I like to sneak downstairs at night and pour away my sisters bottled water and refill it from the tap. Does this make me a bad person?

 No. No it doesnt.

I like water that has a bit of a metallic taste. So for me that would be kitchen.

Hose is good too. (jk)

Tap Water in California sucks ass.

Move to coastal Carolina. The water has sulpher in it. You wont even want to shower in it.

We have a well. All the water tastes good. Water is generally piped to the taps in America. Taste wont differ much from tap to tap. Toilets have their own water tanks carried piggyback.

Bacteria can't live in well water but the water tends to have a lot of mineral deposits(hard water). People have a lot of gall stones.
City supplied water comes from a river or resevoir of some type. Is softer water but full of bacteria that has to be removed chemically.

Usually I cant differienciate toilet tap from kitchen tap but in my appartment the toilet tap water smells like rotten eggs so I dont drink it.

Although in summer getting a refreshing sip from the garden hose is a must !

I once visited a place in Scotland were the water was brown, it was harmless mineral deposits but the water did look funny. Mind you the tap water was from a main where as the bath water was from the loch.

The kitchen, because it's closer to the refrigerator. I fill the bottle from the kitchen tap, put it in the refrigerator, and in a couple of hours the water is excellent.

A few hours later? I'd die of thirst by then...

English water is pretty similiar wherever you go from what I've tasted, although moving from soft to hard water areas can make you queezy as the chalk content can take a while to get used too. Big city water is no better or worse than small village water. But then our water is apparently the best and safest water in Europe. It's just a pity there never seems to be enough of it, wierd this is England it rains alot, invest some money in the victorian water system you tarts!

I always get my tap water from the water dispenser in the fridge. I don't know if that counts as "tap" water, though.

this thread is actualy making me thirsty

I reckon there should be a poll to see how many were influenced by reading this thread...

Missouri river tap water here, and it's just awesome.

If you're in the UK, the bathroom tap, however, is probably fed from the cold water tank in the loft

Could you please go into more detail about this "cold water tank in the loft"? We don't have that over here and I'm wondering what the benefit of it is.

The hose is always cool and refreshing, though I normally fill up 5 gallon jugs and put it on a water cooler. Kitchen sink water smells strongly of pool cholrine.

And the water at my school has ions of some kind in it according to a test done in my chemistry class. Although some fountains have good, cool water and plenty of it. I go from the other side of the school just to get some of that water, of course despite the fact it is pretty good sized I can transit it in under 30 seconds because I run everywhere for particular reason. It is worth it even in the face of tired Forrest Gump jokes.

Kitchen, but only through the water filter (same with ice).

We have a water tower on the top of the building, and since I'm unsure if the tap water comes via the tower or straight from the water system, I use the filter for peace of mind.
The tap water in NYC is very good otherwise.

Actually, I'm a bit baffled about the question. Does that mean, that in US, you have different pipings for kitchen and bathroom water? 'Cos here the water temperature is exactly the same both in the bathroom and kitchen. Or haven't your US-grynders heard of insulation&whatnot :) ?

Heck, here we flush the toilet with the same water we drink (no, not from the same tap, but it's the same fresh cool drinking water that flushes down our feces).

it's usually the same lines, yes, but to me, for some reason, the bathroom water always tastes sweeter.
