The chat log link is fixed and available for download from either the Turn Chat Instruction thread or here (Chat Log from 11-Jan-2003). Again, I apologize for the error in my link. It was most certainly unintentional.

Rest assured that the chat log is complete from the moment I logged on before the chat was scheduled to start, until the moment we finally ended the chat and uploaded the save and chat log. If you have any problems or questions, please feel free to PM or e-mail me at your convenience and I will do my best to help you.

Thank you for correcting the file name, 40J. It was, indeed, a good chat log. With all of the mis-steps we've seen by leaders of late, I was worried that today's t/c, being one of the very few that I have missed, would not have a chat log for me to read. Then when I read that the t/c was cancelled at the end of pre-turn because our informational system had broken down again, I REALLY felt the need to find out what was going on. To make it worse, I couldn't sign on to the chatroom, no matter how long I waited. I figured the longer it went before I got an answer to my questions, the more probable it was that the chat log would be lost. I couldn't believe that with all the bopping around you were doing in the sub-forums, you hadn't seen my questions.

Chat logs and saves are like milk-blood to a few uf us, 40J. Please check your links after you post them. Thanks again.

The messenger carrying Lord Grandmaster's dagger to the Marillion is the same one being given an escort down the Halls of the Palace to an audience with 40J, the President of Fanatika. Although the words spoken are few, the hand-delivered scroll is the key to the audience. After handing the scroll to the President, the messenger excuses himself and leaves. 40J knows the messenger as Cyc's. It is the only way the man could have gotten past all those guards.

The President eyes the rolled piece of semi-rigid cowhide that has been slipped through a cylindrical brass collar. He smiles and shakes his head, "Leave it to Cyc".

Slipping off the collar, the scroll reveals a very smooth surface of blonde leather with a message written in reddish ink:

Mr. President,
I would be honored to participate in compiling Prince Shaitan's biography. You may rely on my recollections of the man as far back as when he was seemingly a boy. If Shaitan was ever that young ;) .

I am also very honored that this work may be the first publication on your new Printing Press.Truly, an historical landmark. I will buy many copies of this work to donate to Libraries and give to young school children learning the ways of Fanatika.

And alas, I too shall run my flags at half-mast on the ides of each month, in honor of Prince Shaitan. A fitting tribute to our late President.

A concerned voter, :)

Mr. President,

We can equip 26 of our 46 knights with muskets for a cost of 520g. We currently have 595g and a surplus of 84gpt. Please try to get these new weapons for our knights right away so that we can destroy our enemies!

On a different note, I wish to go on record as being against building the military academy in Bremershaven at this time. That city is recruiting cavalry regiments every five turns and we should not interrupt this important war effort.

Thank you,
donsig
Governor of the Southwest Province

I agree that the academy should not be built at this time. I'd prefer to see defensive units coming out of Bremers though. We've got plenty of offense lying around but our defense is stretched very tightly.

State of the Realm Address

Fellow Fanatikans, I come before you today to report on the current state of our kingdom.

Over the past term, we have fallen victim to acts of treachery the likes of which we have never before witnessed. Sneak attacks by India and then Babylon left the future of Fanatika hanging in the balance, yet we perservered. We have removed the Indian menace from our lands and we have pushed them to the very brink of extinction. Babylon also is paying dearly for their treachery. Our production continues to increase and we have accomplished technological parity with our rivals. Fellow Fanatikans, the state of our kingdom is strong!

Our forces in Babylon have successfully pillaged their source of Saltpeter and have begun targeting any Babylonian cavalry units left in the open. We should also consider pillaging all roads from luxuries & resources to the Babylonian capitol, thereby eliminating their trading income/economy. Furthermore, as soon as our alliances against Babylon end, we should begin exploring the possibility of extorting their knowledge.

Greece has discovered Steam Power and we should acquire this technology sooner rather than later. We have a plethora of workers waiting to build railroads, and our country cries out for the added productivity that improvement brings. We may need to pay the exorbitant price Greece will no doubt demand if we cannot extort it from Babylon.

If we are able to fish out another Great Leader from the fighting taking place in Babylon, we should consider rushing another Great Wonder. Scientific advances (Newton's University or ToE) would most certainly usher in our Golden Age, so we should think carefully before jumping on one of those. Universal Suffrage would be an excellent wonder to keep the peace in our vast empire under a more productive form of government (ie. Republic or Democracy). Either way, I believe we should start a prebuild for possibly the most powerful wonder of this era, Hoover Dam, suggested to me by one of my aides and appropriately named after him. ;)

In summary, Fanatika is standing tall and is poised to catapult itself into a position of world dominance during the upcoming term. I encourage all citizens to take part in this great adventure.

@FortyJ - I noticed your posts in the various government threads regarding a chat early in the next term. That is incorrect. Unforutnately, at the end of Term 3 the Judiciary ruled that Presidential plans and actions (specifically the turn chat schedule) are invalid when another President takes office. The same would apply to Leaders. Any plans or instructions they make will stop at the end of the current term.

True... Because of that decision you mentioned, I purposefully did not schedule a chat for Saturday as it would fall outside the current term, but when the new president takes office, are they not responsible for posting a new schedule?

It would be a shame to waste the weekend and not get anything accomplished.

Whatever happened to the "If there are no chats scheduled, the ones from the previous week carry over" rule?

So the new leader gets to pick the turn chat date? But, what about the "dates must be for the following week"? That means it'll be 1 week with no turns played.

Not entirely CT... The rules can work in your favor too. You are responsible for posting a schedule upon being sworn in (so to speak...). I don't think there's anything that prevents the new President from scheduling one immediately, provided there is sufficient instruction from the various leaders (who can, naturally, pick up right where the previous leaders left off).
