TF2 (split from screenshots thread)

likely... however I take the Jedi approach and hate shooting things due to its lack of finese

Looks like the demoman will be my new main class when the other team is too paranoid to make spying feasable

I tried airblast but his sword has an invisible half. It's twice as long as it looks. He killed me in the middle of airblasting him...

Melee is kind of broken at times. Or feels like it.

Finally we got sick of waiting and all three of us started stabbing him in the front... I later nicknamed the guy Caesar

Three spies sounds a bit excessive even on a 32 man server.

My favourite spy moments is when they stand in a corner in a disguise. Obviously just standing there doesn't look suspicious at all.

All you need to do is pick up a good scout disguise and rush into the group of enemies from behind. Usually, they'll either be too stupid or too concerned with the fight at hand to notice, and you can pick up a few quick backstabs.

If a pyro loses to anyone in melee his pyro badge should be taken away and he should sit in the corner. Airblast + axtinguisher absolutely rapes sword demos.

As for engies, learn to use your shotgun, if he's good enough to get direct pills on you you never had a chance against your counter class anyway, what difference is it how he does it.

I don't know why but all this spy talk just reminded me of an awesome kill made by myself and two other spies

there was one sniper in a room with three spies all disguised as snipers as well, he wouldn't turn his back to us but judging by the lack of bullet holes in us he didn't figure out we were spies.

Finally we got sick of waiting and all three of us started stabbing him in the front... I later nicknamed the guy Caesar

I would have just shot him with my revolver...

If you can actually aim with it you can kill pretty well any sniper before they know whats happening

Just been playing with the new weapons - lots of fun!

Targe + sword is great fun, but nobody really seems to achieve anything very much with it - the kills you get from the sword tend to be where it doesn't matter so much, and the loss of health is fairly nasty. So you have to be actively using the sword a fair bit for it to be worthwhile. It's awesome for charging in at a bunch of guys (e.g. round a cart) that've just received the attentions of a friendly pyro though. Also the new soldier equaliser seems to beat it in a fight since the amount of health you've got after a charge is just enough to make the thing lethal as hell. Shotty works nicely too.

Targe + bottle is really nice, though. Not that I used the bottle much but the protection and the health together is a pretty tough combo to kill. The rush is still awesome too - very nice for quickly getting out of trouble (even more unkillable!), and for charging past trouble to push a cart/cp that final distance. Also for just charging a guy and pipebombing them from up close. They don't expect it (!), it makes it much easier to hit them (especially if they're running away), and with the explosion resistance, you don't seem to hurt yourself much. Sucks about the lack of stickies though - have to actually learn to aim the gren launcher! But I find I'm still not completely useless vs sentries since I can survive a lot more fire and explosive spam while angling pipes round the corner at them.

Dunno about the scottish resistance though - I like the theory (especially the enemy sticky destruction) but its just a bit awkward to use.

Soldier ones are really cool too - tend to favour a higher-calibre soldier than me though I think. I couldn't live without the soldier's shotty as a finisher!
But I've seen those videos of the really amazingly skilled soldiers, and I shudder to think what they could accomplish with the new gear....

I think I like being the engineer more than the sniper.

I've found out recently I'm only good at the boring classes(aka support) Ok, not too boring, sniper is fun, spy can be fun, medic is pretty much just if my team is being annihilated and we need some help. Anything else I'm mediocre at best unfortunately, and these new weapons don't help.

wait a while, then everyone will start playing normally. the chargin targe/sword isn't worth the loss of health and sticky launcher. as for the soldier, i predict most people will continue to hang on to the direct hit, but the best pub soldiers will go back to the regular rocket launcher. splash damage is too valuable (competitive soldiers might run one with each, one pocket one roaming - their aim is good enough that the reduction in splash damage might not be too crippling).

as for the support classes, don't be ashamed about it. i main medic, spy and pyro these days - the gameplay is a lot more varied and therefore fun. i can switch to soldier of demoman and get a few quick points, but i don't enjoy them as much. and medic is by far the most useful class.

Indeed. Medic and Spy have a place in pretty much every match. I've started to play as Medic a lot more often and its one of the most helpful classes for the team. That and a good medic is a complete point whore.

can't remember the last time i played medic and didn't top the team... they can get so many points from just healing, when you take into account assists and ubers, they whore points like maniacs ;)

oh yeah on the update:

Direct Hit is fun and very very strong, it makes airshots very easy. me and the other soldier switched roles so he would be roaming soldier, take height and take down anyone with the direct hit
on pub play it's easier to go normal launcher cause half of the soldiers on pubs can't aim.
i go bugle becuase its so much credit, but i stick with regular launcher cause my splash will do an enormous amount of damage. I killed a combo in one rocket cause of the minicrit splash on my own

i love the bugle a lot, but it's not suited well for uncoordinated teams.

equaliser is OP. no doubt about it. i get to mid faster on granary then our demo and as fast as our scouts. this is really crazy. i jsut hurt myself to 40hp aprox and run to mid and switch when the healing ratio has changed to 72dmgps instead of the normal 24dmgps

the highlander demo thingy is great for pubs, but scouts just eat them in any serious setting
the scottish resistance is fun but terribly broken now with the airdets.

1000 Demo kills? I'm convinced absolutely no farming took place there. :mischief:

i actually got at around 1100 approx when it ended :D

and if you mean killing a lot of poeple trying demo during the update while you got 300+ hours as soldier with a medic, yeah, you can consider that farming :mischief:

On the server I play on decent medics will be near the top of the scoreboard but it will be often be another class that tops the round leaderboard and the overall leaderboard.
