The hope of the Franks had been simple enough- thier fellow Germanic tribes had blocked thier expansion farthier intot he ancestrial hinterlands for decades, and the only alternative would be to go to war with them- and while they had a booming population, the Franks hardley had the resources to war with the germnaic tribes- after all, such a war would be bloody to extreame, as germanic forces would be fighting each other in thier most effective element... so with trepidation, the Franks had appeilaed to the Western roman Empire to settle the land as federates of the empire- besides, why go to war to take lands from fellow germans, when more easy gainings could be had from the Romans...
But things did not go well for the franks- despite the Western roman empire agreeing to let the Franks settle soem of the fertile northwest,the local Roman citizenry, who for decades had bene full roman citizens, decided to take matters into thier own hands...
local merchants went about charging obscene prices for event he most common of comdities, the local popualce of many towns refused to even grant entrence to many franks, the govenors refused to let the franks pass with even the most rudimentary of weapons- and the local soldires- particurlaey the mercenary regiments who came from german natiosn themseves took to hassleing the fraks, and went so as to fully refuse to patrol and defend the lands settled by the Franks...
it was so that the Franks began sending thier own military forces across the rhine, for if the romans would not defend the frankish settlements, then they would themselves- the local govenors, alarmed by this action, took it as a full blown invasion- and once word reached Julian the Apostate, Emperor of the West, he himself took matters into his own hands, and orderd a full assult on the Frankish forces...
And right after a prayer to Sol Invictus (AKA a Roman form of the Persian Mithras), the Franks were decimated.
The settlements of the franks had been in lands that where thier exact opposite for what they and thier troosp were used to fighting in, instead of the dense forest of the Rhinelands, they wer ein the fertile plains of Gual, and the Army of western rome, led by its last contingents of true Legions, full of old roman glory were eager to earn a victory for the man who had not only brought hope to Western rome, but was of thier own religion and faith...
Spurred on by the mighty Victory at Noviomagus, the Emperor of the West orderd the beginiung f massive military reforms, to help cut the dependence of forign mercenaries, and bloster the recruitings of actual Romans in the military...

Moreover, sending out warrior nobles as diplomats, carryign the sign of the broken spear, the sign amoung the peoples of the european steppe of non-hostility, they nobles scout the lands, and broker deals with other tribes- and as the centrilization under the khan has led to great fame througout the region for him, and the Alans, many tribes and warlords flock to join his banner- soon the great master of the land between Dnieper and Volga rivers, it is at thier closest proximity, right between them, that the khan calls for the trbes to pitch thier tents, and to begin sending people to scout the local resources- for the Alans are going to settle.

Firmlly bent on reaffriming trade lines, the economy has taken an upturn in the eastern Empire, but the most notable fact is the Eastern Empires diplomatic efforts, for both security on its borders, and its attmepts to reunfy theempire- and while successful in its quest to bring about a more firm alliance with the west, the citizens of the West make it clear to thier emperor -and the eastern emperor- that the last thing they want is a christian emperor- the only acceptions to that are in south Italy, and the province of Carthiginian north africa, which both have large chrstian communities dont care much about reunifacation one way or another, though they do make it clear that they find the current western roman emperor, a paganto be distasteful, of what consequences this will breed for the new found Roman legue (OOC- sorry guys, the latin legue ended somehwere in the 3rd-2nd centuries BCE, i see no need to offically resurrect i, but rather make a distinction that this is is a
different legue)

The Nordsmen decide, while attending that Tuetonic kegger, that thier names is somthing to be desired, and reform it to Scandinaves, the new name. plus thier attendence attracts a large body of warriors, who say they have to right the injustice wrought to the people of the scandinaves int he name of their god of awesoemness, intheir land, the mighty Xen, For he in his haste gave thee land both a ****ty name, and ****ty military numbers and whule the clothing of the Xennites was, being that is was composed of shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops, tellign fo thier travellign from a far distant land, the scandinaves welcomed them with open arms, and the Xennites were soon incorperated into Scandinave society. the end result is +500 warband, +1000 archers, and a name change from the nordsmen, or what ever the hell they called themselves before then.

The persians have decided to attempt to regian the glory fo the great Acheamaenid dynasty in a new, a way, surprisinglly, that dose not imvolve goign to war directlyl or indirtectlly with the eastern Roman empire, but rather attempting to bolster persias land in influence in Cetral asia- meeting with ferice, in disunified bomad tribes, and having sent but 500 troosp to secure the area, it is ment with limited success, and if more informcements are not sent soon, the land coudl end up a drian on the persian coffers to keep the local nomadic peoples from rebeblling

yes and no, essentially you did, but I felt the update needed to show exactley what land had been federated by the franks to be under, essentiall co Romano-Frankish rule. I suppose you could say that the land in queston is still inhabited by frankish settlers, but controlled by W. Rome
