Suggest New Civs for Civ6

@Guandao I notice you put Belgium on your list. What about Albert I of Belgium and Charles Rogier as a potential leaders?

Ambiorix of the Eburones may not be particularly relevant to modern Belgium, but he is a popular figure there also, considered a national hero.

I'd also suggest Pygmalion of Tyre as leader for Phoenecia:

During Pygmalion's reign, Tyre seems to have shifted the heart of its trading empire from the Middle East to the Mediterranean, as can be judged from the building of new colonies including Kition on Cyprus, Sardinia, and, according to tradition, Carthage.

This would fit in well with Phoenicia being a Civ with a focus on sea trade.

One suggestion; in some cases you could use Wikipedia pages from regional versions of Wikipedia for each leader on this list. There is now a translate page option on most browsers, and translating a language like French across to English should not result in too many errors.

This would make sense because it can offer far more complete information. Whilst internationally famous foreign leaders such as Napoleon have proper English Wikipedia pages, other people mostly famous in their own countries regularly get poor coverage. For example, Charles Rogier is a quite important figure in Belgian history, and so has a fairly sizable French Wikipedia page:

https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Rogier

But according to the English Wikipedia page, he is something of a non-entity:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Rogier

Similarly, Spanish Wikipedia has a sizable page for Carlos Pellegrini, an important Argentine president:

https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Pellegrini

But on the English version, there is basically nothing:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Pellegrini

Should I just do this for French, Spanish, and Portuguese? Or even other languages like Pashto for the Afghan leaders?

Not quite a "new" civ, per se, but I've got a strong suspicion that we might be getting Macedon in an expansion. Gorgo appears set up to be the militaristic Greek leader, and it is curious the role didn't go to Alexander. Also, Greeks don't have the hetairoi this time around, so there's already a unique unit for the taking.

Oh, I wouldn't bother in most cases, that would be way too time consuming for you, and in most cases the English Wikipedia articles are fine anyway. I was only thinking about in cases where the English Wikipedia write-up was completely unsatisfactory.

The Crown of Aragon's Empire, with a king like James I the Conqueror or even Ferdinand II (Isabella of Castile's husbie, as she never ruled anything but the Kingdom of Castile).

Heck James I even wrote his autobiography in Catalan (well or had a scribe to write it in his name). He also compiled the "Llibre del Consolat de Mar", which governed maritime trade and helped establish Aragonese supremacy in the western Mediterranean.

As a unique unit the Almogavars (specially known the Catalan Company and its retribution against Byzantium in Greece).

Check the map of the Empire in its maximum expansion:

As it seems you're building an exhaustive list, I'll repeat my Nigerian suggestions here :p.

Oyo empire (Yoruba people), led by Oranyan (creating a link with Ife). Similar to the Benin empire though, which most people will be more familiar with.

Nri Kingdom (Igbo people), led by Eri. Total peacemongers, which could provide some interesting gameplay mechanics. The are two civ5 mods for it actually.

I'd love to see the Olmecs as a new civ, I've been pretty interested in them for a while. But have no idea who their leader would be

Sadly, leader names are hard to find for the Olmecs due to their poorly comprehended language.

The Olmecs mods used Po Ngbe, Tu, and U Kix Chan. Not sure if these are actual Olmec names.

I'm kind of busy now with my studies, so will probably not update the list regularly, but keep on suggesting new civs!

As an alternate leader for Hawaii, I would like to propose King David Kalakaua.

I picture Kamehameha I being a War Focused leader with a secondary Expansion theme centralized on Naval aspects, and a tertiary Diplomacy theme.

For Kalakaua, I think focusing him on Culture, particularly on Music and Great Musicians would be most fitting. He would share the Diplomacy and Expansion subthemes with Kamehameha, but with an emphasis on Diplomacy instead of Expansion, and specializing more in developing existing territory.
