This is my tech tree for my mod I am working on. Excuse some of the sloppy patchwork, I just had an hour to piece it together and put it up.

I would be interested in discussing my ideas and technological connections with anyone.

Ummm... Could you put that in a spoiler?

It seems overdone at the beginning. And the first two rows seem like stone-age techs. They had been discovered waaay before the first cities and large populations.

And why is Iron Ships on the same row as horseback riding? And ummmm... is radar before alphabet?

Also, I think there are too many religions. This is a complaint I have with many mods. I agree with firaxis about seven being the ideal number.

Iron Ship and RADAR are probably in that position to make a nice line. However, as you can see, Iron Ship requires Steam Power.

This looks like a good tech tree! I have been looking for a mod like this for a while now, long before i joined! Can't wait for you to finish the mod! One thing you could fix is the Iron Ship tech and RADAR tech being so far back. I understand it looks neater that way but us there a chance you could move it foward to their appropriate eras?

That makes a new definition of 'crammed' and 'narcissistic'.

Forgive my rudeness, it's really hot here and I've just been yelled at a lot.

It is pretty impressive. But I'm an advocate of small mods. Mods that balance stuff out, add some new functionality, but don't add so much that the player is drowned in information.

Wow, I just stumbled across my own threads with all these great conversations going on and I never realized it. I am not sure what planet I was on when this was going on, but thanks everyone for the feedback.

As for the general layout, although certain techs appear to be in the same column, by the definition of their requirements and cost they are not. Alphabet and Sonar are separated by hundreds of turns even though they are graphically near each other.

I just started working on this mods update and will post something very soon. I have also changed the name of the mod so that it is not confused with my other recent mod expansion, Extreme2.

My friends and I love to be drowned liberally in technology and units. Our motto is, "if you can add 2 new models why not add 20!" This mod is chock full of so many things it is impossible to detail them all -- not for the meek!

True perfection is not achieved when there is nothing left to add, but nothing left to take away.-Antione Saint-Exupery

While I agree with the criticism of this mod, I see little point in whining about something that is at the core of what the mod's ethos is. If you don't want an extreme mod, well you should probably look elsewhere for your kicks, not?

Since there is a great host of mods out there, isn't it good that this one fills out its particular niche? It is developed for an actual audience, after all. So if the targeted players are happy with it, what is there to bash? And most importantly - the modder seems to enjoy working on it, and that alone justifies its existence and further development. Its not like he is forcing anyone to use it, or anything. Creativity - even if it involves scavenging for bits'n'pieces of other people's work - is its own reward. Well, that's how I see it anyway.

Doesn't mean that I disagree with Saint-Exupery, though.

I have updated the tech tree further since I last posted the original. The current tech tree is three times larger than the old and in the actual game you scroll both up and down and left and right. This is just the first pane of the tech tree:
