Supreme Commander / Total Annihilation

I just got this game and I must say its freekin awesome, the battles are absolutely a blast to play, I didn't realize that the ACUs explode with nuclear force and I subsequently lost my entire army after destroying one, and man are the freekin nukes powerful. I had a full army of heavy tanks and siege assault units inside the barrier of a heavy T3 shield and the edge of the nuclear explosion nearly broke the barrier, luckily it didn't because I had roughly 70 assault units in there and that would have been hell to lose all of them before actually commencing the attack.

I must say though the static defenses are a bit to powerful especially the stationary artillery pieces that you have to build, they pack a huge punch.

Calm down, Christ...

I know it's being made by the same team, but they're not making it as a sequel to TA. If they were, they'd have given it a plot that was compatible with the history established by TA. Instead, they've taken the same principles of gameplay and made something fresh out of it. It's a "Spriritual Sucesssor", not a sequel.

the reason why they didnt make a story similar to it was cuz they patched the story of the first one together at the last second making the story a :deadhorse:

i also have supreme commander... its fun but the time it takes to make my army is to long to hold my interest. so i dont play it very often...

Personally I think the shield generators can take to much of a beating, and it seems to be quite hard to maintain mass which gets really annoying, any tips?

Upgrade your mass extractors one at a time. Then when you get T2 power plants, start building mass farms.

Did anyone else get a French tech tree with their game? I did, but I phoned THQ and they mailed me an English one. :crazyeye:

I played Total Annihilation loads back in the late 90s/early 2000s, but I haven't really played Supreme Commander much yet...looks like a worthy successor though.

Nope!

Bah. Go back to playing DOTA like they all do in Singapore :mischief:

This game rocks, althoughI have noticed, that if a UEF player can get a maver up the game is over. It has a consant rate of fire, indefinate range and never misses. But it takes forver to build, so really if a UEF player gets on up then u prolly deserve to be killed, but really, even if you do manage to nuke it or something(twice!) half of your everything is already gone.

I'm tired of these accusation....you can build experimental units in 40 mins tops if you know what you are doing, which unfortunately most newbies dont.

well considering that nothing else in teh game but the expieramental units in the games takes forty minutes thats relatively forever, hell, most whole games dont even take forty minutes.

Not with the latest patch, and you do know each T3 engineer cuts building time in half?

If a mission/skirmish in a RTS takes less than 40 minutes in single-player, then I ask for my money back :smug:

Honestly, I like a slow, drawn-out game with lots of battles.

Have you played on line yet? Most games take around thrity to forty minutes, if you wait around to long your going to get exploited, the game is cleverly designed so theres nothing you can do to make a "perfect" fence, theres always a way around it or a way to exploit it.

Thats the draqwback for me, the first day i got the game i put the AI on challenge expecting to getmy noobness smashed, but I actually won, after playing a few rounds I managed to beat two supreme A.Is, its just not as challenging as it could be.

Yep SC is mostly building and turtling with minor skimishes.
(its the economy that draws most of the time when MP)
Its not a bad game but its very easy to jump to tech 2 then simple case of ramping up your mass and energy.

I prefer the very action packed company of heroes over SC

Geez, FriendlyFire and I even disagree over computer games...... :D

Supreme Commander rocks every other strategy game, for one reason above all others:

The free zooming. Zoom out, put the cursor where you want to go, zoom in. Fast and intuitive. I can get anywhere on the battlefield in two seconds, and I find it very easy to manage three battle areas at once. I use this one feature so constantly that I find every other strategy game clunky and cumbersome.
