Suggestions and Requests

I found out about a feature that I consider really neat in RFCE.

When you build a city on a fort the city receives free walls.

I don't know how desirable this is for DoC becausce it incentifies prepping cityspots, but a similar bonus for building on cityruins seems historical appropriate.

I wish city ruins had more intergreation in the game. Granted adding archeology, musueums, and exploration in jungles (musuem related stuff) would be intresting. but they would require an overhaul to what cultre does.
 
Admitedly the only civic that seems fit in speading up library is city-states. Not every building has a civic that speeds up its construction.

I wasn't saying libraries needed a civic, I was responding to the complaint that libraries are cheaper than markets and harbours. Harbours can provide a considerable amount of food for a city so that makes it important that they are not too cheap, and markets are cheaper with guilds and have a potential happiness bonus.

Perhaps there's an archeology tech in the history rewritten tech tree? I really like the idea of doing more with city ruins, and also with ancient wonders in modern times, so they could produce culture or cash with certain techs/civics (as a result of tourism, of course).

I know Leoreth has given thought to this but don't know if/when it would happen (hopefully soon?)

Well, in my own mod, I upped the cost of Libraries and Harbors to match the Market (120 hammers, I believe), but I suppose changing the cost of Libraries would have a bad effect on the tech rate of civilisations. Though, I've also changed the effects of these buildings.

There is. Also there tourism as tech, so wonders and ruins produce something.
 
It would be cool if things like this could become a part of tech overhaul, I still have a note somewhere to that effect.
 
Perhaps we could look to Civ5 for inspiration? :mischief:

There is an estimation that Achaemenid empire controlled 45% of total population. Maybe change their 1st UHV, so that the player emphasises growth and conquest of populous cities, than settling useless cities.

I agree especially with the new way culture works persia is hard and not that fun, little bit same story for mongols.
 
At least Civ 5 isn't ugly enough to induce physical pain upon viewing screenshots like Civ 6...

To be fair, a lot can change between early looks and the games actual release.

Finally? There's a veritable circlejerk going on in this forum about how bad Civ5 allegedly is.
 
Most people dislike Civ5 for strange reasons though, which is evidenced by the apparently widespread sentiment that things are fine now that BNW has come to fix most of its issues.

I agree with this. Most of my conversations about Civ5 start with comments of it being worse than Civ4 or something like that and then immediately the other person says that now with BNW everything is pretty much fine, but none of the things I find bad were actually fixed with BNW. :crazyeye:
 
BNW did add some nice stuff like Trade Routes and Ideologies and their interaction with culture. What really fixed Civ5 for me was the Community Balance Patch, but then again that's a mod so it might not count.
 
I think the most unique or special aspect of the Aztec in comparison to the other groups around them was that they literally settled in Lake Texcoco on swamplands and reclaimed land from Lake Texcoco, both for farming (chinampas), and to build their capital city, Tenochtitlan. This city was built largely out of stonework, and is most commonly estimated to have a peak population of over 200,000, meaning it was larger and more grand than any European city other than perhaps Constantinople, at the time.
In my opinion these are the most unique and interesting features of the Aztec: their reclamation of land and their construction of such a significant city (and over a period of only about 200 years). I don't think that these are well-enough represented in Civ 4 or this mod, especially as the tiles around Tenochtitlan don't really help making it a large city, even with the flood plains and food bonuses.
I don't really have any specific suggestions so perhaps I should've posted this in the general discussion, but this thread seems to get more traffic and interesting debate/ideas, so maybe people will have something useful to say in response?

Also I've been a fan of this mod for some time now but only recently made a civ fanatics account, and just wanted to say I think Leoreth and the community are really great and have made an amazing mod! :)
