Three against one. The guy struggles, but isn't harming the cops in any way. So let's tase him?

The video does not lie, after the incident the man had a seizure, and was then refused medical treatment. Ⓐnonymous is always watching. Officers badge number 398. Officers name - Lemke Commanding officer - Sgt. Reid ...as you wish (More video coming soon)

We usually have some people here who can give more or less reasonable arguments in support of police violence. Can someone explain to me why it was necessary in this situation?

Cops are cowards, getting more cowardly by the day.

"I had to tase the 80-year old drunk! He was walking funny and could have spilt beer on me, for fracks sake!"

Now I've seen a lot of these taser videos and most of the time it is difficult to tell whether it was neccessary or not. In this case It was completely pointless!

I would like to hear more about the backstory of this, why was he arrested?
Also, why were the policeman stalking him? They should stop him for a chat explain to him the situation in the calmest way possible and then just arrest them.

Resisting arrest, case closed.

Also, bandannas, awesome. OH NOES NOT ANONYMOUS!!! The sea lawyer is the best part. Seriously, these OWSs are less sympathetic every day.

Less sympathetic to whom? Sycophantic self-righteous sociopaths?

Due justice is electrocuting civilian protesters.

Do we know why he was arrested in the first place?
I can't find where I read it, but apparently he had been tearing down several "eviction notices" or whatever the orders are called that were placed on the tents.

Also, found another comment on Youtube:

Haha. I know the guy in the red pajamas - His name is Ryan and used to make bread at the Olive Garden, really nice guy. It's too bad he was tased - however the person who posted this video needs to get their facts correct. Ryan wasn't refused medical treatment - HE refused medical treatment. Also - He never had a seizure lol

Seriously? That's the best you've got?

Yeah, he's resisting arrest. But he's not violent, and he's actually not running away. In fact he's acting rather calmly. I can't imagine they'd have spent more than another minute getting him handcuffed.

If the second police woman had helped arresting him instead of pulling out her taser for fun, that is.

Good to know that you believe cops are so feeble and weak that they need a taser to arrest some unarmed hippie.

Cops just love their toys. They're so fun to play with!

I find it particularly amusing how two to three of them are disgusting fat pigs suffering from metabolic syndrome, which has actually progressed rather fast given their relative youth, and are as a consequence of that unable to do their job (without the use of exessive force).

This is a somewhat milder equivalent to a 300 pound cop shooting and killing a guy in a wheelchair who is "resisting arrest" by rolling away at 1 mph, merely because he is too damn fat to catch up with the guy.

Really? he was fighting and kicking his legs all over the place. Law enforcement for the most part believes this is the safest option. A lot of people believe they should only be used in place when a gun would be used.

Nothing looked illegal or inconsistent with most law enforcement policy. This video doesn't show or uncover anything new.

They don't even make it perfectly clear to him that he is arrested and still he is putting his arms on his backs, but whenever he does so they push his torso, resulting in him taking his arms off his back. That's like allmost a reflex.
They make him do that.
Same is true for his feet. They are not properly holding him as in impeding movement and offering stability but essentially tripping him. Not that that's their intention, they are just complete idiots who are apperently uncapable of doing this correctly.
All the guy is doing with his feet is trying to avoid fallling face first.
I didn't see him "kick" at all. He is trying to recover balance while they are tripping and pushing him instead of actually holding him.

Probably would have happened, too, if this had been Iran.

But it didn't. You should be thanking the American police that they use tazers instead of batons or hollow points. That's the entire reason the tazer was invented: so that the police wouldn't have to bonk people on the heads in order to get them behind bars. A concussion takes a good deal longer to heal up.

Edit: it looks cooler when it's spelled with a Z. :)

If he's under arrest, why can't I hear the cops reading him his Miranda rights?

Nah, that's not how it works. Some of us expect our cops to be more than donut receptacles with a chip on their shoulder.

It worked, didn't it? One hit with the tazer and he quit struggling and allowed the cuffs to go on.

That's not the point. He was allready displaying perfect readiness to be cuffed, even though they didn't properly announce that intention to him.
Then they essentially tried to push him over face first instead of actually cuffing him, which he somewhat resisted (he didn't even try particularly hard).
Then they tased him and cuffed him on the ground.

The point was not to end his "resistance".
The point is: They wanted him on the ground.

The sensible solution would be to tell him that he is under arrest and order him to lie down. They could even let go of him for like two seconds in order to a) do so and b) give him an opportunity to do that in an unimpeded way.
It's not like he was running away. He has allready stopped his slowly shuffling away when he realised he was surrended.
If he would not comply they could have plain lifted him off his feet and put him on the ground...you know, by like actually grabbing his presumably dirty hippie behind and actually supporting his weight and stuff...

But no, the only solution the saw was to make him fall:
They pushed him. He didn't fall.
They triped him. He didn't fall.
They tased him. He finally fell.
They probably would have shot him next.

Refusing to fall - The most disgusting, pernicious, crazy anarchist, cop-hating form resistance!
What's up with people and their anarchist attachments to their faces and their front teeth?!

Miranda rights aren't actually REQUIRED unless you plan to interrogate the guy, contrary to most crime shows.
