Stupid question about sales tax

so if you buy a 200,000$ winnebago in the USA you have to pay the use tax in every states you go?! lol

If I bought that in Missouri and lived in Missouri, I would pay the sales tax on the vehicle when I went to the DMV (Department of motor vehicles) to get it registered and pick up my license plates because Missouri does not have dealerships collect sales tax on automobiles. If I bought it in Kansas and lived in Kansas, I would pay the sales tax at the dealership where I bought it because Kansas does have their dealerships collect the sales tax. If I lived in a different State from where I bought it, I would pay the tax at the DMV of the State I live in whenever I went to get it tagged and titled.

Moving to another State with the vehicle after buying it, I would not have to pay sales tax on it again and I have never heard of such a weird, goofy thing in my life. I guess it doesn't surprise me that the Northeast would have that, given how weird that region is in general, but we don't have that in the midwest. No, we in the midwest have our own evil called "property tax", and that would have to be paid in whichever State I lived it, though I believe a few States do not have a property tax. The initial sales tax, though, is only ever paid once.

Nope! It's payed by both, regardless of whether it is a tax "on the consumer" or "on the seller"! Learn some friggen economics, grocery boy.

this is correct. both wind up paying for the tax.

The seller will always attempt to pass on the tax to the consumer, but depending on the type of good and market, this is not always possible
