SuBI1 - Masters of the high seas

Great deals at the beginning to shore up the gold situation. I was watching the Dutch every turn to find an opportunity to deal, but they must not have had a harbor. I must have missed it on my last turn. Great work! :goodjob:

Manp'o flipped! That's terrible. If nothing else, we need to pillage that iron! With Feudalism out there, the Byzantines may pick it up quickly. And if you thought our luck versus spears was bad... But nice pick-up on Taeju! Where is that? Did the Viking city fold (Alesund) fold? Or did you find iron on the island north of that? Regardless, that's awesome. Now to get it connected...

There's no way the English would trade Feudalism. Its now extremely highly valued because its a government tech. Without iron, it doesn't do us much good though. I doubt it will be traded around too quickly. No one seems to have much gold anyhow, as I didn't see much in the way of trades my whole turn.

And the Dutch should keep things interesting. Just keep hidden our secret plans to steal their lighthouse in the future. :mwaha:

Map of our Korean Empire.

Could it be an attack routine on the Byzantines?

Our only, and unconnected, iron city (needs a worker and harbor) :(

We lost Manp'o  Oh well, prepare the armies! :soldier:

Just got a chance to look at the save last night. Wow. Tokch'On is one heck of an agressive settlement. I wouldn't expect to hold that for too long. All the gold from the hill is wasted due to corruption. I wonder how Liz will appreciate our city there. But then again, in the future, the island will be ours anyhow...;)

I don't know if I would bother spending money on Tokch'On. We need our money to get our iron connected and for battle. But at least Tokch'On gives us a bit more unit support. That's never a bad thing.

It's been 64 hours since the last turns were played...

No-one has said Got It.

SuperBeaver, I suggest you take it on.

Alright, I got it.

You guys will have to skip me, as I am currently suffering from technical difficulties with Conquests. It is refusing to start up :(

Okay, moving right along then... A bad run of luck I guess. Balastulin?

SuperBeaverInc. - skipped

Pre-turn.

Switched Taejon to Barracks from Horseman as suggested. AAAH! Two Dromons near Taegu (iron island)

I've decided to build up the forces in Incheon and then go for an assault Chalcedon -> Manpo -> Trebizond.

Then we'll sue for peace.

Sold Code of Laws to Hannibal for 33 gold.

We have a healthy 16spt in Seoul, so a horseman every two turns, which is nice.

So let's go...

IBT

Nasty Dromon destroyed the Banana road to near Busan.
Archer killed spearman near Naissus but is redlined.

360AD (1)

Seoul Horseman -> Horseman.
Horsemen and swordsmen starting concentration in Incheon.
Hurry Taejon barracks for 124 gold. Should be good for horsemen. We want that iron badly...

Coimbra would be a nice staging post to conquer the English island... But we're at war at the moment.

IBT

Two swordsmen enter our territory.

370 AD (2)

Busan horseman -> horseman
Pyongyang horseman -> horse
Taejon horse horse
Wonsan aque to barracks.
SpikeIt worker to spearman
Horsie defeats one swordsman, loses 1 HP. Sword defeats other and promotes to veteran.

ROAARR!!!! Our regular galley near Busan is redlined but defeats a veteran Dromon. Now shall the world know of our supremacy of the seas! I think we should get a Golden Age for that, but am slightly disappointed...

No-one's offering any decent prices for techs so no trades.

IBT

Dromon lands a swordsman near our warrior-defended city of Sariwon. Three swordsmen coming through the jungle. Aaaah! One of our swordsmen killed NE of Incheon. Bad tactics I'm afraid to say by me.

380 AD (3)

Hmmmmm, just asked for peace from Byzantines and they have Feudalism, which means it's going to be pretty difficult to capture their cities when they have iron...

Right. Chalcedon it is. First horseman redlines and retreats but takes two HP's. Second horseman defeats spearman. Go horsie. Here we go. Third horseman retreats with no damage. Fourth defeats the spearman and we've got it! Renamed to Go Horsie GO! (subsequent suggestions will be accepted.)

Manpo next...

Rush a horseman in Incheon for 56 gold.

IBT

ROAR!!! Our warrior shows that the Koreans are NOT to be messed with as our warrior defeats the swordsmean as he attacks Sariwon. That was lucky... Swordsmen move towards Go Horsie Go and Incheon.

390 AD (5)

Consolidation to amass horse army. Take a warrior from Paegon to explore goodyhut found on island to Paegon's SE. Chinje changed from worker to spearman as I'm getting scared of the ba-bas to SW.

IBT

Swordsmen moving over to Go Horsie Go. A cowardly dromon attacks our galley near Suwon. We take one point but sink.

400 AD (6)

Our veteran galley exacts a swift and convincing revenge from this droning dromon.

Taejon riots. Sorry guys forgot to watch for growth.

Seoul horse to horse. Check for happiness. Lucky. Seoul nearly went.

Right Manpo... First horse gets there and notices one bad thing (iron is already connected) and one good thing no pikemen! Call the Byzantines scientific? Well they're clearly not very intelligent. First horsie takes one HP but kills a spear. Second retreats but reduces reg to 2 HP. Third horse redlines, retreats but takes the spear to 1HP. Fourth takes him out!!!! You beauty. We now have Manpo and iron. Lovely...

Think about making peace but notice some of our Korean people have been enslaved and are being forced to work on the iron mines near Manpo. One horseman should do the job...

Hurrah! Ask for Trebizond but no go. I decide to take peace whilst we are ahead. Now that they have no iron (and no horses) they should be easy pickings in the future. They don't even have any money or luxuries.

Change Manpo to Library.

Incheon to Aqueduct

Seoul to Pikeman for Military Police. I like the idea of Sun Tzu's...

Offensive units are converted to Defensive for the moment to provide MP's and the two defender rule.

IBT

Byzantines scurry home.

410 AD (7)

Rush the library in Manpo for 156 gold. 50 gold from the GHut.

Reorganise our victorious forces.

IBT

zzzz

420 AD (8)

Irrigate a mined square so that we can bring fresh water to the southlands.

430 AD (9)

Tokchon from worker to Library. Jeesh. The English are knocking every day throwing pamphlets on to the doorsteps of our good Korean people.

Rush a library for 140gold as the Byzantines are pretty good with the old Culture and I don't want those puppies splittin.

IBT

One extremely tooled up Viking archer not only takes out the barb village on the iron island, but also fights off no less than eight horsemen!

410 AD (10)

Have taken the warrior from Haeju and put in galley to explore GH on island to east.

I suggest that we consider building a slew of settlers soon to populate the other islands. Also the Byzantines are wandering around our lands. I didn't want to push them out as I'm a bit wary of them attacking us.

Looking at the save, great job on reclaiming our lost city AND one of their cities! :goodjob:

Now, that we have military advantage over Byzantines now.

I'm not sure about building Sun Tzu -- that's 600 shields and that is equivalent to 20 swordmen (wouldn't we rather have that?). Remember we're on an limited size island, not continent. Another issue is that our failing economy -- we need to connect all of our cities, and then try to hurry their growth with aqeducts, build marketplaces in size 6+ cities that is producing at least 10 commerce, and then make money off it.

When our capital build the swordmen army, we can go ahead and conquer the rest of Byzantines, and build a FP in their capital. We'll have a strong empire on our island, alone.
