Suppose you were an identical twin, and for some reason inherited all the nerdy genes and intelligence genes, and you have never been on a date in your life. Your brother however is the athletic and outgoing one, who picks up all the girls.
A very beautiful girl comes to your door one night and thinks you are your brother, and says she's ready for you to take her to dinner. Your brother forgot all about the date he had with this girl, and so is not even at home. And as a bonus, this girl is from out of town, so has no clue that you are twins.

Do you....

1. Go on the date with the girl without telling her your identity.

2. Go on the date with the girl, and tell her your identity some time during the date.

3. Tell her upfront while at your house that you are not your brother.

4. Invite her to the September Star Trek convention.

5. Tell the girl your brother still wears Spiderman underwear.

Which course of action would you take, this is your one and only chance as the true armchair general to make executive decisions for yourself! :)

I want good reasoning for decisions too, so no spammy answers.

Um, identical twins are identical. Genetically speaking there's bugger all difference.

I tell her upfront that I'm not my brother.

But identical twins being so different? Tough to imagine... :crazyeye:

Hey, I'm the only one so far who would go on a date with a beautiful girl! :D
Actualy, you're not the only one. As desperate as I am (Eventhough I am a Jaded Cynical Dater), I would go for it :D.

Um, identical twins are identical. Genetically speaking there's bugger all difference.

They are typically mirror images of each other, but it is completely possible for such contrasting personalities amongst identical twins. Not all genes have to be turned on, and not all are split the same exact way. Phenotypically they look completely identical, but genetically there are some subtle differences.

I knew a pair of identical twins who, having made slightly different lifestyle choices, looked different.

At any rate, if he is so athletic and I am not, she would notice. If not, i would tell her up front (if I started lying, she would still find out anyways . . .)

Differences in gene switching tend to start out zero and increase with time. And personality wise, identical twins tend to become more alike as they age. Identical twins with wildly different personalities would be quite something...

Actually they are not completely identical phenotypically as the environment also affects the phenotype. One may have spots in different places to the other. People who are very close to the twins (ie Parents, wife/husband of one) can tell the difference between them (although obviously it's more difficult as the differences are far more subtle).

Well I meant that to some they appear to be, but as said there are subtle differences in outward appearance and genetic makeup.

Back to the topic! :)

I can only imagine the dinner to turn out extremely awkward. Not only would i have to entertain the girl, which given the OP would be hard enough for me, i'd also have to pretend to be my brother. What if she starts talking about some experience she shared with my brother, but that i know nothing off?

And when she invariably does figure it out (I mean, she must know my brother has an identical twin, so it won't be much of a mental stretch for her), will she do so in a clever way that doesn't indicate to me that the jig is up, then take revenge on me in some very evil way?

Go on the date with the girl, and tell her your identity some time during the date

Spoiler :
After we've done our job, on the bed.

I'll even share the experience, with my brother too.

This is the kind of question where you can sort out gender and age of the posters :D
Being over 40 myself, I can easily see that it couldn't possibly be worth alienating my brother (and btw, ruining any chance I might have of attracting the girl on my own merits), just to get in her pants once, under false pretenses.
Of course, for most gonads-with-legs, read young males, nothing takes precedence over getting a girl into bed, by whatever means necessary..

Tell her immediately. If, by some chance, she wants to go out with me (which is very unlikely), do so. However, not telling her immediately would mean being a jerk towards my brother - okay, it's his fault for forgetting he was supposed to going out with her that evening, but it's still a bad thing to do.

Sorry I couldn't help, but to click on the Star Trek option...

Anyway yeah I'de tell her...probably:crazyeye: Depends on how awkward I felt and how hot she was. If I thought I could pull it off though...
