The Armies of the Western Roman empire, freshly re-inforced with over 2000 infantry, set about to finally conquer the frankish lands. Sending scouts ahead, the Roman military is able to avoid many a military disaster, but still at cost, as to lure the franks into attacking a sizable scouting.decoy force had to be sent

However, prepared as they were, and frankish leadership- or rather lack thereof, reached an all time low, as, in short order, the Roman army reached the walls of the frankish capital itself, and the ensuing battle was more of a massacre for the frankish forces- lacking leadership, the Franks moral was almost completely broken already, as their own king, sitting on the throne of the city now surrounded by a roman army yet still refused to wield command, and viewing this, and the event that had led up to it, the franks had no other choice; hefting the king from his throne, they opened the gates of the city, and threw him out, where upon the franks of the city willing adopted the Roman emperor as king of the Franks- most of the land already conquer by the Romans, and the area around the city itself have pledged alligence tot he Roman throne,though resistance is still a hold out in the east of the now ex-nation, here the next in line for the throne was able to escape, but wallowing in self pity, no one is sure if he and his loyal retainers will be able to put up any resistance to the Roman, and the now Romano-Franks (historical note- there are several cases where germanic tribes would, upon seeing the lacking quality of their leadership, pledge loyalty to rome- the best case is in the dark ages, where the ostroghts pledged alligence to belisarius, and offered to make him their king- though he claimed the ostrogothic kingdom for byzantium)

Socially, the reforms of the western roman state continue, but there is ongoing bitterness is some regions of Italy, and the area of carthage from the ongoing reign of a heathen emperor- however concerning the situation, the W.Roman emperor takes comfort in knowing that his own great success has sparked dissidence from the polytheistic ares in the E.Empire, such as Athens,Ilium, and Adrianople...
A major feat for the Roman emperor is winning the support of the frankish settlers in central gaul- while not completely romanized, the location, so much closer to italy, and therefore the watchful gaze of the emperor, th elocal officials, and generals aid, by official order, to help the franks establish a town, and as such, after hearing of the defecting of many franks to the Roman side, and the annexation of the nation by the Romans, the locals feel more at ease accepting Roman law and custom, or rather infusing it with their own culture- the generation of the children born in franklands, raised a modicum there, and a good deal in rome soon accepts the Roman way as the way to go abotu things, and even go so far as to be willing to join the army, shoudl the emeror wish it- the franksish substate is, if the stern force of the emprors will to romanize them continue, not exapected to last long as a semi-indipendent entity.

All hell breaks loose in eastern Europe.
The great tale of the decade begines with the event of the previous 10 years- when the Roxoliani, perceiving the scout sof the Gothic nation as invaders, killed them, leaving a wound to the untied Gothic pride, despite the rift of religion that had appered between them- with the coming of the new decade, the Goths had built up considerably, even building a small fleet, which had economic advatages for them (bonus rolled) and after ennsuring their own border on the danube was secure, they set about to avenge the humilation of the Gothic nation.
The Visigothic contenginet itself was rather small- 750 cavalry, 600 Huscarls,300 Archers- it was the ostrogtohs, who, having all the federate cavalry troops sent, proceeded to add their own considerable numbers ot the gothic host- 3050 of there mighty cavalry men invadeing the plains- the ostrogothic king had chosen to spend all of the econoym availiblle to him on raising troops, as, after all, they would be put to good use!
Initially, the Gothic host encounterd little reisistence- in fact nothing, litterally- the nomadic Roxolianii had left most of their western posseisions for the season, lookign for better pastures to graze in- though as soon as the few Roxoliani tribes who had not left found a rather large, rather confused gothic army wondering about the plains, they made sure to alert the others- including the now defacto overlords of the steppe, the Alans....
The great battle for the steppe happend almost a third into Rox territory, where the visigoths, eagerlly plundering one of the few camps f the natives they had been able to find, found a combined Alanic-Roxolani army coming to engagethem- not forgetting that they were one who were conqoureing, they soon, and more then willinglly formed up- after all, they were eager to fight, and gaint he spoils of battle!
It was the goths who first pressed the attack, their ousecarles forming up in stout order and adavnceing- the goths, having, after bordering the Eastern romans for so long, has learned a thing or two of established roman tactics, and the effect upon the roxolani was immeditate- mistaking at distance the gothich huscarlkes for Roman troops, a greta number of their styandard horse feld the battle feild- after all, no Roman army had ever conqoured the steppe, as their was nothig there for them to conquer- once they saw this, they would, as always, leave- however, the more experinced and veteran of them knew better, and along with the Alans, proceeded to charge with 300 meters, and being fireing their bows- and even though the Goths had predicted such a move, and had station archers behing the lines, the germainc bow and bow lock were of no compariosn to that of the steppe bow, and the Housecalrs were promptlly being mowed down in the middle of their freinzyied- yet orderlly- charge... until however, the ostorgothic cavalry arrived...
the Stteppe horsemen had been under strict orders to to first exclusivlly focus on the Housecarles- which although a sound tactic when facing a strictilly visigothic enemy, wa sof little use when the opponents cavalry is present and charging at you- the result was was half staying to battle the goths, at least those who wer ein the face of the ostrogothic charge, the remaninder of the troops, as orderd, avoiding had to hand comabt altogether, and retreating- all the while, the gothic hiscarles- and the huge masse sof yet unacounted for warband, who had been runnign to get into the engagement soon arrived... the resultant melee, which was forced upon the steppe people were disasterous, and although the Goths too suffered heavy losses, it was clear that both luck, and a slight miscalculation on the hands of the Alans, notabley in what was the most setrious opponent on the batle feild had meant the difference between victory and defeat on the steppe...

The immedtiate result of the battle was that the goths for the time being, had gaind a large foot hold on the steppe- and that the roxoliani completely joined the Alans as a federate nation- in a similer manner to how the ostrogoths had join the Visigoths...

moreover, the battle had shaken the faith in the cristian visigoths- after all, it was they who had by far suffered the most casualties of anyone at the battle, while not only had the ostrogoths suffered -comparitivelly- light casultues, but it was they who had won the battle- the ostrogoths made good use of the sentiment to encourege more traditional out looks on the Visigothic christian, even having some convert back to the old gothic faith...
However, that was far, far from the last battle to be had on the Steppe...

Romans, expecting the majority of Gothic troops to have been slughted, had olny sent a small contingent of troops as mop up (OOC- this is what you get for not sending a specified amount of troops. I have already said evertone needs to send exact numbers. and you shoudl be thank ful i didnt send a large force, and have them get slughterd.) However, the reality was much different- the Goths had been sending scouts far and wide in search of litterally any spoisl to be had, but so far, there had been little luch in even finding a day old comapsite, and with few exceptions, they had come out empty handed- even the great battle had yeilded far less spoils then the Goths ha dbeen expecting-and so when severla hundred Roman troops cam marching in the newlly conqoured Gothic territory, they Goths wer emore then ready to fight...
The fight was, by the standards of thye great battle of the steppe, less the nominal, a few hundred underprepared Roman infantry who had expected little more then patrolling duty in thier own and allied territory were met by a still several thousand strong force of goths hunting for loot... making continued use of the Githic cavalry, the Eastern Romans were soon overrun, and goths, feelign confidant, even managed to snag up to the defensive walls that had been built in the area of roman terriorty- and while having no real population aside from a few resident nomads from Alania or Roxia, the moral change was noticabel in the Gothic camp...

however, more was instore for eastern europe... after gearinf the loss of some northern territory, the ahinaltionf o300 infnatry, and dissidence form the pagans reseinding in the eastenr empire, moral of e. rome had reached an all time low point- until, a small confidnece boster was gained at the arrival of troops from the Roman kingdom of Britiania! Longforgotten in the eyes of the eastern empire, the arrival of over 1200 troops form the bastion of Rome in the north are more the well noticed, and thier high moral has an effecton local troops- so that over all thier moral stays about the same... at the same time, a wider gap is made witht he W. roman empire in the eyes of the citizens, due to the pagan emperor, and him not being the one to aide eastern rome... not to mention the fact that he is winnig his war outright, and inspiring the local populaitons of pagans to be far mre vocal in thiere arguments agiasnt christianity

The people of the north have bigplans, and, after gitting troops from thier allies in the form of thier UU, and establishing a trade rout with the teutons, the longships set sail... reaching the coasts of Pictland, the ships- filled with ex-Roman troops gone rougue and noe mercenaies, as well as the troops from the northsmen, a landing is soon made- but the picts have grown vigilent- they fully expect the attack from the sea- and while the troops are prepared for thier job, the picts fight ferociouslly- sizable losses are had by both sides, though the use of mercenaries sends shockwavs through the pictish host, and they soonbeging to blam the Roman kingdom of britian as partially repsonsible for the raids, and they prepare, mainlyl out of frustration at not being able to end the sea raids, to invade britiannia, and as such, quicklly replenish the losses they had in battle....

The perisan meet with GREAT resistence in the stepe and deserts near the caspian sea, effectivlly halting thier progres,, as, even wityh standing ordes, the commanders feel the emperor would rather deal with the new situation with a full force of troops, and the mod would liek to deal with far less number management in troops losses then he has to in this update, because that part really sucks. why have the mighty armies of Perias been halted? the barbarians to the north are orginizing, as a branch of the same barbarians that were forced from Mongolia have spilt from the rest of thier tribe, caucasians, they have been givin the name Ephthalites,or, White huns- the Huns in the area have rapidlly created thier own domain, and gave gaind great respect from the peoples of the steppe, as the steppe people relize that these people may have the experience needed to drive back the perisans...

At first, all seems to go well for the the mighty Muhammed, his corps of dervishes crushing the opposition in both the nrth and south fo his lands, giving the people the chance to surrender, soem do, though if they dont, at night his troops silentlly enter, and kill every male over 14 year sof age- a tactic inspired toensure that all the dissidents convert, in the north, it soon backfires...
Long used by both perisa and Rome, and all the empires before them as mercneriaies, the people of this land have long grown accustyomed to indipendence, anly wearing loyalty when they want to- more concerning to Muhammed however, is the fact that as merceniares, thes epeople have also grown accustomed to alomst every dirty tactic in the book- particuraley when faceing persians...
it takes onyl a sngle slip to notify the tribes bordeirng Rome of what is happening, when a camel trade reaches a settlemnent that had recentlly been cut down of its males by Muhammed- busy giving the same ultimateum to other tibes int he area, the caravan, soon amkes its way back t the north- alerting the northernes... and so they hatch thierplan... the army of muhammed, or rather a contigent spilt away from the main group soon reach a village in the north where, as the contingent expected, the ultimateum was refused, and so, preparing, as they had so many times before, to come at nigh tan slaughter then men, as soon as they are out of sight, the people of the village prepare- the men leave, joinign a small army of profesional mercenaires of the region a few miles out, near the rocks and canyons where the dervishes have little experince in, and sonever evn think to check there...

...and the confidence grows for the rebellers... as even if that tactic is to fail ther is still one sure fire way to stop the hedjazites...

At first, all seems to go well for the the mighty Muhammed, his corps of dervishes crushing the opposition in both the nrth and south fo his lands, giving the people the chance to surrender, soem do, though if they dont, at night his troops silentlly enter, and kill every male over 14 year sof age- a tactic inspired toensure that all the dissidents convert, in the north, it soon backfires...
