I'm really looking forward to playing CIV IV and bought the game!

Too bad ... I keep have problems with my performance although my machine meets the minimal system requirements.

My machine:
Pentium IV 1.4 Ghz
512 MB SDRAM
Geforce 2 32 MB with hardware T&L support

I set all video and sound configuration to low, but the game still crashes every now and then.

What can I do to get this to work better? Are there any configuration settings I'm forgetting? Please help, I wanna play! :)

The best thing is to wait for a patch.

You could try the lowest resolution and other graphic card drivers and chipset. Try graph card driver lower than 52.16 for best performance.

The game crashes is (I think) because of the memory leak the only way to get that fixed is by an patch.

My computer always crashes when i am just about to construct a wonder, the parthenon. Will this be fixed once i can download the patch? Pc is 2GHZ, 512 mb RAM.

In requirements to play they say a radeon 9800 is best. And with a "Single 256MB PCI-Express nVidia™ GeForce™ 7800 graphics card": is this a good card? Can i play it then with all options on, with the grafics going perfectly smoothly or do i have to get a better video card?

Dont't worry everybody can play Civ 4.Trust me.
My "beast" is:
Celeron 950
Via 694+ Pro
256 SD Ram (any1 have spare 256 sd-ram from an old comp,I would be gratefull)
40 GB WD
Geforce 4 MX440

And I play the game on High, just the low ram is troubeling me.
But dont't worry if I can play it everyone can.
It's just that damn black terrain.....

Best games to every1

I have:

Athlon XP 3000+
1024mb RAM
GeForce 6600GT 128mb

Forceware 77.72
3dMark05 score of 3526

And the game lags... with 1280*1024 and LOW detail.
What's the problem??? Any suggestions?

No, if you can play it, NOT everyone can.

I have:

P4 550 (3.4GHz HT)
1.0G PC 4200 (533 MHz)
Ati x300 128MB

..and the game crashes to desktop pretty much whenever it feels like it.

Later!

PCI Express or PCI-E is a new motherboard, no less than than 1.5-2 years old, and more than likely will not be a Dell, Compaq, HP, etc.

Geforce 7800 is the premium Nvidia graphics card, if you go green, there is nothing higher than a 7800. Going Red, Radeon 9800 is two generations old, behind the X### series and the new X#### series.

A 7800 will cost between $200-$300.

I've been reading this forum quite closely and also the news groups.

I've never seen such a poor launch of a game, with so many technical problems. I suspect a lot of users who do not have great technical knowledge with be driven to distraction.

I think I will wait a few months before getting Civ 4.

As a matter of fact, it is sold by Dell. And do you mean there is a difference between PCI-E and Geforce7800? And what do you mean with green and red?:crazyeye:
