TF2 (split from screenshots thread)

Not sure why you cant find me on Steam. Promise I am there.

Been playing mostly on the -Q- clan servers out of Seattle. I have a very low ping to them.

Been learning the newer maps and different modes of play. I kind of like the idea of the 'push' maps like Goldrush. Not sure if I like KotH maps yet or not....seems like most of those are pwnage one way or another and not close at all.

One question I had of the players here is 'do you use scripts'?

Because I currently dont, but I could see where being able to do x, y, and z in order quickly would be of a huge benefit with a macro. For example, the spy being able to sap a sentry gun and then immedialy switch to a weapon to kill the engie.

So do you use scripts at all? And if so, your advice in regards to them?

I know some people who use rocket jump scripts to make sure they get the jump perfect every time. I'd say that's probably the only situation where I'd say it's useful to use a script in TF2. The stab'n'sap on the engi is quite easy to perform without a script, and has too many variables for the script to work out well.

Macros are cheating

No, they aren't.

No, and its never occurred to me to try them. I can do without them just fine.

Scripts are for people who can't play but aren't using hacks.

No, they aren't.

Yes, they are (exception being if you're goofing off or making machinima), I see no reason to use most of them in normal situations when it is easy enough to do it without unnecessary help. And if you can't then you need to practice.

As I already said, a perfect rocket jump script is very handy to have, but apart from that there isn't really any need for scripts in tf2.

fixed.

practice. get better. skills, not bots, macros, and other semi-hacks -.-

If you lose a comp match because you fail a rocket jump, you might change your mind.

neh, if i can recall correctly, you can't use any scripts in cevo or esea and i think Twl as well. since i play in twl, i don't use any scripts and i don't need to.

i spend a lot of time in practicing the badlands and granary basic and advanced jumps, and it works out well. but yeah losing a match on gravelpit cause you failed to do the jump to C (like the one on the right side which involves a walljump) really feels bad.

but neh, i dont bother with it and i think it's not that usefull anyways cause i guess it would interfere with airstrafing.

I haven't played comp tf2 for ages, so I guess my knowledge of the rules and regulations of comp tf2 are a little sketchy.

But how would they detect scripting? Do they use cmn for TF2 cevo?

there is a bad apple client you need for certain leagues which also auto-records demos (kinda like p-rec) and checks for any scripts in the cfg files.

i do know they are kinda easy on it for medic though. cause i know a former medic in twl using certain scripts, but not stuff like automated uberpop or anything. it could also have been a part of the custom hud and setup though. Then again for twl you only need to record a demo. I think they are way more strict in esea.

I have no idea what cevo/esea or Twl is. Please explain.

they are various competitive tf2 leagues.

as for the whole "to script or not to script" debate, the only scripts i use are on engi, so i can take out a sentry/dispenser/tele with one key press rather than two. oh, and i also use a crouch jump script cause i'm not sure why i'd ever want to not crouch jump

Well, I decided to play as a medic last night since I got the kritzkreig (?) for him the other night.

Man, being a medic is an easy way to rack up points. If I play any other class I am usually a middle of the pack guy, but as a medic I was #1 on my team while playing on Badlands last night.

I even managed to get a few kills with my bone saw as guys came running at me. And in the last few minutes of the match also got the bone saw upgrade to drop for me as well.

Perhaps I will be playing medic for a bit then. Was kind of fun.

The Kritzkreig is only usefull if your team has a good sizable amount of Soldiers, Demomen, and Heavies. Double good if there are any good demomen and soldiers to Kritz. Most of the time, the regular Uber when there arent that many soldiers and demomen to go around (Who'd wanna Kritz an engie or a scout?)

If you love the bonesaw, then you'd love the ubersaw when you get it. I mainly use it to smack the snot out of enemy spies trying to backstab me or my paitent. Don't like the blutslauger after they nerfed it to reduce the self healing rate from 3-6 to 1-4.

Hey I scrimmed philippe tonight, small world :D
