(-4 Singodian Hundreds. -3 Singodian Ships)
Peace finally comes to the Western Medditteranean, but at what cost? (see Spotlight)
(-Rome, -9 La Legionae, -14 Valencian Hundreds, -4 Valencian Ships, -2 Calabrian Ships, -2 Calabrian Hundreds)
Carthage begins to come out of it's shell. With internal strife, a new king named Ba'al, after the glorious god, is seen to do many great things in his lifetime. The Cathignians expand greatly to the West and South. They also begin to actively trade with Sicily, and Calabria, and to a small extent, Valencia.
The Georgians launch a few succesful campaigns against thier neighboring tribes to the South. They have more than doubled in size, and a few tribes submitted wilfully, which bolstered thier ranks.
(+4 Georgian Hundreds)
After many long years of fighting, the strife in Ethiopia finally ends. A gathering of over 1500 Ethiopian warriors took place outside of Addis Abbaba. They were hopelessly outnumbered, but they fought on anyway. Thier fanaticism died with them that day. Every last man fought to the death, and inflicted many Ethiopian casaulties, but alas, thier stubborness had led to thier downfall in the end. The many Ethiopian tribes have no more will to rebel any longer. Almost all send a token of submission to Axum, and the few that didnt were destroyed. It seems peace has come to Axum, or at least until another war against the tribes erupts...

"Surely Mars will weep on this day!"
General Tiberius, 552 BC, overlooking Rome as it is destroyed.
The Romans were doing pretty good in the early part of the decade. Florence, the Tuscan capital, had fallen. They had captured crucial passageways leading into Rome, and the Valencian navy had trouble doing any more damage to Rome and the surronding area. The army set out in high spirits in 560 BC. They were winning quite gloirously, advancing all the way up Italy. But, this was not to last. The first sign of trouble came when Calabria abruptly banished all Roman merchants from Calabria. Before any negoiations on this diplomatic diaster could take place, war was brought to Rome from thier Calabrian allies.
The bulk of the Calabrian force was the newly trained La Legionae. The Calabrians had no trouble sweeping across Southern Rome. The Roman army in the North was in full retreat. The Valencians swept down, and retook all the hard-earned Roman land in Tuscany. The Romans realised that they had been betrayed, and would be outnumbered, and outmatched, with the Valencian Economic and Naval might, and the Calabrian Legionae, they Romans had thier work cut out from them.
After the immediate Roman flee to the South, the Valencians landed to the South, to try and entrap the Romans. The Roman army had low morale, but superior weapons and training, and broke free of this encirclement. In Pescara, the Valencians were advancing unabaited, and were soon joined by numerous levies of Pescara, which hoped to break away from the Romans. The Roman levies were organised as fast as possible, with the charge of keeping the Valencians away from Rome The Roman army encountered the Calabrian Legionae in force at Naples. A heroic battle insued, with 2000 Roman warriors and levies, and over 2500 Legionae. The Samnite flexibility was found with both armies, but in the end, the Romans were too outnumbered, outmatched, and tired from forced marches all the way from Northern Italy. The Calabrians took Naples, and killed the city leaders, because it had refused to surrender.
The Valencian army broke through the levy lines, and advanced toward Rome. They were joined by Calabrian Legionae. The city of Rome had been severely weakend by raids earlier, and was still recovering. The fight did not last long, although both the Roman army in the south, and the brave levies in the North bought enough time for the King to escape. Nobody knows where he is to this day. But it is almost guranteed he weeps for his fallen Eagle.
