SuBI1 - Masters of the high seas

You gots it. ;)

I'll look forward to the victory screen when you get to it. Have fun and thanks for stickin' in there for this crazy drawn out game.

Here we go....

Before turns: as Battleships are a long way off, I bump the tax to 10% to pay for all those beautiful libraries we know and love.

IBT: beserker attacks and kills one of the riflemen guarding a Hwacha stack. He is sooooo dead next turn.

1630. Can’t rush library in Utica because of resistance. Hence decide to wipe Carthage off the face of the earth. Trondheim and Oslo fall to the mighty Korean war machine after lengthy pounding by our mighty Navy. Bergen falls on the East coast.

IBT: sign a flurry of deals with England, getting an MPP, an 79 gpt-odd for gems and spices, silks such like and they get industrialisation.

1635. Scandanavia is now an island… and a pretty unhappy island at that!

1640: Build some libraries, move settlers. Found Chongju on the southern island. Share of the world now 65%. Found Victory Village near SpikeIt's pub in the hope that it will push us over the 66% mark... it does.

IBT. Lizzie wants some incense for 11gpt. I give it to her for free 'cos we respect other people with good navies.

1645. Finally, seven months and twenty seven days from inception, it's over...

And for those of you who want to enter this into the HoF, here is the pre-save.

Wang Kong finally goes to sleep

Well done everybody... at long last!!!

Right, this may sound totally crazy, but does anyone want to try this again, on version 1.22? Reason being that the whole naval supremacy thing was dealt a bit of a death-knell by the fact that we started on the largest landmass of them all (by quite a margin). If we could get an independent to get us a map with a much more regular archipelago, then our variant would be a lot more meaningful

Congratz guys! Been a long time, been a long time comin'. I'm sure you'd be able to get some interest, just choose a civ that makes sense for the type of game... Dutch, English, Byztanium, or.... The Viks.:)

Nice job Balastulin. You finished that up real quick. And its over, its really, really over. Hmmm, maybe we should PM SuperBeaver to tell him his abandoned SG is finally done. Naaaah. :p

Thanks for hanging in there Balas. I really wanted to finish this one up. And thanks Alerum for providing a bit of a push to finally get this done.

As for another. Well, I'm committed to DGIT4 (just around the corner). And if I continue doing more than one SG at a time, my wife would just about kill me. I have too much going on for the next several months to even give it another go. But maybe you can find some interest Balas by starting up a new SG. Up the level a bit, I think. 'pelago really seems to weaken the AI anyhow, regular land masses or not. I think part of the problem with this variant is its hard to define a large navy vs other units. Its just too vague. But I think the research variant proved interesting and could be more fun with a more advanced AI snagging all those naval wonders first.

Well, see, that was part of the point of the variant. We were purposely not a seafaring civ. And all of our opponents were. Wang Kon just had this incredible fascination with boats for some reason. Balas even moved to a job in Korea to find out why and Wang Kon signed him up to build boats. Who could have seen that coming?

Balas, if you do start the SG up again, I'll be happy to make a map for you. There are probably others a bit more skilled, but I'm sure I could come up with something somewhat interesting.

Yay! And more good news, C3C is working for me again :yeah:
