IT 1 Update 6

550 - 540 BC

Domestic Update

The Singodian city of Mayapan becomes an economic Center!

(+Mayapan Economic Center)

The Valencians begin to lay down thier arms, put away the weapons of war, and go back to what they do best - trade. The merchant fleet is bolstered by out of commission gallys and old Navy sailors. A large sum is allocated to the rebuilding of Rome and the surronding area, which was utterly destroyed in the war. Many people died, and the remaining Romans have animosty towards Valencia for this, but the Reconstruction goes well. The city is completely rebuilt, and all who used to live in it return. This greatly improves the attitude of the Romans. It is also nicely positioned for trade, and thus becomes an economic center of trade.

(+1 Valencian Confidence +1 Valencian Economic Center)

The Calabrians also begin to consolidate thier gains from the Italic war, and things return to normal. Being allied with Valencia brings in mounds of trade, although Eastern merchants still prefer the Sicilian ports to thier own, perhaps theese ports need to change hands...?

(+1 Calabrian Confidence)

The Zylians have fully recovered from thier blundered Nubian War. Trade is as high as ever, there are no more bandit fleets. and relations with neighbors are good. Because of many trade oppurtunites, and Tyre's prime trading location, the Zylian economy experiences an extensive boom. This is very helpful. But, with this new powerful economy, and thier rather large realm, the masses are ever harder to control, and Infrastructre is very poor. This makes them overstrectched. The ends of the Kingdom are very hard to reach, only traders would make theese journies.

(+1 Confidence, +1 Economic Spending Point +2 Size)

The Nubians begin to construct a large lighthouse at Alexandria. This will bring ships to the area, as the harbor could easily be the best in the world, and the safest, with this new improvement. It is not too clear on what other benefits will happen though.

Millitary Update

Singodia expands thier colony up North on the Big River, but the distance needed to go to it takes its toll on the soilders more than the actual fight. Some beleive this colony is more trouble than it's worth... and that wouldn't be entirely untrue....

(-5 Singodian Hundreds)

The Calabrians send two different expeditions. One to Dalmatia, north of Thebes, and one to Libya, South of Cyrencia. Both have decent success. Losses are rather high in Libya, due to the Berbers retreating eastward because of the Nubian advance on them in the East. The Dalmatian campaign met some resistance due to the fact that the barbarians there are extremely skilled in warfare, having fought the much stronger Greeks for thier entire exsistance.

(-6 Hundred La Legionae)

Carthage expands in every direction rather rapidly. A new General has risen, Hamilcar Barka, and he has completely remade the Carthiginian Millitary into a fighting machine, which helps alleviate losses and increase gains.

(-4 Carthignian Hundreds, +2 Government Efficiency)

The Nubians launch numerous attacks west into Berber lands. At first, they meet very little resistance. But, soon, the Berbers realize that the Nubians are a much greater threat then they have ever faced before. A few of the tribes raised some warriors. Resistance was still sparse though, as the only place a large group of people could live was at certain oasises in the desert. The Nubians have enslaved many, to work on the Lighthouse.

(+1 Confidence, -6 Nubian Hundreds)

The Sindhese cotinute to counqquer surronding kingdoms. They consolidate quite well, as most are remanats of old kingdoms, which would rather be part of a new one, then be swallowed by a barbarian horde... They do meet some resistance though.

(-4 Sindhese Hundreds)

Not-so Random Events

Ioannuian, Spartan, Trojan, Mylassian, Sicilian and Aztec leadership falters.

(-Economic Growth and Confidence to the lot of them!)

Spotlight

There isn't one!

Y'all are boring. :p

But in a few hours time, I will have the thin borders world map, and we will have a vote on which one people like better.

Notes

Should we have 1 more IT, or a BT now, or no BT for a while? At this point, there isn't a terribly large amount of interesting things at the moment, but you know, that could change... We shall see...

Can't think of any other notes! Sorry for the delay.

The coming of a new age

The Kings of Sicily barely ever left their city of Maelstrom, the nation's capitol, from birth to death, they kept to their section of the city that was sacred to them. Noone dared enter this section of the city.

This area was sort of a city within the city. The King regularly spoke with the governor of Maelstrom, the Visier of Sicily, and his private tutors and council. The only other contact the Kings had were that of their countless women.

With this sort of government in tact, the Visier and the governors of the lands of Sicily were able to act as corruptly as they wanted. They would pay the King's council off so that they didn't open their mouths to the King.

The only thing that could flourish at this time was free trade. The Visier made grand steps to further free trade within the realm. He understood that the way to a strong economy, and more tax money within the coffers of the realm, was to allow business to grow. Most Visiers apreciated the safety that this policy gave them, as their more powerful neighbors became spoiled by the cheap and various goods that came from Sicily.

As time went on, the Kings of Sicily grew further away from the populace as a sort of mystic feller who was a sort of deity. The Deity was about to be displaced, however, by a forceful man who's name was Kybotos.

Kybotos was a man who's background is unknown other than he was the leader of a barbarian warband north of Italia who cut his way through to the dalmatian coast where he was hired by a Sicilian admiral to act as a mariner force for his ships.

Soon Kybotos gained a reputation as he defended the ships of his admirals from many attacks from unknown barbarian pirates in the aegean and ionean seas. He even led 3 hundred Sicilian troops in combat against an outpost of pirates in Bopuh (What my Sicilians call modern day Albania).

This successful campaign put Kybotos in high esteem with the Visier who named referred him to the King who named him "Protector of the Great Land".

With this new title as leverage, and a powerful Visier behind him, he set about an ambitious scheme to take the most ruthless men of the barbarian world and organise them into a cult loyal only to him. These men kept to themselves in a private little section of the island of Sicily. They soon grew in number, however, and set up a camp in Lecce too.

Soon Kybotos knew where he stood in Sicily. He stood as the most powerful man in Sicily, with his barbarian war band that he had been training, he had a foot hold in Sicily propper, Lecce, and in the fleets. He now beseeched an audience with the King.

A messenger was sent to the King by Kybotos himself, bypassing the Visier, and escorted by Kybotos's men. The Visier's men didn't attempt to stop the messenger when he seen the regal looking men of Kybotos. They stepped aside and the messenger went to the King.

Due to opening the mail, I must continue this story at another time

Map should stay as this one unless the other one gains more rivers. It looks WAY too empty for now.

Nice update! I'll reserve my judgement until I see both maps, though I think I'm leaning towards thick.

Nubia wishes to open her ports to trade with your great nation, will she return the favor?

Love the update

The Zylians have fully recovered from thier blundered Nubian War.
OOC@MjM- Hardly blundered, my only goal was to prevent the fall of Upper Egypt. It was quick and successful.

Certainly. Trade is always good.

OOC@Iggy: Hmm, successful? I had many more men than you in that area alone.
