Sucession game - LK4.

Next challenge - Get those workers in hiding in cities in use!

Please do NOT automate workers.

I found this is my Greek game. The automated workers are very stupid such as over mining mountains and hills that a city can not use. I plan to make this a ground rule in future games.

Not feel nervous, the Aztecs hav a HUGE army in our lands, I killed most of it. Dont worry! You must not have much confidence. Although the Aztecs may destroy our iron supply, we have plenty of swordman! Trust me! The Greeks have helped us by luring the Aztecs to them, and we attack the onrushing troops. They will probably not bother to pillage anyway. One of our cities was attacked, but no damage done. We can overpower them! And yes, Rome has nothing left to offer, raze them.

Don't forget that Pi-Ramesses is built ON an iron source and we shouldn't lose that unless we lose the city or its connection to the capital.

This game is going well and I feel confindent that we will be "an island unto ourselves" not too long from now.

Probably a good idea with the Romans. No use for them, and they can only cause touble by asking others to attack us or voting against us or somethig dopey like that. Even if the city is crappy, it may keep some other civ with magic galleys from sailing to our land and planting their own crappy city there. With a harbor it could survive well enough (keep in mind I'm going from memory as to which city is Pisae).

Is there any hope of that "canal" city on that land bridge? Could be helpful later on.

Looking forward to my next effort!!!!

"Don't forget that Pi-Ramesses is built ON an iron source and we shouldn't lose that unless we lose the city or its connection to the capital." :) :) :) :)

Makes me feel better.

3 votes to kill Rome. Wonder what there fate is? :ripper: :rocket2: :rocket: :rocket3:

Is the above a good enough hint?

I know, I've downloaded the game and am playing today. Sorry for the day or two delay. I've started my turn but was unable to finish, have to go to work... So far here is what has happened:

Aztec archer, spearsman, and swordsman are rampaging in the mountains just north of Rome. I have them isolated, and when the come out of the mountains they will be slaughtered.

Discovered a small island to the northwest of Greece. It has horses!!! I'm going to start a city there.

I've also landed two swordsmen outside the Aztec capital of Tenochticlan. I assume that if we can capture this city, the Aztec empire will be a little more eager to accept OUR terms :)

Ok, so I'll post a little more detail later today, along with the save file for the end of my turn. Thanks for your patience. :egypt:

Dang, I thought I'd be able to get my second round in before my buisness trip. I have to go to Orlando on Thursday aft and I'll be returning on Sunday (12/9) afternoon. I'll be able to post, but I'll have my dopey Mac laptop with no CivIII. And, yes, it IS a business trip. No Mickey for me :(

Given the timing, let me know if you'd like me to:

A: Play right after Lurking and pass it on to Skidi (switch with Skidi). I can play and post this evening if Lurking finishes today.

B: Let fsume93 take my spot and I can play when I return on Sunday (switch with fsume93)

C: Skip me altogether and curse my name for ever having joined.

Let me know what you'd all like to do.

I vote for A.

"A: Play right after Lurking and pass it on to Skidi (switch with Skidi). I can play and post this evening if Lurking finishes today. "

If Lurking can post in time, then you can move tonight. If not, we will skip you for a round.

Sounds like Aztecs some cleaned up Finish them off in our territory, get the forbidden palace in Rome, and take that last roman city (if not gone already).

Lurking takes over in 360AD:

AD 360 - hurry a few swordsmen

AD 370 - Jengebes finishes The Great Lighthouse!

AD 380 - Rome and Pompeii have civil disorder. We capture the Aztec city of Cumae. We now control the "landbridge city". It will be an excellent station for military operations.

AD 390 - Egypt attacks the Romans, destroying their last city. The Roman civilization is eliminated from the game.

AD 400 - The Egyptian people reward their leader with a palace expansion!

AD 440 - The second phase of the palace renovation is complete!

AD 470 - After centuries of research the Egyptian scientist discover the secrets of Monarchy.

AD 500 - The final phase of palace expansion is complete. At least for now...

AD 520 - Finished off the Aztec forces north of Rome. There are no Aztecs left in Egyptian lands. "Goodbye," states the King.

AD550 - Lurking passes away leaving his successor a world that looks like this:

Here is the save from the end of my reign. Next please!

"AD 520 - Finished off the Aztec forces north of Rome. There are no Aztecs left in Egyptian lands. "Goodbye," states the King.: :goodjob:

I love all the wonders we are getting. :D
Great way to improve culture, plus the bonus effects.

First contact coming up with another civ.

Rush build horsewater temple / then habor. Will make us much stronger. Can squeeze a second city on the island.

Someday we will have to explore the land east of Pompeii.

Incense to be added soon. You can never have enough luxuries.

Keep building forbidden palace in Rome.

OK, guys. A bunch of things happened during my turn – so I only played 15. I think that this game is just about a coast at this point. We rule.

Sorry that I don’t have time to write an amazingly hilarious story with this one. I still haven’t packed yet. I’ll entertain on the next go-around.

Thanks for the shift in turns that allowed me to play at such a fun time.

550 AD:
Took over the land and surveyed our mighty empire.
Aztecs and Greeks have a pact, but Greece doesn’t seem to want to declare war. Smart for them.
I woke the 4 swordmen near the capital of the Aztecs. I thought they would do more good by pillaging. There is only one source of Aztec iron that they’ve built a road to, and it’s right by the capital. Pillaging that mountain road will stop their swordsmen and further pillaging will likely isolate the capital.
I changed Alexandria to build a harbor and rushed its completion. We are approaching other civs and I would like to trade luxuries and resources.
I have my eye on two Aztec cities: Xochiclco and Tlacopan. X has horses and T can give us 3 extra incense.

Our swordsmen kill some Aztec swordsmen on the land bridge. Continue to move toward the two cities I like. Our galley will transport some for a ship-disembark-attack routine.

Our other galley reaches land that is occupied by (at least) the Iroquois. I call upon Hiawatha. They have contact with the Germans, the Americans and the English. I figure I can get them on my own. They also have wines, but apparently no harbor as we cannot trade. The only tech that they have which we don’t have is currency – which we’ll finish in 5 turns. For currency they want nothing less than contact with the Aztecs, but I won’t allow it. I figured that they are far enough away as to trade world maps. Wow.

The Americans, English, Germans and Iroquois are all on the same continent. I guess it’s not surprising since we were on a continent with 4 total civs as well. The Iroquois and Germans each have 5 cities and the English and Americans each have 4 – and the continent is full. Must have been nice to be on a smallish continent with 3 expansionist civs!!! Only the Americans and English have built harbors, so I set out to meet them.

560:
Harbor finished in Alexandria. Let’s get to trading luxuries. Build some roads onto our extra fur near Rome.
Swordsmen climb the iron road on the mountain near Aztec capital. We can see this destruction soon.
Germany contacts us and offers Currency for the bargain price of 18 gold. What the heck, it saves us a few turns and helps our rapport with them, OK! They also have Monotheism, but nothing will work that does NOT include contact with the Aztecs. I give up and start to research Feudalism. Figure I’ll get Monotheism from them soon enough.

570:
Iron road for Aztecs pillaged. No more swordsmen for them. In celebration, our swordsmen crush no less than three of theirs with no losses. They are SO dead.
Attack on X and the city is ours. 3 resistors should not be a problem – especially as I will soon sever contact with the Aztec capital. Goal number 1 reached! This city will supply the horses we’ve long awaited. Roads already being built to connect.

580:
More pillaging around Aztec capital. Our swordsmen are giggling, though they realize this is likely a suicide mission.

What’s left of the Aztec swordsmen are approaching X. We are ready.

590:
Quelled 2 resistors in X. Our first of the 4 swordsmen of the Apocalypse is killed by an Aztec archer near the capital. He did his job well.

Berlin builds the Hanging Gardens. Rats. Thebes is forced to build a cathedral with 10 shields as “overage”. No big loss, I guess.

600:
Revenge on archer for killing our swordsman. The two others pillage and the capital is cut off from the other cities.

We contact the Americans and the trading begins.
Americans want WAY too much for their extra dyes and we HAVE to say no. For our furs, the Americans give us contact with the English, their world map, and 40 gold. Good enough for now.
Contact the English. They don’t even have Monarchy and offer me a huge 1 gold for it. Ah, they’ll get it anyway and I do it to promote better trade.
For our furs, the English offer 2 gold/turn, + 20 gold. I agree and they are now Polite with us.
For the resource of iron, they offer 3gold/turn + 4 gold. I agree to this as well.
I trade the Germans our world map and 170 gold for Monotheism.

We are now even in tech with everyone and ahead of most.

610:
Resistance in X is over. They celebrate by killing 2 approaching Aztec swordsmen. The Aztecs call on us and ask for peace. Their capital is now in chaos and fires can be seen. I cut them off from their spices. They don’t have anything good to offer – no cities. I continue on with the war and will go for Tlacopan (T).

Aztecs are able to kill two more of our capital-isolating swordsmen with 3 archers used. Dang.

620:
Our last wounded swordsman pillages a final road knowing it would be his last act. We should plan a memorial for these 4 swordsmen.
Our forces approach T. No more Aztec swordsmen around to stall us.
Our final of the 4 swordsmen is killed but takes an archer with him.

630:
The first battle of Tlacopan results in one dead Aztec spearman. 5 swordsmen now surround the city.
Rome falls into chaos and it takes SEVERAL entertainers to quell the riots. Looks like war weariness in creeping in. I will get peace when T falls.

640:
Our swordsmen kill the remaining two spearmen in T and take the city. Another of our swordsmen kills an approaching archer that was stupidly coming to help. We also get 3 workers out of the conquest. I offer peace to the Aztecs. They are still unwilling to part with any cities, but I take all of their cash and their world map. Seems they’ve built a city on the island off our East Coast. How did they get there?!?!?!

Trading time.

Call on the English. The Germans have held onto Monotheism it seems as no one else on the continent has it. I will sell it around before the Germans are able.
The English give me their World Map, 5gold/turn and 16 gold for it.
The Iroquois give me 5 gold/turn, 70 gold and their World Map for it.
The Americans amazingly give me 1 stupid gold for it. I said yes as they’ll get it anyway.

650:
The Road to T and X are finished and resistance in T has ended. This means more incense to trade!! And now we have horses too. Once Horsewater builds a harbor, we should have extra and the Americans don’t have horses.

For our extra incense:
The Americans give us 2 gold/turn and 30 gold
The English give us 4 gold/turn.

I call on the Greeks, and see that they don’t have Monarchy. They are allied with the Aztecs who have it, so I thought I’d sell it to them. They give us 6 gold/turn and 9 gold.

I now bump our science rate up by two notches and still see a surplus.

Our ship sees a village on the island to our East where the Aztecs colonized. I’m going to try to get a unit there to see what’s in it. Without war, there’s nothing else to do.
660-670-680:
Nothing happens in these years except our workers continue to improve, we change our building from military to infrastructure (now cathedrals are available), and our ships continue to explore.

690:
My last turn. We are one turn from Feudalism. Thebes build a horseman. The only improvement Thebes hasn’t built is a courthouse. I started the city on this, but when we get Feudalism next turn SWITCH TO BUILDING SUN TZU!!! Thebes has no need for a courthouse.
I rushed the building of temples in X and T in order to help our border culture as well.

That’s about it.

My only thoughts:
1. Switch to SunTzu’s as above. The next tech should likely be Theology, and nicely enough the next few techs should only be about 10-12 turns to research at our rate. The Sistine Chapel will be nice with our religious civ.
2. I do have some cities building horsemen. We can upgrade them to knights when we get chivalry and really put a hurt on the Aztecs.
3. Spearman is ready to enter the village. Hope you find something good there.
4. It may be a good time to start irrigating in a few places, but not so much as we’re still a ways from getting hospitals.
5. I’d probably like to continue our culture build. Working nicely for us so far.
6. Rome is only about 18 turns from Forbidden Palace. I tried everything I could to get an elite unit to give us a leader, but no luck. Grrr.
7. I’d keep on trading where I can (I hope the Iroquois and Germans build harbors soon), but I would still hold off on selling any contact with other civs.
8. A galley waits off the coast of X. It may not be a bad idea to build a pikeman or two and get them ready to do similar pillaging around the Aztec capital if war strikes again. This was very effective and seemed to paralyze the Aztecs quite well.

We are basically in the driver’s seat with this game. If this were boxing, the ref might be close to calling a TKO. I don’t think the civs on the other continent will be players at all – unless one of them takes over a huge portion of the land there. There’s really nowhere for them to go, and we have our continent pretty much locked up.

Looking forward to seeing where we go from here.

Kev - If you want another succession game, I lost 2 players in my India game.

I love where the Aztecs are. :goodjob:

You are right about our position. Score is off the chart, and the Aztecs are #2:crazyeyes. Power is off the chart, and we have no JUNK units. Culture is pretty good also.

Domination victory looks quite possible, and probably how we will win. With that in mind, send a settler to the Aztec island. I want those 3 horses, and a jump on that island.

When Rome comes on line, we should have a hugh production base. Keep building forbidden palace. Plus 3 gold mines at 100%. Killer economy at that point.

Switch Heliopolis to spearman after Cathedral. We want to free up swordsman from defense.

Up next - swidiwilli, then back to normal order. Plan for Aztecs, round #?

Oh, the nice space we found. Talk about a horse overload ;)

"Hello?! Is swidiwilli there?"

"What do you mean no!? It's his freaking turn!"

"Oh, he has other more IMPORTANT matters!?"

"Well tell him, that if he wants us to wait, he better tell us so on the thread. Otherwise, he might meet with a evil demise..."

Swidiwilli, is anyone home?
