My point exactly. The mobility - both in WWI, and in such wars as the Russo-Turkish one - was more of an exception, until ofcourse infiltration tactics and so forth appeared, but, and that is the point, it all appeared in the early 20th century as opposed to late 19th.

Nope, at least as far as 1815 goes. By then, mass armies were introduced, as well as more accurate weapons.

Anyway, by 1825 Dreyse was already in the gunsmithing business, so you would get your modern rifles in a while anyway.

Players are quite willing to - and do - take a given scenario and manipulate it to their own ends, realism be damned. You of all people should know this.
