Sid's last(?) game Starships was a flop.

2K+Firaxis have quietly forgotten about that and we have erased it from our collective memory. (I was a pre-order, yet only played 7.5hrs of the game).
Sid is the Ridley Scott of 4X.

TBH given Anton Strenger's departure (amongst others like Will Miller co-lead on Beyond Earth) a year ago, I would have been more comfortable to see the lead developer come on stage to announce Civ VII.
David McDonough(?) was the other co-lead on BE.

From all the titbits from the announcement and Steam, it looks like Firaxis are biting the bullet and re-engineering Civ in Unreal. (Civ X?)

I predict this is going to be Firaxis' GTA6 (or else expect a terribly buggy launch).
