The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

Excellent news. Now Let me ask a question on Installation.
If I read this correctly, I install this mod to the civ3\civ3(conquests I assume, not ptw)\scenarios folder. Can I just drag the file into that folder and it will work? Will it affect the other scenarios such as Rise of Rome for example? Just want to cover all my bases as I said before, I am not computer savvy. Thanks for the help in advance!!!
 
I am confused. Thamis says it works. RobO, your post has to do with DyP, perhaps this is different? I do not know but if someone knows how to install this with the Conquests Expansion I would be very appreciative!
 
Well, fact is that I haven't had the chance to test TAM with C3C yet because I don't have C3C yet... In general, it HAS to work because C3C includes PTW. So what I would do is extract TAM to the C3C\SCENARIOS folder and try it. If it doesn't work, extract it to the CIV3PTW\SCENARIOS folder and try it by launching CIV3PTW.EXE, as described in the other post.

Regarding any other installed conquests of scenarios, TAM will not interfere with any of them. It's not overwriting any files.
 
Okay, I dragged the mod into the scenarios folder and it is there but does not show up when I play Conquests. The only difference I saw in the scenarios folder was that the in game scenarios they are saved as .biq files or something like that and the mod is just a folder. Perhaps that is the problem???? Should I go to run and type in the .exe command???
 
Thanks for the info. I will drag it to that folder. Do I have to still do the .exe way to run it or will it appear in the scenarios? I guess I could just check when I go home but you sre the expert so I am asking. Sorry for my stupidity!!!!
 
I was just curious as I stated before it did not look like the scenario files from the game. They all looked like a minibox and were labeled .bic file or somesuch. When I dragged the Mod over to the scenario file it looked like a folder with just the title below, no .bic or whatever. I was not sure if this was okay or it I could not add the mod by dragging over into the scenarios folder to work.

On another track, you stated earlier that the Mod was a work in progress and would never be finished. Just a suggestion but I like in Conquests that you can rename your units in game. That would be a nice addition! For example in the Rise to Rome scenario I took several Legionary units and renamed them Legio I Gallica, as I was invading Gaul with these units. Just a thought! Thanks for that info but Conquests must be different. Under the PTW folder there is no scenario subfolder. I was reading the manual today and it mentions to go to a different option to play player created MODS. I was hoping to get chance today to check that possibility out and post my findings but was unable to find the time. Hopefully I will find time after work tonight and post tommorrow what I find out.
 
You are right. Last night I saw that there was a scenario file for PTW. I think the problem may be in how I downloaded it. You can tell me if you think so. I downloaded the Mod at work as I have a DSL there while I have a dial up at home. I saved it to a folder. I then unzipped the file, highlighted all the files and then saved it to another file. I then burned the file onto a CD so I could download it at home. I then(last night) opened the PTW Scenario file(I believe it was empty), minimized it, then insert the Burned CD and opened up the folders on the disk. I then clicked and dragged the Mod over to the PTW scenarios file. It did its think and after 35-40 seconds the folder appeared in the scenarios folder. I then closed out the CD, inserted the Conquests disk and started PTW. I then chose the scenario option and it was not there. Only BIG Earth and Small Earth were there. No Ancient Mod! I then went back into program files, opened up the Infograms folder, opened the PTW folder, then Scenarios, and the MOD was there in a folder. I opened the folder and there were all files! My only thoughts were that I insert this file incorrectly. Should I have opened the file from the CD burned disk, highlighted all the files in it and copied it to the PTW scenarios file? It was 1:00 am here and I was too tired to attempt that at that time. Plus I wanted your opinion.

I had your way to load it with me with how your folder would look. When I had Windows 98 I had the option of clicking on Windows Explorer and opening the tree like you show. However since I now have XP I do not see the options showing it in tree form. So I go to my computer, open up program files, then go to infograms, then CIV folder. That is how I did all the above. Sorry for being such a pain.
 
Here is a step-by step instruction on what to do!

You open the CD on which you put the TAM files. It should look like this:

TAM 2.1
TAM 2.1 Fertile Crescent
TAM 2.1 Mediterranean Large
TAM 2.1 The Ancient Mediterranean

(The first one is a folder, not a file)
Now you copy all these files & folders over to CIV3\CIV3PTW\SCENARIOS.

Now when you open the CIV3\CIV3PTW\SCENARIOS folder you can see all those files there (and maybe some others).

Then you launch PTW (!!!) and and select "Load Scenario".

From what you told me, you launched CIV3, not PTW, and it showed you only the two Earth maps.
 
Sorry I did load PTW. However the problem may be in what you just said. You said :You open the CD on which you put the TAM files. It should look like this:

TAM 2.1
TAM 2.1 Fertile Crescent

When I open the folder I downloaded it has alot of files attached in it. The first one has an E explorer Icon on it and is titled Ancient Med. The following files for the most part seem to be unit files, leaderhead files, and other files associated to the game play. This is what I put in the scenarios file of PTW. I think my problem may be here. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP ON ME YET!
 
Okay, now I see your mistake.

You just copied the TAM 2.1 data folder to your CD, but forgot the most important part: the three other files that are to end up in the SCENARIOS folder. When you unzip the downloaded file, you get 3 files that end with .BIX and one folder called TAM 2.1. You need all of that, and it has to go into the SCENARIOS folder.
