TF, please show us some site statistics

BTW it says in the rules that everyone agrees that its not intresting to look at a sig. with more then 5 lines. I don't agree with that:( or do I not count? Because I like looking at the mod makes sig.'s

No, you don't count. There's only one opinion that actually matters here.

I'll give you a clue: Its not yours. :p

We get about 10K unique visitors a day and around 2 million page views a month. :)

I don't know how much traffic Poly has nowadays, because they no longer use HitBox for site stats. My guess is they probably have more traffic than us, because they also cover newer games such as Rise of Nations and Galatica Civilization.

"The number of total bozos with signatures that exceed the simple and easy to understand 5 line limit set in the site rule, has tripled in the past week." ;)

I take it my sig looks a bit long on any screen smaller with 1280*1024. :p

Whats a unique visitor?
Does that meant that there are 10k different people looking at the site or that the site has been accessed 10k times a day?

Here's a thought I had today. How about a inter-site civ tournament?
Each site has 2 or more players and each player is a seperate civ and the different civs form the same site work together to beat the civs form the other site.

You mean like the Multisite Demogame? ;) It's kind of like that, though. But, the MSDG takes a really long time to complete.

A question I've been meaning to ask...

How in the world can you have an inter-site war? The thought of the members of two different forums having strong feelings against each other and forming a sense of hostility between each other is beyond me... I mean, why can't we just talk about how we're better than Apolyton (or someone else), let the Apolytoners talk about how their site is surperior, and let that be that? Obviously if you frequent one forum more than another of the same kind, you like it more, and keeping that secret seems strange. I can understand forbidding against someone repeatedly posting in our Site Feedback forum about how this site sucks and Apolyton is better, but why can't someone say, "Man, I sure do prefer the layout of this site, as opposed to Apolyton," "Gee, the people here are a lot nicer than Apolytoners," etc.?

Of course, I guess expressing your feelings about one site being better than the other is pretty much pointless anyway.

WillJ, actually, many posters here are also posters at Poly. I have an account there, so does TF, so do many others. Ming, the Poly OT mod, has been known to post here, also. Many other Apolytoners visit here, as well. An inter-site war starts when one site starts flaming another, and members of the second site who read the first site report back, and it just grows. It can turn into things like "OK, everybody log on to the Poly OT and spam the heck out of it." Definitely not the kind of crap we need to deal with.

TF wants this to be a civilized site. You can say you like CFC better than Poly, but what would be the point, really? Obviously you like the site or you wouldn't be here.

Actually, a long while back Ming had a thread here about the differences between the sites. It was done politely, and most, if not all, the respondents were quite civil in it. It was generally agreed that the "atmosphere" was different at each site, and people simply gravitated toward whichever one they preferred.

Well, that's one of the strangest things I've ever heard, dedicating time to organize a mass-spamming/flaming on another site.

But whatever the case, you're right that talking about how much this site is better than the others is pointless anyway, and I guess TF's policy of not letting that get overboard makes sense.

But isn't it an undeniable fact that we're number one? :king:

Smiley-only posts are not allowed. Smilies are meant to support your worded posts; not replace them. One or two-worded posts are also heavily frowned upon.
These are bad. They are spam. They hog server resources. They make me feel mean, evil and cranky. You do not want me to feel mean, evil and cranky.

:p

Mwhahahaha, I've tricked a mod into breaking the rules! Well, technically it's only listed in the OT forum, but I always thought it was interforal....

Moi? Spam? Never! (Well, hardly ever.... ;) )

And yes, that is specific to OT. It is generally frowned upon elsewhere, but sometimes (rarely), the best response can be a simple smiley. ;) Besides, I at least quoted what I was grinning about. :D

Each time Firaxis releases an expansion pack to Civ3 the average age of the new players drops by 18 to 24 months. If the current trend continues, we may see Atari enter into a cooperative agreement with PlaySchool to market the 6th Civ3 expansion pack in 2006. Civfanatics will have to engage the COPPA user functions in order to maintain our Good Housekeeping seal of approval. ;)

Pleasant. I look forward to when CFC meets its demise when Atari shifts to the younger crowd and COPPA kicks in. Perhaps, to weather down the blow, we should start covering other games?
