Swift-boating a 12-year old.

So you consider medical care a luxury equivalent to a holiday at Disney Land? That is an interesting perspective. Do you consider food in the same category as well?
Are we talking about a polio vaccination or 25 years of antiretroviral drugs and therapy?

I can we why the wingnutters would go after the Democrats on SCHIP but to attack a sick 12 year old and his family is really dumb. It just makes them look that much worse.
Getting a kid to say "can I pwease have my drwugs so my mommy can hug me?" is equally despicable, but it was the Democrats that did that, compared to a couple of Freepers that posted the kid's address.

Besides, was the address an unlisted number? You can usually find people's addresses in a telephone book. Plus, the name of the father's company was Frostworks; I don't think you need Rockford to figure out who the owner of that establishment would be...

Plus, when you drag your kid up on the stage for a public exhibition, you probably should be aware of the consequences. When you make a name for yourself, you make it for everybody, not just the saps that the Democrats' heart-string-pulling message is supposed to attract.

Keep thinking that way. We'll have a Democrat in the White House and control of congress for the next 50 years.

This is all terrible.

The dumbwits on our goverment tried to get votes by apearing in Idols. I thought that was rediculous. And of course it was. But this is turning nasty. And the response to it, is a debate over who is the most evil. Aren't you forgetting the big glaring stupidity in letting politicians go on campagning this way effectively. As long as you do exacly what those campaigns are meant to do, they will keep on doing it.

"We threw a 12 year old to the lions and look what they did to it" :(

What's the point of putting up his address? So people can write letters to the kid? Oh wait, I thought he was being EXPLOITED OH NOES. Shouldn't they have posted the DNC's address?

The reason the address was posted was to terrify & intimidate the boys' parents. I mean cmon, this is Free Republic. Not only can I picture some of these guys building mail bombs, I can picture some of them claiming loudly that they have a right to do so under the 2nd Amendment.

What the article does not mention is that Halsey Frost has owned his own company "Frostworks",since this marriage announcement in the NY Times in 1992 so he chooses to not give himself insurance. He also employed his wife as "bookkeeper and operations management" prior to her recent 2007 hire at the "medical publishing firm". As her employer, he apparently denied her health insurance as well.

His company, Frostworks, is located at 3701 E BALTIMORE ST. A building that was purchased for $160,000 in 1999. The buildings owner is listed as DIVERSIFIED INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CENTER, LLC whose mailing address is listed as 104 S Collington Ave which is the Frost's home. The commercial property he owns is also listed as the business address for another company called Reillys Designs which leads to the question of whether rental income is included in the above mentioned salary total

The current market value of their improved 3,040 SF home at 104 S Collington Ave is unknown but 113 S COLLINGTON AVE, also an end unit, sold for $485,000 this past March and it was only 2,060 SF. A photo taken in the family's kitchen shows what appears to be a recent remodeling job with granite counter tops and glass front cabinets

In that context, it's meant to destroy the kid and his family?

Come on, Merkin... you should know as well as anyone that just owning a successful business and expensive retail property doesn't mean you'll be able to afford the whopping $150 a month it costs for a basic health insurance plan.

The Democrats' use of a 12-year-old in this speech is as appalling as the Republicans' use of a disabled veteran of the war in Iraq to push "not cutting and running" in a television commercial.

Exactly. That's appealing to emotion instead of fact, and it makes me sick.

However, what I find particularly vile is that FreeRepublic still has not removed the posts containing the kid's home address.
I hadn't heard about posting the family's address... I agree it should be removed from any posts/comments.

Health care for $150.00? Might have been true back in 1951, but today even basic coverage in the $600-700 range for one person, a family runs over a thousand. My work insurance (with a $1000 deductible) cost my employer around a $1000.00/month.

Yeah, but the entire point of politics is to do arguments that work, not whether or not they are rational arguments. As I said before, it's ******** on both ends.

What the ** kind of insurance do you have?

Looking at my last check, it cost me $53.76 for a two-week period, or about $106 a month. $500 deductible.

Medical 38.50
Short Term Disability 8.19
Dental 3.00
Long Term Disability 2.59
Short Term Disability Plus 0.75
Accidental Death & Dismemberment 0.73

The address should have been removed by a responsible moderator. A responsible poster would not have included the address in the first place.

Which would likely have not have covered the boy's situation. Just ask Michelle Malkin from her crying a few years back about how "far" even $700 a month will get you in the private helth care system.

They pay 2/3 I believe. So even combining mine and the employer's expense, that would still put it at 1/3 of the cost you are claiming your insurance costs your employer.

And this is Wal-mart, the place certain people are always whining about it having 'health care none of their workers can afford!'.

So you consider medical care a luxury equivalent to a holiday at Disney Land? That is an interesting perspective. Do you consider food in the same category as well?

I don't, but apparently his parents who are soley responsible for providing for his health care and are fully capable of doing so do. To them golf clubs, a Lexus or whatever they spent their cash on that seemed more important to them than their childs health care was the priority. So is the government going to step in for every lapse in parenting? Dad bought grass seed instead of sending you to little league? UNCLE SAM TO THE RESCUE! Mom bought a pair of shoes instead of braces? ENTITLEMENTS TO ALL!!!

Or I will put it this way, if it is the states job to parent then you can pay for this kids health care if you want, right after you remove the kid from his home which apparently doesn't provide for his needs out of choice AKA abuse.

Parenting is so last century anyways, lets just raise our kids in government camps so we don't have to worry about ******** parents anymore.

BTW, "kids" in this bill inludes people as old as 25

But if your employer is paying the rest, your cost is still low. I know walmart was offering an extremely low cost basic health plan to its employees. The point is, a lot of people dont even get such health coverage when its affordable and available....simply because they think they will never get sick.

Unfortunate, but true.
