The 19th Century Europe Mod

I like the idea of leaving it wide open as well. Let the players figure out the wars, and rewrite history.
agreed, other scenarios are for reliving history.

I'm not sure that the United States must be represented. The scenario starts in 1835, so there's no garuntee that WWI as we know it will happen. I'm going to leave out war events, letting the players/AI decide when and where to go to war.
That sounds like the best plan. Let war-specific scenarios like World War I and World War II scenarios have war-specific events. This seems to be more of a scenario where you lead your nation-state on a path of your choosing. I like that.

I like the idea of many minor random events that will alter gameplay slightly, just minor bonuses and penalties, like a city riots, barbarians do/do not like you suddenly, random peacetime affects and wartime events.

Yeah, this is more about the 19th century, I think. There's a LOT of huge changes in the world in the early 20th century (new nations, rebellions, wars) that are interesting, but should probably be ignored since they would be at the "end" of the mod.

Besides, Finland is really small in this map. If the vast majority of the nation-states in the Balkans are going to be minor nations that pop up late in the game, Finland probably won't be any better. Their significance was limited in this time period.

Yup... no Finland.

There's really not a lot to be done. I did some minor graphics changes this week when I had some time. Buildings, resources (VERY tedious editing of GameFonts.tga), leaders, leaderheads, the important events, and the initial layout of the scenario are all that is left. Hopefully I'll have a beta out by early or mid September.

I'm going out of town for the week, as my wife and I are finally taking our honeymoon vacation. So, no progress for a while...

Congratulations and relax for a bit.

Looking forward to seeing the final result.

Congradulations, that's awesome.
I also cannot wait until what happens next.

Congratulations and enjoy the vacation. Relax and have yourself the fun.

It's bumping time!

Hows the mod coming

I just got back into town. I'll be extremely busy starting next week (ah... the life of a graduate student), so I'll continue working on it, but the progress will be a bit (read: a lot) slower. That said, there isn't that much left to do, so I'm thinking a beta version will be out sometime next month.

If anybody would like to help this progress a long quicker and can do some nice Building Icon Graphics, let me know asap.

I can certainly search for images and get some stuff started, what do you need specifically?

Hope you'll make it for Warlords soon. :)
I think that would be more of a job for us, the modding community, I don't believe Arbitrary is going to be getting Warlords, so we'll have to put forth a bit of work ourselves.

No problem though, we've got a great pool to draw from.
