I did read 200g but wrote 500. It is a good deal but i'm hesistant to give them gold, it part of the DaveMcW plan he used so well in the MTDG pitboss game.

The thing to ask is why are they will to off load to so cheaply when they are the tech leaders, no doubt they are getting a lot out of it too. I've composed another offer to Loco (see Loco thread), have a look and see if its ok before i send it off. However if Loco are not willing to deal we will have to look at doing a deal with Epsilon, although i prefer to swap them Music and get some gold from them

Well, we've never heard back from you officially, but our scouts report that you've acquired both Theology and Archery recently… so we'll assume that was a "no thanks" on our offer to sell them to you.

It appears the only tech we have that you don't is now Compass(400 ) – would you be interested in working out a deal on that? We'd be happy to entertain any suggestions you'd like to make. If you happened to be interested in a gold for knowledge deal, we'd be willing to let Compass go cheap to start on the right foot… say 40% of the beakers in gold, payable over time?
If you're more interested in tech for tech, we'd love to hear that proposal as well – though in the interest of full disclosure, we're very near learning the secret of Music ourselves, so it will have to be a trade for something other than that.

#1) Traders-Only Open Borders! With your boat out sailing the seas,
and with our recent launch of naval forces, it's only a matter of time
till we meet, and can begin prosperous trade. However, given the
understandable security concerns of both our nations, we'd like to
advance the notion of a "Traders-Only" Open Borders agreement. In this
kind of a deal, we'd sign an open borders deal, but no units can
actually cross the other's borders without the other's express
permission. Thus, trade can commence between our peoples – but the
sanctity of our borders are preserved. We could sign this deal now, or
wait till one of us catch's sight of the others borders.

#2) Trade for Feudalism. We noticed you recently learned the secret of
Feudalism (700 ). Would you be interested in trading this
knowledge for our deep secrets of Philosophy (800 )?

I dont know about the trade...BUT one thing is clear we need to establish a "trading tech embargo" against Epsilon. OR do we make nice to them so they do not get involved once we start kicking piffle in the head.

I am for the open borders deal. Undecided on the trade deal....does any of our allies have it.

Hmm i see the point in OB and commerce etc, however what may happen (it hasnt happened yet) is religion spreading. though i suppose its a risk we have to take.

From memeory Innovia asked us not to trade feudalism with anyone else, correct me if i'm wrong.

The open borders is good but i don't like the traders only bit, its a big advantage to them because...

1. They can have religion spread and see into our land but we wont be able to see into theres and most importantly...

2. Don't know if anyone else noticed but both Piffle and Epsilon have Paper and i would bet my left ***** that they have traded map already and epsilon can see what piffle already have.

And if we're about to go to war with Piffle, it doesn't make sense to do any trading with their best friends. I'd make up some excuse to not go through with the trade. Either that, or we should stall the trade and just act like we are negotiating until our units land to take what we want for free.

I wouldn't tell them that either, just say the deal doesn't work for us much in the way they said they were not interested in Music before we even offered it. Just say we are not interested in buying philo.

We at Aloha we're very intrigued by your proposed deal however we must pass on the philosophy one as we are simply not interested right now in obtaining it, maybe if you had something else to offer?

About the open borders thing, we would prefer that scouting units (such as galleys etc) are allowed to pass through otherwise we see no real benefit in having open borders as we know where enough cities are to not require more cities to trade with.

Let them rot. I agree we need to talk to Innovia and see if they are getting those same messages. We also need to see if we can solidify our bond with Innovia. I think we should think about the possibility of overing them some sort of long term deal...say we offer a non-agrressive pact till 3 teams or left or a 10-15 turn warning. That would allow us to focus all our defense and worries in one direction and give us a good strong allie. make sure to stress its only a non-agrression pact not a mutual defensive pact. Its time to start playing "lets make a deal".
