President Dario Lupi is visiting Tunisia and is campaigning across the country. He has already held more than ten rallies and has spoken with Imams and visited Mosques. He has appointed a team of young, educated Tunisians to head the referendum campaign in Tunisia. Aside from that, he has mobilized activists of the Social Democrats party to give leaflets to Tunisian residents and talk with them about the benefits of unity with Italy.

Dario Lupi, in a recent interview in the most popular channel in Tunisia, made his case for the unity of Tunisian with Italy:

Italians and Tunisians share a long history together. Our peoples, our culture, our environment are all very similar. Italy saw that Tunisia was being plagued by lawfulness and anarchy and intervened in order to ensure that stability and peace could be restored. Italians and Tunisians are brothers. Italy is a democratic nation and does not believe in imperialism; that is the reason why we Italians ask you through a free and fair referendum to decide your future. I ask you to vote for the unity with Italy so that we can cooperate in building a secure and stable future for our children. As part of Italy:
  1. All Tunisians will have Italian citizenship, voting rights and all the benefits, including welfare ones, that Italian citizens enjoy.
  2. 20 seats in the Italian Parliament shall be reserved for Tunisian MPs in order to give fair representation to the Tunisian people in Italian politics. In matter concerning Tunisia only, only Tunisian MPs will have the right to vote. As such, there is no fear of Italian MPs dominating Tunisian issues.
  3. Tunisia will have autonomy; its local government will have extensive responsibilities over education, culture and local matters. Arabic will be the language taught in local schools and Tunisian national identity shall be preserved.
  4. Union with Italy means that Tunisians will be able to migrate in other parts of Mainland Italy and find jobs or education there. There will be free movement of peoples.
  5. The Italian parliament shall legislate anti-discrimination laws and promote tolerance and respect for everyone.
  6. The Italian government shall invest billions into an infrastructure project, including construction of new bridges, roads, etch, which shall both provide jobs for thousands of Tunisians and shall bring the region to the same level of prosperity as Mainland Italy.
On the other hand, if Tunisia goes on its own, I am afraid that chaos will ensue:
  1. The region will not see a multi-billion investment project into infrastructure.
  2. Tunisians will not be able to freely move to Italy without passport and visa and as such will have less chances of finding a job or education in Italy.
  3. Tunisians will not enjoy the welfare benefits that Italians enjoy; such as universal healthcare, unemployment benefits, aid to the poorest, etch
  4. Tunisian will not have the military protection of Italy which will defend the region.
  5. There will be instability and chaos in the region.
I hope that Tunisians will vote for Stability and Unity. For Investments, Welfare, Free Movement of People and Jobs.

WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER!

VOTE YES!

Government of Cyprus refutes Italian estimation of what happens when Tunisia is independent.

  1. The region will not see a multi-billion investment project into infrastructure. Yes it will, from the African states.
  2. Tunisians will not be able to freely move to Italy without passport and visa and as such will have less chances of finding a job or education in Italy. Would not matter, as many other nations, including Cyprus is open to receiving Tunisian workers and families.
  3. Tunisians will not enjoy the welfare benefits that Italians enjoy; such as universal healthcare, unemployment benefits, aid to the poorest, etch the independent country of tunisia, heavily invested in by other african countries will get those benefits anyway.
  4. Tunisian will not have the military protection of Italy which will defend the region. Tunisia will get the military protection of *all* Africa, which comfortably outproduces anything Italy puts out.
  5. There will be instability and chaos in the region. there would be no chaos of instability in the region if Tunis leaves italy, as there would be no reason for things to be unstable.

The Sanctuary Republics would like to apply for membership in the Global Democratic Trade and Defense Group.

Your membership application has been received and is being voted on.

In related news, the following amendment to the GDTDG was proposed and ratified:

Section Nine - Military Associate Members

1. Military associate members are partial members of GDTDG who are not required to uphold Section 8.1 of the Constitution.
2. Military associate members are not considered part of the trade group for game purposes.
3. Military associate members cannot be elected to the position of Group Chair.
4. Military associate members are free to join other trade groups if their position on said trade groups do not put them in direct conflict with the goals and constitution of GDTDG.
5. Military associate members retain all other responsibilities and powers of full members including but not limited to the ability to propose and vote in GDTDG votes, access to the Discord and mutual defence pacts with all members.
6. Normal members may demote themselves to become military associate members at any time, but to be upgraded to full members they must be approved by unanimous vote as described in Section 4.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has demoted themselves to a Military Associate Member, allowing them to participate in both TCIS and GDTDG without conflict.

The government of Italy does not accept the meddling of other nations in internal affairs of Italy. Only Italians and Tunisians are able to campaign for the referendum. We do not accept governments from other nations propagating their positions in Italy. As such no Cyprian citizens or government delegates are allowed into Tunisia. Same goes with any other government that attempts to subvert our democracy.

Italy will not allow Cyprian fake news and meddling into our election.

The united cilvilian governments compromising the SPA would like to assuage Italy's fears.
1. It will not see one come from Italy. Joining the SPA, however, would ensure cooperative industrial and infrastructural investments not only into trans-saharan transport, but also into making the desert more liveable, one step at a time.
2. Tunisians may not be able to move freely to Italy, however they will, as a SPA member state, enjoy close trade connections with other SPA members, and will thus also benefit from such programs as the Sidi Yahya University Exchange program or the Common African Work Scheme.
3. Whether an independent Tunisian state within the SPA would receive universal healthcare or unemployment benefits is, ultimately, up to the Tunisian state itself. Several countries within the SPA do have universal healthcare, however, and membership in the SPA means that one is entitled to, at the very least, free coverage within any SPA member state.
4. Tunisia is a proud state with proud history. Rather than a patronizing "protection" program, membership in the SPA would give Tunisia a unique position with which it not only develops it's own tactics suited uniquely to a Tunisian state, but receives aid to do so from the SPA as a whole. Rather a full member of a military alliance than a bridgehead that will be given up the moment Italy has no more interest in Africa.
5. The SPA has worked tirelessly in the past few years to make Africa a stable, peaceful area. In these endeavours, it has been mostly successful. With future cooperation planned with other African nations, it would be wiser to be fully part of a stable peaceful continent that half-heartedly part of a country on a chaotic continent.

President Dario Lupi has met with Imams and visited another Mosque. He has said that, "Italy is in the forefront in the fight against the menace of Islamophobia, racism and intolerance. Islam is the religion of peace. Italy has a long history with both Tunisians and Islam; Sicily was Islamic for centuries. I am glad that Tunisian Imams and Mosques support the cause of international cooperation instead of xenophobic far right nationalism."

The President also decried what he called "far right agitators" who are "against cooperation and unity". He said, "the majority of Tunisians, as the referendum shall prove, support the Union with Italy. There is only a small minority, funded by foreign governments, of extremist far right nationalists and Islamist radicals who oppose the union. With union with Italy, Tunisia shall move forward towards a social democratic future. Tunisian children will be schooled in newly build schools, new roads and bridges shall be constructed, thousands new jobs shall be created, Tunisian students shall study in the top universities of Italy, Tunisians will be able to find employment in Italy. There will be stability and jobs."

Most Mosques have declared their support for the cause of unity as the President has promised both funds for Islamic studies and preservation of Islamic culture heritage and has also shown great respect towards the religious leadership of the Tunisians.

The insinuation that the Sahel Protection Alliance is an extremist islamic state is not only preposterous, it is highly insulting. It is clear to us that Italy has no intention of seeing African states as equals now.

Italy never named Sahel as an extremist Islamic state. You can check the statements of our President. Unless, of course, you assume that you are the foreign government meddling in our referendum.

Republic of Cyprus news:

the Muslim community is outraged at italy, for labeling an entire side as far right nationalists, and radical muslims, effectively dismissing all of their concerns. the muslim community of Cyprus, which comprises of roughly half the nation, is disgusted with Italy, and demands that Italy withdraw those statements, and give a fair representation to Both sides.

It was assumed that the Italian President would, given our interests in keeping Africa free of neocolonialism, instantly accuse us of nationalism, terrorism and meddling.
However, if the government of Italy decides to unfairly meddle in Tunisian affairs now, e.g. by funding unionists and cowering moderate naturalists, we will act in kind.

Italy fails to see how our comments have in any way enraged Muslims in Cyprus. To quote our President's speech:

"Italy is in the forefront in the fight against the menace of Islamophobia, racism and intolerance. Islam is the religion of peace. Italy has a long history with both Tunisians and Islam; Sicily was Islamic for centuries. I am glad that Tunisian Imams and Mosques support the cause of international cooperation instead of xenophobic far right nationalism."

The President has also declared his intention to fund Islamic studies and preserve Islamic culture. If anything, he is in the forefront in the fight against Islamophobia. Do not confuse our condemnation of a few Islamist extremists who do not represent Islam with the majority of Muslims. That is true Islamophobia.

Italy also does not accept any meddling of Sahel into the referendum. As we've said, only residents of Tunisia and Italians can campaign. We do not accept meddling of foreign agents in an internal Italian referendum.

The only ones who are scared are you. We are the ones who decided to hold a referendum and accepted international observers, including from Sahel.

EDIT:

The result of the referendum will be decided by the majority of votes (50% + 1), not by delegates. The people should decide for their future, not some kind of electoral college.

We aren't scared, and we know the Tunisians will make the right decision without Italian interference.
And a delegation is an administrative division of Tunisia. If you were in any way remotely interested in the wellbeing of Tunisia, you'd have known this.

The Tunisians will make their own choice. We are sure that they will choose a social democratic future instead of listening to the sirens of populists and far right nationalists.

It should be noted that the President's team for the campaign in favor of unity is staffed entirely with young, educated Tunisians. Half of the team is staffed by women to ensure that the women of Tunisia have representation. We have chosen people who know the local issues and are educated in the best universities.

EDIT: We were not referring to delegations (administrative units) .

It should be, yet again, pointed out that nationalism may not necessarily be far-right. There are plenty of nationalist parties within the SPA, not all of them far right. The Tunisian social democratic future need not lie under an Italian jackboot.

Daily reminder the referendum in itself is a farce; elections are a tool of the Babylonians to desensitize and misguide mankind towards a lifestyle away from Jah. This election has been bought from the start by the greedy clutches of the white devil. Italy would never give up power over their new colonial subjects willingly. Freedom against colonialism can only be gained through organized resistance.

We now return to Sahel and Italy continuously lobbing crapposts at each other while the rest of the world shakes their heads in disgrace.

There is no Italian jackboot. There will be local autonomy, representation in parliament, citizenship rights, voting rights, investment, etch. I do not see how a Tunisian union with Italy is colonialism but an annexation of Tunisia by SPA is not colonialism.

The sad truth is that a large part of nationalists are far right, xenophobic, uneducated, deplorable bigots. We are sad to see the SPA support bigotry and deplorable ideas. We are supporting a future of international cooperation, democratic socialism, multiculturalism and exchange of ideas. Nationalists want isolationism, fascism, discrimination and censorship.

The TXG announces militant neutrality in the ongoing dispute. Any attempts to do something one way or the other will receive a cursory look of disapproval from a specially appointed ambassador for the purpose of this.

That is all.
