The Alexander the Great Project!

Here is a blend and a nif for you. I also put in the blend before I added pericles' belt in case you didnt' like it. If you don't want the belt on the model you should extend the torso down a bit so you can get a full image of him holding the helmet in the screen shot. You might want to do this even with the belt on anyway.

I left it relatively unattached at this point so you can move things around and resize them when you rig it, I figured this would be better so its easier to fit it to the skeleton (as this is largely based on Napoleon's skeleton) and you can move the arms and everything around easily.

I wasn't sure what to do about the texturing, but I put all of the appropriate textures in there so you have a reference or something, I don't know anything about texturing so that may not make sense.

Anyway here are the files and I also provided a screen shot of what it looks like...

I just thought of something; is there any possibility of getting those birds that fly past the opening screen of Beyond the Sword in the background?

I think it would be a cool and unique background feature and would give life to the LH. I got the idea from the movie how there's always an eagle flying around.

maybe if teh main menu nif works the same as a GB nif then probably. I'll have to look into it - but rigging looks like it will keep me busy for awhile

Don't worry about it Ekmek, take your time with the rigging. I'll look into the bg thing.

EDIT: I think its possible actually, I just looked at it and the birds appear to be part of the sky background. If there is a way to integrate that into the LH (which I am pretty sure is possible) it should be relatively easy. Although I've never done anything like that so I'd need a tutorial and of course a background to work with.

This LH will obviously create one issue though; what do we do with the old Alex? Well I've found a website that has a pretty concise list of some ancient Greek leaders that we can use the old LH for. CHECK IT OUT while Ekmek does the hard stuff...

Cool! Reminds me of Civ1!

what the hell was that about?

anyways rigging is going better than expected! Here is alexander with Zara's annoyed animation (need to rig the sleeves andhands too and yes i haven't colored the eyes yet)

EDIT: added blue eye texture and new sleeve texture replacing the dots with Vergina stars

That is pretty awesome. I know I came in too late to this discussion to actually be able to give any valuable input, but I think the face should be shorter/younger and the hair should be longer. However, this is fine as is.

I vote for Pyrrhus - but I'd still remove the laurels they come across as too Roman (though they came from Greek atheletes IIRC)

looking really, REALLY good!!:goodjob:

Ekmek.....r u doing the rigging in blender or nifskope?.....either way, there would be no problem with making him younger...i found a good base to work with.....if u pass on the blend, i would be happy to make the hair a little longer, possibly make minor changes to shape, but ONLY as long as it wont affect your rigging....oh, whats going on with the neck?

thx bernie. i fixed up the neck and have done more rigging (all in blender). rigging is mostly done but i still ned to reassign some face muscles. and the hand goes into the chest on the greeting. hopefully coyote can tweak that. i should be able to get you a blend & game-playable nif Iif needed) in the next day or so

I have what most people call a "drinking problem."

Good to hear everything is working out well. It looks really good. I think ultimately the sleeves should be white, I just put in the texture from Cunne Shote or whatever from Colonization, nothing on the model has been retextured so hopefully Bernie can polish him up and make him look glorious. I'll try and look into getting the birds to fly accross the background in the next couple of days.

great....i dont really need the nif, just the blend

Alright, this is what the main menu BG looks like in NifSkope. Its hard to see the little birds but they are those black spots towards the right side around the red line. There is also a glare/sunlight thing we should use too. I'm wondering how I would go about adding the birds and that glare to a background. I think that would be a cool effect on this leaderhead. If we made him like awash in sunlight with birds flying in the background I think that would give it a cool look and it would accent his blonde hair, his helmet and whatever awesome texture I'm sure Bernie will whip up. What do you guys think of this idea and does anyone know how possible/easy/difficult this is?
