I noticed that after I posted. And northwest of the forest looks like a lake to me, I can see some flood plain to the west of it though.

Normally, the first person takes 20 turns due to the first 10 being so.... well so .

It's up to you, you can take another 10 or I'll take over, whichever you want.

Another hint: The first turn you settle your first city you can go to your scientific advisor screen & pick out the tech you want to research. This does 2 things: saves you a turn of research. And you can then go to your domestic advisor & reduce the research rate to pull in that extra gpt or 2.
